Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 261

~ IT TURNED OUT TO BE A COUSIN ~

Su Yuyi was shocked by the current situation. She stood up hurriedly and looked at Meng Yanran, “Sister Yanran, how are you?”

Mu Yunyao also quickly followed, “Elder Sister Meng, are you alright?”

Meng Yanran originally had a domineering temper. At this time, the hot tea poured on her leg, and the pain was piercing. Seeing Mu Yunyao come over, she raised her hand and wanted to slap her. But unexpectedly, Mu Yunyao seemed frightened and retreated two steps back, causing her slap to miss. All she could do was to reprimand her angrily: “Mu Yunyao, I found out that you came back here and made a special trip to visit you. I didn’t expect you to be so gloomy and deliberately scald me with hot tea. What exactly is your intention?”

Mu Yunyao frowned, her face filled with confusion. “It’s obvious that Elder Sister didn’t hold the teacup steady, so why did you blame it on me?”

Meng Yanran’s voice became shrill, “Then according to what you said, I deliberately scald myself and then frame you in turn? Why don’t you look at yourself and What’s worth framing you by hurting me?”

Mu Yunyao’s face showed anger, her voice is crisp, and her words are sharp, “Elder Sister Meng, don’t say that I’m the granddaughter of the Old Madam, even if I’m just a commoner, my name not allowed to be tainted. The law has long existed. Even the Son of Heaven is guilty of the same crime as the commoners. Even if my identity to Elder Sister Meng is just like an ant, you can’t trample on as you please.”

Meng Yanran felt the pain in her leg, and her heart was in a state of rage. She suddenly remembered that there were scars on her body. If a large cup of boiling water had poured on her body, her legs must have scalded. In that case, her future would be affected as well. Thinking of the consequences, she immediately hated Mu Yunyao. “I didn’t expect you to be so sharp-tongued. Today, I’ll teach you a lesson and let you know what rules are!”

“Even if I don’t understand the rules, there are elders who can teach me. I won’t bother Elder Sister Meng.”

“You actually dare to talk back? Somebody! Slap her mouth!”

Mu Yunyao raised her head to look at Su Yuyi, who was at the side, with an anxious gaze, “Cousin, that cup of tea was obviously Elder Sister Meng who didn’t hold the teacup firmly, and I didn’t throw it at her on purpose. You were right by my side at that time, so you should have seen it clearly.”

Su Yuyi frowned slightly, and a trace of worry appeared between her carefully drawn eyebrows, which made people want to get rid of the thing that had annoyed her immediately, so that the beauty could smile, “At that time, I was sipping tea. I really didn’t see the actual situation clearly …, However, I still had to shout called the doctor to take a look at Little Sister Yanran. The woman’s body is a huge matter. If there is a scar on her body, it will affect her for the rest of her life.”

When she heard that, the anger in Meng Yanran’s heart flared up, and seeing that the maidservants behind her did not move, she immediately shouted, “All of you only can eat, didn’t you hear my order? Hurry and pull Mu Yunyao down and slap her!”

“Yes, Young Miss.” The two maids standing behind Meng Yanran hurried forward, one on the left and one on the right, wanting to hold Mu Yunyao.

Mu Yunyao slightly retreated two steps before turning around and running for the door. Judging by the time, Su Qingwu should be coming here soon. Since Meng Yangran was going to cause trouble, then she must make a big fuss!

The rules of the Su family had always been exceptional. The people who selected to take care of Su Yu Yi were even more carefully selected. For afraid that there was something wrong with the place, If the maid who was guarding the door really not comfortable and had to leave for a moment, there would definitely be someone else who would come to make up for it. But according to Su Yuyi, the maid had obviously just had transferred here, so she didn’t understand the rules. That was why she heard Meng Yanran’s derogatory words at the door.

Would Su Yuyi ask the maidservants that she had just sent over to guard Lu Yi Pavillion that she attaches great importance? It was impossible to even think about it, so it had to be a deliberate arrangement.

Just as she was about to reach the door, Mu Yunyao suddenly stopped in her tracks. The two maids who were chasing her were already very aggressive, so they couldn’t react the moment Mu Yunyao stopped, and they directly collided with Su Qingwu, who entered the door. One of the maidservants accidentally knocked on his arm, causing him to frown.

“Ah, Eldest Young Master? This servant deserves to die. Eldest Young Master, please forgive me. “

Su Yuyi hurriedly stood up and said in a surprised voice, “Elder Brother, you’re back?”

Su Qingwu’s gaze fell straight on Mu Yunyao. A myriad of emotions flashed past his eyes, but they quickly became turbulent, causing his heart to beat uncontrollably. He would never have thought that he would meet Mu Yunyao again, moreover, at the Su family residence!

At this moment, her face filled with panic and slightly pale. Her white teeth gently bit down on her lower lip as she stood on the spot as if she was helpless.

Although he didn’t see the entire scene clearly, Su Qingwu had already guessed a few things in his heart. Her fierce gaze landed on the two kneeling female maidservants. “What’s going on?”

Su Qingwu slightly furrowed his brows. Compared to the last time they had met, she seemed to have grown taller. The immaturity of her body gradually faded away, and she actually revealed a delicate and graceful appearance. She was wearing a light pink dress as she quietly stood where she was, like a slender and elegant lotus flower. Her eyes filled with stubbornness, clearly unable to face the wind and rain, yet so proud that she did not want to lower her head.

Seeing Su Qingwu staring at Mu Yunyao for a long time without saying anything, Su Yuyi quickly stepped forward, “Elder Brother left home a few months ago and followed Third Prince to reward soldiers on the border. There are many things that you aren’t clear about how things go in the world. It’s a coincidence that not long after Elder Brother left, Father sent people to investigate. Then, we discovered that Mu Yunyao was Grandmother’s granddaughter, and her mother was our Aunt who had lost for many years.”

Su Qing Wu Chen had already clenched his fist tightly and couldn’t help but pull his finger back after hearing this: “Yunyao …. Cousin?”

When Meng Yanran saw Su Qingwu, she subconsciously wanted to stand up, but hearing his words, she forced herself to sit down, “Cousin, it’s great that you’re here. I came to visit Mu Yunyao today with good intentions, but I didn’t expect her to be so hostile towards me and splashed hot tea on my legs on purpose. Now, my legs have injured …” As she spoke, tears streamed down her face, making her look very pitiful.

Su Qingwu looked at Meng Yanran. Sure enough, he saw tea stains on her dress and scattered teacups on the ground. “Yuyi, what’s going on?”

“Little Sister Yanran has been curious about Yunyao for a long time, and after hearing that she had returned to the residence, she wanted to meet her today. The three of us wanted to have a cup of tea, but who would have known that when Cousin Yunyao delivered the tea, the tea would fall on Little Sister Yanran’s legs …”

Mu Yunyao sneered in her heart. What Su Yuyi said was real. But she had only chosen some words that were beneficial to Meng Yanran. When others heard it, they would subconsciously agree with what Meng Yanran said and thinks that the tea was poured by her intentionally.

Su Qingwu looked at Mu Yunyao. “Is that really the case?” The moment he said those words, the tension in his voice became even more apparent. He quickly pursed his lips.

Incurable Chapter 17 Part 2

Mu Wan finished her hospital scenes at Wen City Central Hospital by late morning. In the afternoon, she headed to the outskirts.

There were large stretches of old Republican-era houses, preserved with their original atmosphere. Besides being a filming location, it’s now a major tourist area. Mu Wan walked down the long street, surrounded by snack stalls and little trinket stands.

In weather like this, rain unending, standing in a Jiangnan-style alleyway always made the heart settle into something quiet. Mu Wan held her umbrella, stepped on the green stone slabs, and entered a courtyard.

Inside, cameras were set, actors and crew all in motion. The cold old architecture of the Republican era had been injected with a thin thread of human warmth.

The rain hadn’t stopped. Mu Wan had just put away her umbrella and was about to get makeup and change when someone slapped her shoulder hard.

Before she could turn, Gao Mei dragged her into a corner.

“Where did you go last night?” Gao Mei demanded. She wore a rough-cloth maid costume from the era, with her hair in two pigtails, her round face scrunched into a knot.

“I got drunk and slept over at a friend’s,” Mu Wan said lightly.

“You have friends here?” Gao Mei blurted, then relaxed, finally letting go of Mu Wan’s arm. She sighed. “You went to the dinner and never came back. I thought you and Zhang…”

Mu Wan had texted Gao Mei before going to Ying Ke Xuan, saying she’d be late. And last night, they’d carried a female actor out of Director Zhang’s room.

Gao Mei knew exactly what kind of person Mu Wan was, but with Mu Wan gone all night, Gao Mei had wanted to ask and hadn’t dared. Only now, seeing her standing here intact, did Gao Mei finally let the fear slip out.

They were interrupted by the set starting up. Zhang Chengze sat behind the camera and called, “Action!”

In front of the lens, a Republican-era female student in a short teal jacket and long black skirt stood before the ancestral hall, acting opposite a middle-aged couple.

The parents were furious and devastated. The father was angry, the mother heartbroken, while the girl recited her lines with a blank face.

Gao Mei leaned in and whispered to Mu Wan, “The female lead’s acting is awful. And today’s scene was supposed to be her on her knees the whole time. She refused, so the director changed the script on the spot.”

As Gao Mei spoke, the scene ended. Zhang Chengze sighed, almost imperceptibly. The female lead looked over, eyes asking.

“Pass,” Zhang Chengze said.

“That passed?” Gao Mei looked like she’d been stabbed.

Mu Wan curled her lips and laughed quietly.

“Life really isn’t fair,” Gao Mei muttered, watching assistants swarm around the female lead. Her mind flicked to the actress carried out of Zhang Chengze’s room last night. She’d only heard it from someone else, but Zhang Chengze’s reputation for getting nasty when he drank wasn’t exactly baseless.

That actress could go through all that and still only earn a few extra shots.

Meanwhile, Mu Qing got the lead role easily, and the entire set revolved around her.

“Being born lucky matters,” Gao Mei sighed, then glanced at Mu Wan. “But with acting like that, even with a big investment, she won’t make a splash. She’ll just ruin her reputation. You’re different. You’re gorgeous, and you can act. If someone backed you, you’d blow up worldwide.”

The second half was teasing. Mu Wan smiled and let it pass.

She didn’t care what Mu Qing was thinking. She said a quick word to Gao Mei and went to change and get her makeup done.

This old house was the heroine’s family home in the story. Most of the scenes here featured the heroine, including one between Mu Wan and Mu Qing.

Both characters were spies. Mu Wan came to deliver a message, and that meeting was what ultimately led to her character’s murder. Inside Mu Qing’s boudoir set, Mu Wan handed over the note. Mu Qing took it, delivered her lines, and the scene ended.

Mu Wan stepped back, emotions packed away. Mu Qing glanced at her once, then lifted her eyes slightly and looked away.

After that, Mu Wan’s scenes at this location were done.

While she was changing, exclamations of surprise and admiration rose outside. Mu Wan stepped out and saw red everywhere.

The entire courtyard had been turned into a sea of roses.

Fragrant, soft, almost unreal. Women’s squeals of delight layered over the rose scent until the whole scene felt hazy and dreamlike.

Gao Mei came over, her small eyes still full of shock.

“From Young Master Shen Cheng,” she whispered. “You didn’t see it. A whole line of men in black suits carrying armful after armful of roses and piling them up. She got more roses in one day than I’ll get in my entire life.”

Her voice held pure envy. Women were emotional creatures. They loved romance, even when it hurt.

“They paused filming,” Gao Mei added. “Mu Qing got the flowers and went into the car to call someone.”

Mu Wan glanced at the roses, so thick there was barely room to step.

“I’m leaving,” she said. “I’m having dinner with a friend.”

Gao Mei stared at her, baffled. “Why are you not reacting at all? Every woman on set is losing her mind with jealousy.”

The scent was strong. Mu Wan’s throat tickled. She rubbed her nose and said, “I don’t like flowers.”

Gao Mei didn’t focus on the flowers. She focused on Mu Wan’s voice. She eyed Mu Wan’s slightly flushed face with concern. “Are you getting sick?”

“It’s fine. I’m going.”

Mu Wan patted Gao Mei’s shoulder and left the old house.

The long street widened gradually, and scattered tourists drifted through. Mu Wan wove past them and texted Liu Qianxiu.

[Mu Wan]: Liu Qianxiu, I’m done filming. Where are you?

The restaurant Mu Wan chose was on Wencheng’s commercial street, two blocks from Wencheng Hotel. To save time, she sent him the address, and they agreed to take separate taxis and meet there.

After sending the message, Mu Wan leaned back against the taxi seat. Night shadow crept in. The rain-night breeze was cool. Her head felt heavy, her nasal tone thick when she spoke.

“Driver, could you turn off the AC?”

By the time she arrived at the commercial street, the rain had stopped. Summer drizzle had wrung the heat out of the air, and even the wind felt cool. The street was crowded with people out for the evening.

Mu Wan pushed through the flow toward the restaurant. Before she even reached the entrance, she saw Liu Qianxiu waiting there.

Her head stopped feeling heavy in an instant. The cool breeze cleared the heat clinging to her skin. Mu Wan called out, sweet and bright:

“Liu Qianxiu.”

He turned. The streetlights filled his dark eyes like a mirror lake reflecting a starry sky.

Mu Wan’s heartbeat wobbled again. Smiling, she hurried over.

When she reached him, she looked up, eyes sparkling. “It’s right…”

She didn’t finish.

A cool hand landed on her forehead.

Mu Wan’s gaze flickered.

Her forehead under his palm was burning hot. When he dipped his head to feel it properly, she tilted her face up and even gave a small cough.

“You have a fever,” Liu Qianxiu said, withdrawing his hand. His palm still felt hot afterward, and it wasn’t clear whose temperature it belonged to.

The moment he pulled away, Mu Wan’s head went dull and achy again. Her throat itched. The little bit of energy she’d forced up collapsed.

She really did have a fever. She’d been rained on all day. Even in the taxi, she’d felt fuzzy and dazed. But they’d made plans. Mu Wan didn’t want to go back. She wanted to eat with him.

Her mind was a blur. Her breathing deepened, hot air spilling out as she looked up at Liu Qianxiu.

“Why didn’t the medicine you gave me this morning work?”

She sounded like her fever had scrambled her logic.

“Medicine that works is bitter,” Liu Qianxiu said.

Mu Wan frowned slightly, lips pouting in obvious dissatisfaction.

Liu Qianxiu glanced down at her, then scanned the area and said, “Wait there.”

Mu Wan followed his gaze and saw a bench inside a beauty shop, set up for customers to rest. She really was tired. She nodded dizzily and let him guide her there.

It wasn’t crowded inside. Only Mu Wan sat on the bench, quiet and obedient.

Liu Qianxiu stood to leave. Mu Wan grabbed the edge of his shirt. He turned back, and she looked at him and said, “I’ll wait here. Come back soon, okay?”

He lowered his eyes and nodded.

Mu Wan let go.

The shop felt warmer than outside, like the AC had been turned down. Still, after sitting for a while, Mu Wan grew restless. Five more minutes passed, and she lifted her head toward the entrance.

Liu Qianxiu came back.

In his hand was a white pharmacy bag marked with a red cross, clearly medicine. And in his other hand was something even more ridiculous.

A huge, deluxe bouquet of cotton candy.

White around the bottom, blue above that, pink in the center, ridiculously oversized and sweet.

Mu Wan stood up.

Liu Qianxiu had bought fever medicine, then picked up a bottle of water from the beauty shop before walking over. He handed Mu Wan the cotton candy and said while sorting the medicine, “If it’s bitter, take a bite after.”

He gathered the pills, then reached to hand her the water, paused, and took it back. He twisted off the cap first, then offered it again.

Mu Wan didn’t take it.

He lifted his eyes.

Mu Wan looked back at him.

Her fever flush made her face pink like last night when she was drunk. Her eyes held light, dark, and bright.

“Liu Qianxiu,” she called softly, nasal and low.

He pressed his lips lightly together and answered, patient and quiet.

“Mm.”

“I’ll remember you for the rest of my life,” Mu Wan said.

His gaze paused.

Mu Wan smiled, satisfied and sweet.

“Because this is the first time I’ve ever received flowers. It is sweet~.”

The author has something to say:
Gao Mei: Don’t you like flowers?
Mu Wan: Of course I like it if it from my man!

Incurable Chapter 17 Part 1

Liu Qianxiu looked at her, quiet and even, like a blue flame: cool to the eye, burning-hot at its core.

Mu Wan turned her gaze toward the window instead. She held the cup and watched the rain slide off the sill, her voice still soft and sticky-sweet.

“Nothing. I’m going to drink the medicine.”

The cup in her hand wasn’t much warmer than she felt. It should’ve gone down easily. She twisted at the lid anyway, knuckles paling, once, twice, three times, and still it wouldn’t budge.

Mu Wan blinked at it, eyes widening a little. Before she could put strength into it again, the cup was taken from her by the person beside her.

Their fingers brushed.

One cold, one cool, and somehow, Liu Qianxiu was warmer than she was.

Mu Wan licked the corner of her lips and looked up. Liu Qianxiu lowered his eyes, long fingers settling over the cap. He turned it lightly.

The lid came loose. Warm steam rose.

A faint medicinal scent drifted out.

He handed it back. Mu Wan averted her gaze, took the cup, and drank it immediately.

Warm liquid slid down her throat, soothing the itch there. She paused, then kept sipping in small, careful mouthfuls.

“You don’t have to finish it,” Liu Qianxiu reminded her.

Steam floated at the rim, and it seemed to mist over her eyes too, making them wet and bright. Mu Wan stopped, medicine glossing her lips. She brushed her tongue lightly over them and asked, “Why?”

His lashes lowered, as if no one had ever asked him that before.

Mu Wan rested her mouth at the rim again, teeth tapping the edge with a soft click. Then, a little muffled, she said, “Because I like it. It’s sweet.”

Granule medicine wasn’t exactly bitter, but it wasn’t sweet either.

Mu Wan truly thought it was sweet. Not that faint aftertaste people called “sweetness,” but the kind that felt like honey melted down, sweet from the tip of her tongue straight into her chest.

He’d taken her in last night. This morning, he’d mixed medicine for her, too. Mu Wan’s eyes curved, her happiness syrupy and obvious. She drank the rest, warmth rising through her body.

“Do you have time tonight?” she asked. “The place I mentioned before, let’s go there tonight. My treat.”

After the medicine, her color returned. Her cheeks and lips softened back into pink and red. Under damp black hair, her dark brows, dark eyes, and red mouth made her glow again, bright and vivid.

Liu Qianxiu watched her quietly. People moved through the corridor, the air heavy with wet humidity.

He didn’t answer for a moment.

Mu Wan bit her lip, disappointment flickering through her eyes. “I really want to eat…”

“Okay,” Liu Qianxiu said.

Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 260

~ THE MALICIOUS MENG YANRAN ~

Seeing that Meng Yanran was about to lose her temper, Su Yuyi quickly stepped forward and held her hands, “You are all my sister. Why are we standing at the door and talking? Come in quickly. I have asked someone to prepare some tea bought from Jingling City. It’s said to be very delicious. Both sisters come to have a taste.”

Meng Yanran snorted coldly and walked quickly into the hall, but she was so dissatisfied in her heart. Seeing Mu Yunyao slowly walk in, she couldn’t help but say, “Big Sister Yuyi, I remember that you spent quite a bit of silver to set up this small Lu Yi Pavillion, right?”

“Although trying to conserve as much as possible, it really cost a lot.” Su Yuyi smiled brilliantly.

This Lu Yi Pavilion was built precisely according to her preference. It was meticulously constructed and cost seventy to eighty thousand taels of silver. Even the bricks laid on the ground made of high-quality materials. Every plant and tree in the yard is very precious. Choosing one was enough to feed a family of four for several months.

“It was also because my aunt and uncle doted on you. When you were coming age, they built this Lu Yi Pavillion for you as a gift. At the time, the young ladies who came to attend your hairpin ceremony were so envious that their eyes turned red.” After Meng Yanran finished speaking, she turned her gaze towards Mu Yunyao, “I heard that you brought a lot of things when you came from Jingling City, and you also directly changed the things in Jiyue Pavilion. I suppose you must have made quite a bit of silver, right?”

“It’s all because of the hard work of the money. There are a lot of people who need to be supported, so there aren’t many things left behind.”

“There was no need for modesty. At that time, a box on the dock overturned, and a lot of jewelry had fallen off from it. Rumor has it that it was worth a lot of money. Ni Yun Fang and Bu Xian Lou had opened recently, but I really didn’t expect that the profit would be so great.

If it weren’t for the fact that Elder Sister Yuyi and I have a family discipline, I wouldn’t be allowed to intervene in these merchants, and I would not even want to start an embroidery shop.” After she finished speaking, she sneered fiercely, and the contempt and ridicule in her words were self-evident.

Mu Yunyao’s eyes darkened. Meng Yanran’s words were sharp and striking, which meant that she earned too much silver, and it was inevitable that she would be guilty of making black-hearted silver. Meng Yanran also said that she and Su Yuyi had family discipline, which also meant that she was ridiculing her for not being well-mannered and had no education. The last sentence about the merchants is especially scornful, and it is impossible to make people pretend not to hear it.

Seeing Mu Yunyao not make a sound, the provocation in Meng Yanran’s eyes became even more apparent, “Why aren’t you saying anything? Even though you were born in the countryside, you don’t have to be so restrained. You and I both call each other sisters, so there’s no need to hide so much when you speak. If you speak wrongly, no one will punish you.”

Mu Yunyao slightly pursed her lips as an embarrassed expression appeared on her face. “Elder Sister came from a wealthy family, and she doesn’t know the hardships in the world. Even if her family allowed it, she wouldn’t be able to open the embroidery shop. After all, from fabric selection, pattern design, tailoring, silk thread selection, and the embroidery process, it’s considered good if you can make a set of clothes within one month. But Sister Meng also said just now that you and I are sisters, so we should help each other. If you really want to open an embroidery shop, I can help you find some female embroiderer. After all, the most exquisite embroidery techniques now are all spread out from my Ni Yun Fang!”

Didn’t you mock the merchant? Now you can’t even do business like merchants, aren’t you worse than merchants?

Meng Yanran was angry and couldn’t help but sneer, “Cousin Yunyao is indeed different from us. Her mouth is really eloquent. You’ve met more people than us when you opened the tea house in Jingling City, right?”

That was why she was so sharp-tongued. She learned so much from those people!

Mu Yunyao’s smile became even more bashful. “I was born timid and have never liked going out. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have calmed down to study those embroidery techniques. It’s possible that the heavens love innocent people, whether Ni Yun Fang or Bu Xian Luo, there are suitable shopkeepers to take care of them. I am also teaching embroidery techniques and processed tea leaves. Mother said that I was born to speak early, but I can’t walk yet, so I know how to say everything. Perhaps this is what it means, just like how some people never speak no matter how much they learn.”

Meng Yanran was blocked by Mu Yunyao to the point where she couldn’t hold herself back, and her eyes were full of anger.

Su Yuyi was also astonished. She didn’t expect that Meng Yanran couldn’t get any advantage over Mu Yunyao. When she thought of what had happened before, she suddenly had a premonition in her heart: This Mu Yunyao in front of her would definitely not be as easy to deal as her mother had said!

Having gained the upper hand with her words, Mu Yunyao was elated. She looked at the tea set placed at the side, “Cousin, didn’t you ask us to come in just now to try some tea? What kind of tea did you prepare?”

“It’s Premium Yuqian Longjing, and I’m going to soak it for my two sisters to taste.”

Meng Yanran stretched out her hand to hold Su Yuyi, “Sister Yuyi, did you forget that we have a master of tea art here? Cousin Yunyao has opened Bu Xian Luo, but the rumor says that no one can compare to her in the art of making tea. Why don’t you show off your skills today and let us have a look as well?”

“These are all insignificant skills and won’t be able to display much. However, if you two sisters want to see, then I’ll give you an ugly one.”

Seeing Mu Yunyao agree, Meng Yanran laughed coldly.

Seeing her expression, Su Yuyi smiled apologetically at Mu Yunyao and said, “Then I’ll be troubling Cousin Yunyao.”

Mu Yunyao walked to the back of the table where the tea was brewing and gracefully sat down. She arranged the tea set on the table bit by bit before carefully inspecting it again. Only then did she start to heat up the water in the teacup.

Seeing her like this, Meng Yanran couldn’t help but snort coldly, and her hostility was apparent.

Su Yuyi’s eyes slowly dimmed. She had trained hard in the art of tea since she was young and could instantly distinguish the difference between good and inadequate. Mu Yunyao was really good at making tea, and her skills were not shallow either. Her actions seemed casual, but it was neither heavy nor slow. There was a sense of calm in Mu Yunyao’s body that made people gradually forget about the noise and became calm down completely.

Her next move in the brewing of the tea was very pleasing to the eyes. Even the expression of Meng Yanran, who was always disdainful before, gradually changed her face.

Mu Yunyao steadied the teacups and gently closed them. As the cup lid and the teacup made contact with each other, they made a light noise, covering the rising smoke as a fragrant aroma wafted out.

Mu Yunyao brought the teacups over to the two of them.

Su Yuyi took it and softly thanked her, “Many thanks, Cousin Yunyao.”

Mu Yunyao smiled as she returned the greeting. “Cousin, there’s no need to be polite.”

When she handed the teacup to Meng Yanran, she saw Meng Yanran receiving the teacup with her fingertips, but the next moment, the teacup poured directly at Mu Yunyao.

A cold light flashed through Mu Yunyao’s eyes. Right at this moment, she held the tray in her hand and raised her hand to block the teacup, stopping it from reaching her body.

Meng Yanran was smiling. The next moment, she heard a clanging sound, and the teacup that was thrown out by her was directly blocked back. The tea spilled all over her leg, and she couldn’t help but scream, “Ah, it hurts!”

Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 259

~ THE OVERBEARING AND ARROGANT MENG YANRAN ~

It was the first time she had gone to the East Courtyard after returning to the Su family. Mu Yunyao immediately called Mo Yu, the maid who was sent over by the Old Madam. Mo Yu was the eldest girl by the Old Madam’s side, has an outstanding appearance and a very gentle temperament. The Old Madam very much liked her. But later, inexplicably, the Old Madam drugged her and sold her out of the house. After that, she was unable to protect herself. After hearing this, she could only sigh and could not do anything else.

Mo Yu walked up to Mu Yunyao and greeted with a thoughtful gesture, “Greetings, Young Miss.”

“Yes, I heard that the Young Miss of the Meng family came to be a guest. My Eldest Cousin invited me to the East Courtyard, but I’m not familiar with the road since I’ve just arrived. I’ll have to trouble you to lead the way.”

“How could I accept Miss’s words of annoyance? I’m truly here to serve you. Young Miss, please follow me.”

Mu Yunyao tidied up her dress and didn’t find anything out of place. She brought Jin Lan and Jin Qiao and followed Mo Yu out.

At this moment, in the East Courtyard’s small Lu Yi Pavillion, Meng Yanran was holding her cheek with one hand. She smiled and said, “I’ve heard that your house is not peaceful in these past two days.”

Su Yuyi smiled. On her incomparably beautiful face, this smile made her seem even more mysterious: “These two days, my aunt and Cousin Yunyao have returned. Since the residence has two more people, it will naturally be more lively.”

Meng Yanran pursed her lips and glared at Su Yuyi with her almond-shaped eyes, “Only because of you and aunty’s good temper. You didn’t know that the entire Capital is talking about how the people sent by the Su family can’t even move their luggage.”

“When has the Capital ever been at peace? Today’s rumors are about this family, and tomorrow’s are about that family. These rumors are just ordinary people’s conversation after dinner and only last for a day or two, so let them say what they want to say.”

“You’re good at everything, but your temper is a bit too soft. There’s an aunt here, I am not worried, but I heard that Mu Yunyao is not a simple person. Her name is extremely resounding in the entire Jiangnan, and she has also received rewards from the Emperor. You have to be careful. It won’t be long before you got bullied.”

Su Yuyi frowned slightly. She paused for a moment and then said, “That shouldn’t be the case. I met Cousin Yunyao yesterday, and she seems like she’s easy to get along with too.”

“What’s the use of looking at it? She set up the embroidery shop and the tea house in Jingling City, so she was used to greeting many people all day long. I didn’t know how much acting she could do, but who knew how many gaudy things she had in her stomach? You were raised by my aunt in the Capital, so you don’t know the dirty tricks in private.”

Su Yuyi looked troubled, “That shouldn’t be the case …”

Meng Yanran gave a cold harrumph. “I was just about to take a look at that guy who sold clothes today. What ability does she have?”

At the door, Mo Yu’s expression was so ugly, so she lowered her head. Jin Lan and Jin Qiao’s faces were filled with suppressed anger, while Mu Yunyao, who was at the side, had a smile plastered on her face. She was not the least bit displeased, “Miss, you … Are you still going in? “

As soon as they arrived, they heard Meng Yanran’s voice, and her words overheard clearly. However, the maid who should be guarding and look out at the door had disappeared without a trace.

Mu Yunyao chuckled. She understood Meng Yanran’s personality very well. After all, they had interacted with each other in her previous life. Back then, not long after she arrived at the Su family, Su Yuyi had also used this excuse to invite her to come here. At that time, she had only been here for a few days, and her body hadn’t fully recovered yet. She was so ignorant that she didn’t even know what was going on. When she arrived and saw the shiny floor in the hall, she had to be careful even with her feet.

Meng Yanran had a crafty personality. She stepped on the dirty ground and forced her to take off her shoes. She didn’t know why, but it just so happened that Su Qingwu had returned, and her mocking laughter had made her want to find a hole to hide inside.

The maid hurriedly walked over, and upon seeing Mu Yunyao, who was standing at the door, she quickly bent down to pay her respects. “Greetings, Miss Biao. This servant’s stomach really wasn’t feeling well just now, so I went down to relieve myself. Please forgive me, Young Miss.”

The maid’s voice rose to a slightly higher pitch. Su Yuyi, who had heard the voice, stood up and walked out: “Little Sister Yunyao, this maid has only been here for a few days and still unfamiliar with many of the rules. She actually made you wait outside. I’ll punish her when I back later.”

Mu Yunyao’s smile was dazzling, “It’s just a small matter, and we’ve just waited a little longer. Who wouldn’t feel uncomfortable eating grains and cereals? Cousin shouldn’t punish her. it’s not easy being a servant, so please understand.”

“Swish! Heh heh.” A laugh sounded out. Meng Yanran looked up and down at Mu Yunyao, and her smile was full of sarcasm, “The Su family has always had clear rules, and you should get punished if you do something wrong. Although you are from the countryside, you shouldn’t treat yourself as a servant. If you still have to be considerate about everything, how can you still have the authority of a master? Why don’t you serve your maid instead?”

Meng Yanran carefully looked at Mu Yunyao. She originally wanted to find out something inappropriate from her, but after looking at her over and over again, she still couldn’t do it. The skirt she was wearing was a relatively common style nowadays: wide sleeves, long pendants, and fringes around the waist. It is difficult to wear such a skirt. But when Mu Yunyao wears it, her entire figure appeared slender and exquisite, fresh and delicate.

Does it seem like she was here to stir up trouble?

Mu Yunyao secretly pondered in her heart. Meng Yanran’s style of doing things had always domineering, and the people she came in contact with usually had pretty much the same status, so it wasn’t too apparent. However, it was her turn, so she might as well use this opportunity to establish her prestige.

Mu Yunyao nodded very solemnly, with a pure, innocent look in her eyes: “I just came here, so I didn’t know that the Su family rules were strict. Since it’s like this, I can’t let this maid off so easily. Cousin, according to the Su family’s rules, what should we do? Beat them to death? Or o be expelled from the residence?”

Su Yuyi was stunned, while Meng Yanran didn’t know how to react.

“Please have mercy, Young Miss! I know my wrongs, and I don’t dare to make a mistake again! Please have mercy on me! I don’t want to die, and I don’t want to be expelled!”

Meng Yanran’s willowy brows slanted inwards, and her brows furrowed tightly. She pointed at Mu Yunyao with a face filled with shock and anger, “Why are you so malicious?”

Mu Yunyao looked puzzled. “Wasn’t it Elder Sister Meng who just said that? As a master, you should have the authority of the master. Don’t think of yourself as a servant, and understand everything about your servant. Since I have the authority, then you will naturally be punished if you make a mistake?”

“Although it’s a punishment, she merely left for a while due to discomfort. Isn’t you cruel enough to kill people or drive them out of the house because she let you stand for a while longer?”

“Then, according to what Elder Sister Meng said, what should I do?”

“For such a small matter, you only need to punish her to kneeling for a while.”

Mu Yunyao nodded and looked at the kneeling maid. “Then kneel for a quarter of an hour. After all, Elder Sister Meng said there was a mistake, but you can’t go without punishment.”

The maid who escaped calamity quickly kowtowed to express her gratitude, “Thank you for your magnanimity, Young Miss Biao.” Just kneeling for a quarter of an hour was the same as not being punished!

Meng Yanran subconsciously felt that something was wrong. Her gaze landed on the maid who was deeply grateful to Mu Yunyao, and her eyes suddenly trembled. She originally wanted to hurt Mu Yunyao, but she did not expect to be misled by her words. Instead, she would appear to be overbearing and arrogant, allowing Mu Yunyao to take advantage of her and gain some leniency and magnanimity!

Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 258

~ SEND A MEETING GIFT ~

“The Old Madam’s mood fluctuated too greatly yesterday, and today she has a slight headache. She told me that if Madam and Young Miss come over, I will ask to return and take a good rest. They are all family members, and the family does not need to be so formal.”

“Mother has a headache. Did you ask the doctor to look at it?” Su Qing asked.

“I’ve already asked a doctor to take a look at it. They say it’s not a big problem, and only need to drink two sets of decoctions to recuperate.” Wen Mama answered respectfully.

Su Qing nodded, “Then I am relieved.”

Although she didn’t receive permission to enter to pay her respects, Mu Yunyao accompanied Su Qing to pay her respects outside the courtyard before returning to Jiyue Pavillion.

Ever since Bu Xian Luo opened, Su Qing also started to like drinking tea. Jiyue Pavilion had a lotus pond in its courtyard, and the scenery was still rather pleasing to the eye. Thus, she asked to set up tea sets in the small pavilion.

After Mu Yunyao finished brewing the tea, she brought the teacup to Su Qing, and then took a thick booklet to look through it carefully, “It was a busy day yesterday, and the luggage carried back a bit slower, so we didn’t send out the meeting gifts. If we continue to delay today, it won’t be justified. Jin Lan, you will go and call Zhou Mama to come over.”

“Yes, Miss.”

Very quickly, Zhou Mama walked over. “Greetings, Madam. Greetings, Young Miss.”

Mu Yunyao raised her head. “Zhou Mama, you know the situation in residence better than my mother and me, so there are some things that still need your guidance. Jin Lan, get someone to bring up the gift that Mother had prepared.”

Soon, a series of boxes were placed in the yard.

Mu Yunyao stood up and gestured for Zhou Mama to come forward. “Mama, take a look. These are all prepared to honor the Old Madam. Is there anything inappropriate about them?”

The jewels were almost dazzling, and Zhou Mama looked stunned. She had seen many good things with the Eldest Madam, but now that she saw these boxes, she felt that she hadn’t seen enough. “Madam and Young Miss have prepared them extremely well, so the Old Madam will definitely like them.”

“Zhou Mama is very knowledgeable. Since you said it’s alright, then it’s natural that it can’t be wrong. Jin Lan arranged for someone to send it to Grandmother.” After she finished speaking, Mu Yunyao pointed to something else. “These are for Eldest Aunt and Second Aunt, and the rest are for the brothers and sisters in residence. What do you think, Zhou Mama?”

Zhou Mama looked carefully at the gifts and couldn’t help but secretly praise them in her heart. She didn’t know how Mu Yunyao’s thoughts had grown, but she couldn’t find any mistakes in these gifts. Moreover, they were really exquisite and precious. “The gift that Madam and Young Miss prepared couldn’t be more complete.”

“Jin Lan and Jin Qiao have gone to deliver some things to Grandmother. As for the rest of the places, I’d like to ask Zhou Mama to call some people to help send the things over.”

The expression in Zhou Mama’s eyes changed as she looked somewhat troubled. “This …”

Mu Yunyao slightly raised her brows, “Could there be something wrong with it?”

“There is nothing wrong with that. It is because the gifts prepared by Madam and Young Miss are too precious. This servant is afraid of any mishaps.”

“What are you saying, Mama? I heard from Qi Mama that you’re also a veteran in residence. Earlier, you also were highly regarded by Eldest Aunt, so what could happen if you gave some gifts?”

Zhou Mama thought for a moment and couldn’t help but nod. “This servant will immediately go and arrange it.”

“Alright.”

After arranging the gifts, Mu Yunyao’s expression became even more relaxed. She sat in the pavilion and accompanied Su Qing to drink her tea, “How does Mother feel about this tea?”

“My mouth doesn’t have your spirit. No matter how subtle the taste is, I can’t taste the difference. I only feel that there is less sweetness when compared to the water in Jingling City.”

“Previously, the water used to brew tea in Bu Xian Luo was all from the mash spring water, so naturally, the water there would be much better than in other places. However, there are a few springs wide renowned in the Capital. I’ll let someone find it and give it to Mother for a taste in a few days.”

Su Qing quickly shook her head, “Why are you so troublesome? Besides, the cost of fetching water from the mash spring was quite high. Everything in the Capital is expensive, so fetching water is naturally not cheap. If you can save some, then save some.”

Previously, Mu Yunyao had given most of the silver taels earned by Bu Xian Lou and Ni YunFang to the people of Jingling City. Those meeting gifts were more precious and had cost an unknown amount of silver, so save some if you can save some silver.

Mu Yunyao naturally guessed what Su Qing was worried about, but she couldn’t say the silver she earned from the salt tax couldn’t be told clearly. Otherwise, she might have to stay awake all night, “Mother, you don’t need to worry too much. Now, Bu Xian Luo is getting more and more widespread, Ni Yun Fang has also started making silver. You can rest assured that you can spend it boldly, but you will never spend all of it.”

“I just feel that it’s a bit of a pity.” Su Qing also knew that she was used to hardships. Now that she had money, she could not bear to waste it. Thus, when she saw so many precious gifts given to people who had harmed her daughter in her previous life, her heart was already in pain.

Mu Yunyao’s face blossomed into a dazzling smile. Smiling, she said in a soft voice, “Mother, don’t worry. Since we’ve already sent the things out, we’ll naturally be able to get them back from other places.”

She hated those people even more than Su Qing. If she wanted to give them gifts, she would have packed some Blood Seal Throat poison, and she won’t waste silver in vain.

Su Qing sighed, “Let’s not talk about these things. If we continue, we won’t even have the mood to drink tea anymore.”

Not long after she finished speaking, Si Qin walked in and reported, “Madam, Miss, just now Eldest Miss sent someone to deliver a message, saying that Miss Meng from the Grand Preceptor’s family would be here as a guest. She has heard so much about you, so she invited you to the east courtyard.”

Mu Yunyao slightly raised her eyes. “The Grand Preceptor’s family’s Miss Meng?” Meng Yanran?

Su Qing was slightly nervous, “Yao’er, do you know who that Miss Meng is?”

“Her name is Meng Yanran, the Eldest’s niece, born in the Grand Preceptor’s family. Her father is the Minister of Rites, her grandfather is a first rank Grand Preceptor of the current Dynasty, and her grandmother is a princess of Qingning. She can be said to be the first-class daughter of the Imperial Capital, and Su Yuyi also must be polite to her by three points.”

Hearing that the other party had such an illustrious identity, Su Qing became even more worried in her heart. “Yao’er, why do I feel that this person has come with ill intentions?”

Of course, it’s the bad ones! However, Mu Yunyao didn’t want to say it out loud, as it’ll make her mother more worried, “Mother, don’t worry. It’s nothing important. It’s just a meeting. Can she eat people? Sooner or later, I will have to come into contact with her. It’s good to see her now.”

When they were in Jingling City, although there were some twists and turns, most of them filled with goodwill. When she suddenly came to the Capital, Su Qing only felt that she had to be careful when she took a step. She also felt uncomfortable as there was a nail pricking her feet.

“That’s true, but you still have to be careful. After all, that Miss Meng has a high status. If you anger her and want to punish you, I’m afraid no one will help us…”

Mu Yunyao could not help but smile. Although their statuses were not worth mentioning in front of the Su Family, in the end, she had received rewards from the Emperor several times, and there are Ni Yunfang and Bu Xian Luo with them. No matter how arrogant and domineering Meng Yanran was, she did not dare to go too far. After all, no matter how illustrious the Meng family was, they would not be able to cover it up with a single move. Moreover, the Meng family and the Su family were different. The most favored young miss of the Su family was Su Yuyi, and her nurturing and care for her had reached the point where f devoting the whole family’s strength. Unlike Meng Yanran, there are quite a few people in the family who are on the same level as her.

“Mother, you can rest assured. I guarantee you that I will return in full.”

Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 257

~ THE FIRST NIGHT IN THE SU RESIDENCE ~

After setting up Jiyue Pavilion, Mu Yunyao looked at the rooms that were about the same as the one at Jingling City, and a look of satisfaction flashed in her eyes. “What do you think, Mother?”

Su Qing was naturally satisfied. However, she was a little worried in her heart. “If we change all the things in Jiyue Pavilion, is there something wrong with that?”

“It doesn’t matter. It’s Zhou Mama who said that it’s okay to replace it. There is nothing wrong with it. Mother doesn’t have to worry about it. We’ve been on the boat for the past few days, so I’m sure you’re quite tired. Let’s rest a bit earlier today.”

“Sure.”

After finishing her meal, Mu Yunyao chatted with Su Qing for a while, but she was still awake. She leaned against the soft couch with one hand against her forehead and closed her eyes to rest. Jin Lan lifted up the box containing the Snow Fox. When the Snow Fox saw Mu Yunyao, it hurriedly extended its claws to scratch the cage before making a whining sound from its mouth.

Mu Yunyao opened her eyes and looked over, only to see the two claws in front of the Snow Fox hugging each other, its hind legs standing straight up as it bowed towards her.

Mu Yunyao laughed fiercely and motioned for Jin Lan to open the cage. She watched as the Snow Fox quickly climbed onto her shoulder. “When did you learn how to flatter and grovel?”

The Snow Fox pulled down from Mu Yunyao’s shoulder. She placed it on her knees and rubbed her head. Her small ears constantly trembled, and her squinted eyes had a prominently satisfied look. “Wuwu …”

Jin Qiao covered her mouth on one side and said with a smile, “Young Miss, Ta Xue is so intelligent. The servant only demonstrated it once to it, and it learned it immediately.”

Mu Yunyao scratched the Snow Fox’s chin, then gently pinched the meat pad on her front paws. Looking at its sharp claws, she said faintly, “Since you’re so smart, then learn a little more. Jin Qiao, another day you ask Liu Liang to teach you a few moves. After that, you can teach the Snow Fox, and I’ll take it to get something nice some other day.”

“Huh?” Jin Qiao was dumbfounded. “Miss, you want me to teach Snow Fox martial arts?”

“Yeah, didn’t you praise it for being extremely intelligent? I think learning martial arts is not bad either.”

Jin Qiao’s entire face collapsed: “But, but...”

Jin Lan, who was standing by the side, couldn’t help chuckling. “Miss is teasing you. Are you serious?”

Jin Qiao raised her head and met Mu Yunyao’s eyes, which filled with smiles. She couldn’t help but stamp her feet with a blushing face. “This servant will help Young Miss make up the bed.”

After helping Mu Yunyao wash up, Jin Lan softly persuaded, “Miss, don’t let your thoughts run wild. You should rest well tonight, and you’ll be energetic tomorrow.”

“Mm, all of you can go rest.”

“Yes, Miss.”

Mu Yunyao leaned against the headboard in her undergarment. The Snow Fox then jumped onto the embroidered blanket on her legs and extended its front paws to hold Mu Yunyao’s fingers to lick them. The tail behind it continuously swayed, and it looked extremely pleased with itself.

Mu Yunyao stroked the Snow Fox in her hands, but her thoughts couldn’t help but drift off into the distance.

In her previous life, she thought about every day was how to survive under Madam Li. But she suddenly got recognized by the Su family, and they take her out of Xiayan Village. While she was uneasy, she also carried deep anticipation at the same time. Her mother and father were no longer alive, and Madam Li had been torturing her all day, but the sudden appearance of relatives has almost become the lifeline in her eyes.

At that time, Zhou Mama had kept on persuading her along the way, letting her try her best to please the Old Madam and the Eldest Madam, telling her how noble the Su family’s family was…,

After entering the residence, she first suffered gravely ill. After getting well, she could meet the Old Madam, but she found that she didn’t have decent clothes. Just as she was feeling anxious, suddenly there were clothes delivered, but all of them were bright red and green. At that time, she thought they were inappropriate, but Zhou Mama said she was more festive and could please the Old Madam if she wears that cloth, so she comes to see the Old Madam in that red dress. Furthermore, the maid had played tricks on her, making her kneel down and kowtow the moment she entered the door. The Old Madam scolded her for not being filial and for not wearing proper clothes. Because of that, her reputation got ruined.

The servants would look at their Master or Mistress’s face the most. As soon as she enters the door, she makes the Old Madam unhappy, and the situation becomes more difficult. Although she was feeling sad at the time, it was still much better to be in the Su family’s residence than under Madam Li’s hand. At the very least, Mu Yunyao could eat a hearty meal and sleep on a soft bed. But not long after that, she discovered the secret relationship between her maids and servants. Then she was ordered by the Eldest Madam to kill him in front of her maid.

A living person was beaten to death with one stick after another. The scent of blood on the ground dissipated after half a month. Mu Yunyao had been severely ill, and there were rumors that the maid had helped her out during the disaster, but in reality, she was the one who had secretly been taught a lesson by the people.

At this point, her reputation was gone completely, and she was forbidden to step out of the courtyard again.

This restriction lasted for half a year. After half a year later …,

A warm feeling came from her fingers, startling Mu Yunyao’s thoughts, causing her to open her eyes and looked at the Snow Fox who was rubbing her fingers, “What are you doing? Do you feel hungry?”

“Woo woo …” The Snow Fox turned its body, revealing its soft belly. It tilted its head and looked at Mu Yunyao.

“Heh, you’re a fox, but why is your temper like a cat?” Mu Yunyao’s mood improved a lot. She got up and picked up a piece of dessert, breaking it bit by bit, before feeding it to the Snow Fox. “I remember that foxes eat meat. Do you want to eat mink?”

“Awoooo.” The Snow Fox narrowed its eyes as it bit into Mu Yunyao’s dessert. The movement of its small ears made it look exceptionally adorable.

Mu Yunyao’s smile deepened. “Seeing your silly appearance, you might not even be able to beat a cat, much less a Snow Ferret. The person who caught you didn’t have good eyesight and really lacking insight …”

The figure of Yue Wang suddenly appeared in Mu Yunyao’s mind. She was stunned for a moment before reacting. She hurriedly stopped and put the Snow Fox on the pillow beside her. She wiped off the crumbs on her hands, pulled the blanket over her, and laid down.

The Snow Fox laid on the side of Mu Yunyao’s pillow. It curled its little head and nudged the blanket at the side of its neck, wanting to crawl in and sleep together with Mu Yunyao.

However, Mu Yunyao pushed it to the side with extreme disgust.

The Snow Fox hugged its head with its claws as it cried out. Its cries became more and more pitiful, and even its body couldn’t help but tremble.

Mu Yunyao glanced at it with a bit of annoyance. In the end, she wasn’t able to harden her heart to let it continue like this. She slightly lifted up the blanket, revealing a small gap. The Snow Fox quickly got into the blanket and lay down next to Mu Yunyao’s arm. The appearance is exceptionally well-behaved.

Mu Yunyao sneered. “If you can’t beat the Snow Ferret, I will definitely take your skin off as a handguard.”

“Awoooo.”

That night, Mu Yunyao slept very soundly and peacefully. When she woke up the next day, she felt refreshed. On the other hand, Su Qing did not sleep soundly and appeared to be in low spirits when she had breakfast.

“Yao’er, after breakfast, shouldn’t we pay respects to the Old Madam?”

“The Old Madam is considerate of us. Generally, it is the first day and the fifteenth day of the year to pay respect. Today, according to the rules, we don’t need to do it. However, we just came back to Su’s residence yesterday, so no matter what, we have to go over and take a look today. If the Old Madam is willing to see us, we can accompany her and chat a bit. If she is not willing, we also show our sincerity.”

“Alright, then let’s go now.”

Mu Yunyao smiled and nodded to Su Qing. But in her heart, she was sure that the Old Madam would never see them. As expected, when they arrived outside the Old Madam’s courtyard, Wen Mama came out to welcome them.

~ THE REACTION OF THE SU FAMILY ~

Su Yuyi’s smile faded as a ray of light flashed across her eyes: “Mother, what do you think of that Mu Yunyao?”

“How can the light of rice grains compete with the bright moon?” A flicker of disdain passed through the Eldest Madam’s eyes, “There are a lot of smart people, but they are harmless. Yu Yi, you don’t need to focus your mind on her. She’s just a girl who grew up in the countryside, and it’s just a matter of moving my fingers to take care of her. Mother has her own plans, and you only need to prepare for the Mid-Autumn Festival’s Palace banquet, do you understand?”

“Yes, Mother. I understand.” Su Yuyi’s smile blossomed again.

After confirming that Mu Yunyao was the Old Madam’s granddaughter, whenever she attended a banquet during this time, she would hear rumors about Mu Yunyao. They said how outstanding she was in Jingling City, how famous Ni Yun Fang and Bu Xian Luo was…,

One by one, they caused her to feel extremely unhappy. Now that she had just entered the residence, she had actually nearly caused her mother to lose face. Naturally, she had to think of a way to teach her some lessons. Did she really think that the Capital was a small place like Jingling City where she could jump up and down?

Inside Jiyue Pavilion, Zhou Mama was a little dumbfounded. When Mu Yunyao had asked her if she could change the furnishings here, she thought that it would be just one or two of them, which is naturally harmless. But who would have thought that Mu Yunyao would have replaced a whole set!

Jin Lan directed her people to move out of the original screen partition. She looked at the bewildered Zhou Mama and asked, “Mama, where should we place these replaced items?”

Zhou Mama quickly came back to her senses: “This... I’ll go and ask the Eldest Madam to see what arrangements she has.”

“Then Mama, hurry up and come back. It’s not proper to have so many things piled up in the courtyard.”

Zhou Mama nodded and quickly ran out.

The Eldest Madam was currently accompanying Su Yuyi to look at the clothes she will wear for the Mid-Autumn Festival. When she heard a servant report that Zhou Mama was requesting an audience, she called her in and said, “Zhou Mama, why aren’t you serving Lady Su and Miss Mu well? Why are you here?”

“Reporting to Madam, Miss Mu has changed quite a few of the furnishings in Jiyue Pavilion, and they are now all in the courtyard. Your servant has come to ask for instructions on how to deal with them?”

“Change a lot of furnishings?” Su Yuyi smiled and said, “No wonder Cousin Yunyao brought so many things with her. She even brought furniture and decorations.”

Hearing the sarcasm in Su Yuyi’s words, Zhou Mama moved her lips and let out a dry laugh.

The Eldest Madam noticed her expression, and her eyes suddenly darkened. “How much did she change?”

“In reply to Madam, it’s almost … almost all of them have got replaced. “

The Eldest Madam held two jade bracelets in her hands, and when she heard these words, she slightly tightened her grip. The two bracelets collided with each other, making a clanging sound as she said, “The things in Jiyue Pavilion are all selected from the best. Since they don’t like it, then all the items go to the warehouse.”

“Yes, Ma’am.” Sensing the anger in the Eldest Madam’s words, Zhou Mama didn’t dare to stay any longer. After asking the question, she hurriedly left.

Su Yuyi no longer had the intention to choose clothes, her smile was still overflowing, but her eyes became colder: “Mother, tomorrow Sister Yanran wants to play with me. She has already been curious about Cousin Yunyao for a long time. It just so happened that I went over and took a look at it together with her. It also a great time to introduce Cousin Yunyao to my friend later.”

The Eldest Madam slowly nodded her head, “That’s fine too. But your sister Yanran has been spoiled by your grandmother, and she usually speaks and does things that are not accurate. You have to persuade more on one side. Don’t hurt the feelings between the sisters because of a little thing.”

Su Yuyi nodded obediently: “Don’t worry, Mother. I have a sense of measure in my heart.” The relationship between her and Sister Yanran had always been harmonious, so naturally, it wouldn’t harm their sisterhood. However, if anything happened to Mu Yunyao, she wouldn’t be able to persuade her. There was nothing she could do.

When Zhou Mama returned to Jiyue Pavilion, she immediately ordered some servants to bring the changed furnishings and furniture to the storage room. Such a commotion soon spread to the Old Madam and the Second Madam.

The Second Madam, who was currently drinking tea, chuckled. She looked at the pale-faced young girl on one side, and her eyes were full of heartache, “You’er, that Cousin Yunyao is only three months younger than you, and she has an interesting personality. If you’re interested, you can go and have a chat with her.”

Su You raised his head, picked up the medicine bowl in front of her, and drank it down, “I don’t know much about embroidery or tea ceremony, so what’s there to talk about with her?”

“It’s not like I’m going to force you to talk about embroidery and tea ceremony. It’s possible to talk about other things as well.”

“Does she know anything other than embroidery and tea ceremony?” Su You ignored her and threw the bowl directly on the table, “This time, the doctor was bad. The medicine he concocted was bitter and astringent. After drinking it, I can only taste it. As for anything else, it’s useless and doesn’t affect. Mother, please help me change him.”

The Second Madam once again considered her words to persuade her, “You’er, the one who prescribed the medicine this time is Imperial Physician Xiao. His medical skills were even praised by the Emperor highly. If it doesn’t work for you to drink for a while, how about changing it for your mother?”

“No, I can’t even take a single sip of the medicine he prescribed. If Mother isn’t willing to change him, then forget it, I don’t care anyway.” Su You threw the medicine bowl to the side. She didn’t know whether it was because she drank too fast, but he actually felt extremely nauseous. She couldn’t help but holding her chest and directly vomited out the medicine she had drunk.

The Second Madam quickly stepped forward to support her. The maids and servants were holding water and carrying basins. The room was in a mess.

The Second Madam said with tears in her eyes, “Silly Girl. If you don’t like this medicine, don’t drink it. Why do you have to force yourself? Mother will tell your father tomorrow to replace Imperial Physician Xiao.”

After vomiting, Su You’s face turned even paler. She got helped to lie down on the bed, and her breathing became messy, “Mother, don’t worry about me. I’m already used to it. Maybe someday …”

The Second Madam’s eyes were red, and her body was trembling, “You little girl, do you really want to hurt your mother to death? Aren’t you trying to dig my heart out by giving yourself up like this?”

Su You was stunned. Her fingers under the quilt tightened, but she acted like she didn’t care, “Mother has to get used to it, and the aunts below have a lot of children too. Whichever one of you likes, please take one over. Why spend all your time on me?”

“Child, did you hear any rumors or gossips from somewhere? Or did someone give you a hard time?”

“Whoever dares to gives a hard time, I’ll get my men to beat him to death!”

“Okay, okay. It’s okay if you don’t get angry. You can do whatever you want, but don’t abuse yourself. Mother...” She has only one child. Looking at her sickly appearance, she wants to replace her by herself. Therefore, her heart was trembling, and she could not bear to say a heavy word.

Su You frowned, “I’m tired. I want to rest.”

“Then Mother will not say anymore. I’ll sit on the side and look at you. You have good rest.” Su You immediately rolled over and laid down on her face. Not long after, she fell into a deep sleep.

Incurable Chapter 16 Part 2

Mu Wan woke at six in the morning.

The hangover headache gave her a burst of irritation the moment she opened her eyes. She scrunched her face and made a small, unhappy sound, then rolled over.

She was used to sleeping alone. When she turned, her leg usually hit the edge of the bed.

Today, it didn’t.

Mu Wan’s eyes snapped open. It was like she still hadn’t sobered up, and in her mind, last night replayed in sharp, humiliating flashes.

She sat up.

Outside, it was raining, the sky dark and heavy. Even the curtains could not turn it bright. The room was empty, quiet as a sealed box. Only a small desk lamp remained, and a laptop that had been shut down. Liu Qianxiu was gone.

In an instant, Mu Wan filled in the rest of the story herself.

Seduction failed. Mu Wan had taken over his room. Liu Daozhang, to avoid any scandal, must have booked another room.

Rejected.

Her mood matched the weather: gray, miserable.

She had been drunk last night, but she was clear now. Still, she did not stay in that misery long. She pulled out her phone and texted him, roughly: sorry for last night, thank you for taking her in, sorry for causing trouble.

Then she left without lingering and returned to her own room.

Gao Mei was already gone. Only a breakfast voucher lay on the table.

Call time was seven. It was already after six. There was no time to eat properly. Mu Wan went to the restaurant, grabbed something quick, and asked for a cup of soy milk to go.

The soy milk came in a sealed paper cup. Mu Wan was stuck in a straw and sipped as she rode the elevator down. The doors opened on the first floor, and she walked into the hotel lobby.

At the entrance, a crowd had gathered.

Reporters, staff, and black-clad bodyguards formed a ring, all orbiting the person in the center like stars around a moon.

It was a short-haired woman.

A black tank top. A pale coffee silk skirt. A hint of the waist was revealed. Mu Wan’s silhouette was effortlessly graceful—head slightly bowed, eyes tilted up at the corners, a tiny beauty mark like a tear beneath her right eye.

She stood in the center of the crowd with practiced ease, expression unchanged, as if she had long grown used to being surrounded. A soft red tinted her lips. Her smile was polite, controlled, graceful, and intelligent.

Mu Wan withdrew her gaze and walked past the crowd.

A woman’s figure flashed at the edge of her vision, too bright to ignore. Mu Qing lifted her eyes and swept a glance sideways, catching the profile of a woman drinking soy milk as she walked.

Mu Wan looked straight ahead, expression calm.

She did not even look at her.

In the ornate lobby, the two of them crossed like parallel lines that only intersected by accident. They had not truly met before.

They would not meet after.

“Miss Mu.”

Before Mu Wan could leave the lobby, a familiar voice called her.

She bit the straw and turned. When she saw it was only Xiao Tan, she let go of the straw and smiled.

“Director Xiao.”

Xiao Tan was thirty-seven, but he did not look it. He had the gentle, polished elegance of a successful man, appearing to be in his early thirties.

“Just call me Doctor Xiao,” he said with a smile. His gaze fell on her soy milk. “Didn’t have time for breakfast?”

Mu Wan was about to answer when Xiao Tan continued, as if remembering something.

“Ah, right. You slept in Qianxiu’s room last night.”

Mu Wan choked on the soy milk.

She coughed lightly, looking up to find laughter in the corners of Xiao Tan’s eyes. Her face turned red from the choke. She pulled the straw away and said, “I was drunk. Doctor Liu just looked after me a little.”

Xiao Tan listened quietly, warm and courteous, not interrupting. His expression suggested he fully believed her. Being around someone like him felt easy.

When Mu Wan finished, Xiao Tan smiled.

“I know. Qianxiu didn’t sleep in that room. When he went to open another room, I happened to see him. Qianxiu is a gentleman.”

Those words pulled Mu Wan out of the corner her thoughts had backed her into.

“I have to go. The hospital car is here. Qianxiu is waiting for me at the hospital.” Xiao Tan nodded to her and walked out through the revolving door. Outside, an assistant handed him a stack of documents. He accepted them, every movement refined.

Mu Wan watched him go, then finally understood last night from a different angle.

Liu Qianxiu’s leaving might not have been a rejection.

She had been drunk, not in full control.

He was a gentleman.

He simply did not want to take advantage.

Mu Wan bit her straw, and her smile slowly spread.

It rained in Wen City.

The raindrops were small, but dense. In minutes, they could soak you through.

A drama did not have to be filmed strictly in order. Since it was raining today, Mu Wan shot her final death scene.

She wore a light gray cotton dress, white socks, and black leather shoes, the standard look for a Republican-era woman. The dress was loose. Her stomach was padded into a small swell.

She was to be murdered while pregnant.

The rain grew finer. The entire hospital seemed wrapped in a dark, heavy, dim cloud. The set was by the curved lake. The area had been cleared. No one remained, only the sound of rain striking water.

Mu Wan clutched her belly and ran, her face slick with heat, rain, and tears. It was impossible to tell. She held a bag of documents to her chest. Her square-toed black shoes slapped the ground, splashing muddy water.

She reached the lake and found the path blocked. She backed up, stumbled, and fell. Soaked through, her skirt coated in mud, she held out the documents, pleading as she crawled backward, arms protecting her belly.

The attacker took the documents. Murder rose in his eyes. He grabbed her from behind.

Mu Wan’s eyes filled with terror. She fought, protected her stomach, begged, cried for help, pleaded for mercy, every emotion visible in her face.

One shoe kicked off. With a loud splash, Mu Wan’s body sank into the water.

She flailed, drowning in panic written across her features. Then, as the struggle failed, she slipped downward, swallowed by the lake.

Multiple cameras captured the scene from different angles.

By a window, Liu Qianxiu watched, stitching the angles together in his mind.

Her acting was good. The scene almost passed in one take.

They hauled her out of the water, dripping. She stood behind the camera, listening as the director said something, likely praise. She smiled faintly.

She liked acting.

Liu Qianxiu could see that from just that one scene.

Someone handed her a towel. She wiped twice, then held an umbrella and headed toward the inpatient building. The crew’s changing room was there.

The rain did not stop. It washed the heat out of the air. Mu Wan was soaked, wrapped in a towel against the wind. Raindrops hammered her umbrella. A gust cut through, and she shivered so hard her teeth clicked.

She hurried into the inpatient building.

There was no way to shower. She dried herself with towels and changed into her own clothes. Rainy weather was damp and cold, and even her clothes felt slightly clammy, but it was still better than the wet costume. Her body warmed gradually. She coughed softly, wiped her hair, and stepped out of the changing room.

The moment she entered the corridor, she looked up and saw Liu Qianxiu waiting by the doorway.

Her gaze flickered. She smiled.

“Liu Qianxiu.” The nasal tone from her cold made it sound even softer.

She had cried hard in that scene. Her eyes were red, and the tip of her nose was pink. She rubbed it with her hand.

She had texted him that morning. He had replied: “You’re welcome. She had planned to contact him after filming.

She had not expected to see him here.

Maybe it was not an accident.

Mu Wan lifted her eyes to him. He looked down at her, calm as ever. Mu Wan shifted her weight, smiled, and curved her red eyes.

“I cried so hard just now, I cried the baby right out of me.”

In the scene, her character was pregnant.

What Liu Qianxiu thought of was another night: the passenger seat, the woman pushing her little, rounded belly forward under the seatbelt, teasing him about the empire he had built.

His gaze dropped to her flat stomach.

His lips moved.

He held something out.

A glass cup with a lid screwed tight. Clean glass reflecting the corridor lights. Inside the pale brown liquid, two clear bubbles climbed slowly toward the top.

“The baby’s gone, you can always have another,” Liu Qianxiu said. “Don’t catch a cold.”

Mu Wan’s heart lifted, and her smile brightened.

The air was still damp and cold. Mu Wan’s clothes were still thin. Yet warmth rose through her body fast, from toes to hair, like her blood had decided to sprint.

She took the cup.

It was still hot.

Freshly mixed banlangen.

She held the warm glass, fingers pale against it, and scratched lightly at the cup with her fingertips. Then she mumbled, so softly she thought only she could hear it.

“That only works if you’re willing to have one with me…~.”

She thought he hadn’t heard.

Then a low voice sounded beside her, so close it seemed to bite straight into the soft place under her ear and clamp around her heart.

“Hmm?”

Incurable Chapter 16 Part 1

A knock sounded at the door.

Liu Qianxiu released the mouse. His laptop screen was still bright, the file open in front of him packed tight with data and lines of text.

The room lights were on, clean and quiet. The floor-to-ceiling window to the balcony stood wide open. Liu Qianxiu pushed back his chair, walked to the door, and opened it.

The door faced the balcony. The moment it swung open, the airflow changed, and the room’s cool air rushed out, brushing Mu Wan’s face. It blew some of the heat from her cheeks away, and at the same time, it carried the alcohol on her breath into the open.

Mu Wan’s skin was pale. When she flushed, the red turned soft and pink, as blush dusted lightly over her whole face, like a peach just ripening. Beneath that peach-pink, her lips held a sheen of red, sweet and tempting.

“Liu Qianxiu,” she sang, tipping her face up. Her eyes curved, starlight bright inside them.

Liu Qianxiu’s gaze stayed calm. He looked down at her. The faint scent of liquor tangled with her fragrance, and even the breeze from the open window could not blow it away.

He spoke, voice low.

“Do you want some water?”

Her throat burned. Only when Liu Qianxiu said that did Mu Wan realize how dry she was. She licked her lower lip and nodded.

“Yes.”

Liu Qianxiu shifted aside, leaving space at the doorway. Mu Wan’s eyes went straight through the room, all the way to the balcony. She stepped inside, letting the cool air wash over her as she walked.

His room was similar to hers, except his was a king room and hers was a standard twin—same bathroom, TV, desk, and floor-to-ceiling window with a wide balcony. Because the bed was larger, a long counter-style vanity had been built between the bed and the bathroom.

The room itself was spare, clean, and quiet. Any trace of warmth a hotel room might offer seemed to vanish the moment Liu Qianxiu existed inside it. He looked calm, distant, ascetic. In reality, he had an unnerving kind of influence, as if everything he touched, every place he stood, even the people he met, were rinsed clear and left with something purer.

The kettle and cups were on the desk. The wooden desk stretched from the corner near the balcony all the way toward the bedside table. It looked different from the one in her room, likely something he had brought himself.

There was warm water in the kettle. Liu Qianxiu poured a glass. The clean glass was tall and slender, with a slightly thick base. As the water rose, Mu Wan listened to its soft sound, watched Liu Qianxiu in the light, and felt her body heat again.

She took a step closer.

“I can do it myself.”

The baijiu’s afterburn hit hard. Mu Wan had only stood there a moment, and her sense of balance slipped away. She swayed, let out a small sound, and reached for something to hold.

In a fall, people grab hard. Sometimes they pull the thing they grab down with them.

But what she grabbed did not move.

Not even a drop spilled from the glass.

Mu Wan had grabbed Liu Qianxiu’s shirt hem.

Her head lowered slightly. Her heartbeat hammered against her ears. Her earlobes burned. The linen texture under her fingers was a little stiff, but nothing was harder than the man beneath it.

Her warmth melted the cold air around them.

Mu Wan looked up at Liu Qianxiu once. He looked down at her, too. Her lashes trembled, as if the light had stabbed her eyes. She looked away, rose onto her toes, still holding his shirt hem, and leaned in to the rim of the glass.

Like a kitten.

Two small sips.

Her lips softened with water. So did her throat. Mu Wan felt unbearably hot, while the man beside her still seemed cool.

Her tongue moved slightly, and she lifted her eyes to him again.

The room fell into a deep quiet, broken only by the soft rustle of fabric brushing fabric.

Mu Wan stared at Liu Qianxiu. Her lips parted. Her hand loosened from his shirt hem, then slid wider, until her arms wrapped around his narrow, solid waist.

“You’re so… cool,” she murmured.

Her eyes were blurred with haze. Her warm breath spilled against the side of Liu Qianxiu’s pale throat. Mu Wan smiled and leaned in, pressing her cheek there.

The instant their skin met, heat and cold collided, and Mu Wan shivered slightly in his arms. The cool, clean feel soothed her heat. She suddenly felt tired. Holding him, she let her weight tip backward.

She did not fall.

Liu Qianxiu stood like a statue, steady and unmoving.

Mu Wan lifted her eyes, brows pinching into a small complaint, her voice edged with a soft, drunken grievance.

“I want to lie down.”

Alcohol breathed out with every word.

Liu Qianxiu looked down at her, clearly drunk, and pressed his lips together. He set the glass aside. The heavy base of the cup hit the wooden desk with a dull sound.

Mu Wan lost her balance.

In the next breath, she was guided down.

Her back sank into the soft bed, and she felt the mattress dip with the weight of his hands near her head. Liu Qianxiu braced himself above her, hovering without actually pressing into her, but the moment he leaned down, Mu Wan was surrounded by his scent.

Her body heated again.

They were close. Close enough that Mu Wan could not stop looking at his mouth, her body felt like it was melting. Her lips trembled. Heat clogged her throat.

In his arms, she was all softness and sweetness, cheeks flushed pale pink, eyes shining as they fixed on him without blinking.

Liu Qianxiu held himself still, hands planted on either side of her, looking into her eyes.

It felt like a standoff.

After a long moment, the man above her spoke first. He let out a low sigh, calm as ever.

“You weren’t like this the last time you got drunk.”

Mu Wan’s pupils tightened.

Liu Qianxiu lifted her hand from his waist and set it down. Then he picked her up properly and placed her on the bed. Mu Wan lay flat on the soft mattress. Her heat began to cool, slowly.

Beside her, he said in a low voice, “Sleep for a while.”

He turned off the main light, then returned to the desk. He switched on the small desk lamp. The lamp’s light poured down and wrapped him in a single circle.

He pulled out the chair and sat, continuing the work he had not finished.

As the alcohol fermented inside her, the man in her vision blurred more and more.

Yet Mu Wan felt increasingly awake.

Her head began to ache, slow and heavy.

Alcohol made cowards brave. She had the courage now. She even had the seduction.

But he had refused.

Under the lamp, Liu Qianxiu looked focused, calm, coldly beautiful. His long fingers clicked the mouse, his gaze steady.

One lonely lamp. One book. One immortal.

Immortals did not have ordinary desires. He might someday move his heart, but not now—maybe not for her.

As the heat faded, Mu Wan began to feel cold. She curled slightly under the blanket.

Liu Qianxiu noticed. He lifted his head.

On the bed, Mu Wan’s eyes were shut. Under her black hair, her small face had turned pale again. Her red lips pressed tight. Under the blanket, her body had curled into a small ball.

Liu Qianxiu stood, walked to the door, and turned off the central air.

The cold gradually disappeared. From the open balcony, warm, humid air drifted in. The sky had turned overcast all afternoon. It felt like rain.

Disappointed and dulled, Mu Wan stayed curled up, her mind emptying, until she fell asleep for real.

Her breathing deepened. Outside, the wind moved through tree branches.

Liu Qianxiu’s gaze left the laptop screen and landed on the sleeping woman. She slept, but not peacefully, hands outside the blanket, clutching it, brows faintly drawn.

He watched her for a moment. The wind grew stronger, carrying the wet scent of rain. He looked toward the balcony.

He rose quietly. The room’s silence did not break.

On the balcony, fine raindrops blew in with the wind.

It had started raining.

Liu Qianxiu closed the glass doors and returned inside. He glanced once at the bed. Mu Wan showed no sign of waking.

He looked away and left the room.

Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 255

~ STAY IN JIYUE PAVILION ~

After talking for a while longer, Old Madam Sun looked tired.

The Eldest Madam said thoughtfully, “Today is a hard day. Sister Su Qing and Yao’er must be tired. If you don’t mind, why don’t we go back early and rest? We will come again tomorrow to pay our respects to the Old Madam.”

Su Qing bowed to the Old Madam, “Mother looks tired, so your daughter won’t disturb you any longer.”

The Old Madam nodded. She was smiling, but her eyes were calm. “Yes.”

After everyone had left, the Old Madam called Wen Mama over. “How do you think about them when you pick up Su Qing and her daughter?”

Wen Mama looked at the Old Madam’s cold expression, her heart slightly moving. “Madam Su is your biological daughter, and she naturally would be so good.”

The Old Madam chuckled softly. “Since when have you been so secretive in front of me? This good..., how good is it?”

Wen Mama became more and more confused about what she meant, so she could only consider her word and say: “Madam is gentle and kind, and her temperament is very peaceful. Miss Mu is meticulous, and she has a decisive mind when she does things. If you let the maid choose, you really can’t pick out anything bad.”

“Decisive?” The Old Madam slowly raised her eyelids, “A girl in the family, doesn’t he have to get married and have children in the future. Right now, she is running a clothes shop or teahouse. That isn’t my Su family’s style in making a public appearance.”

Wen Mama’s heart trembled, and she lowered her head, too afraid to speak.

The Old Madam paused for a moment before asking again, “Are there any servants around them?”

“Madam and Miss Mu brought quite a few people with them, so only Zhou Mama, Ying Xue, and Jian Chun are left.”

The Old Madam frowned, “They must have a lot of unaccustomedness when they first came to the Capital, so send Mo Yu to them.”

“Yes, Madam.” Wen Mama quickly replied, but she couldn’t help but mutter in her heart. Mo Yu is the eldest girl by the Old Madam’s side, and she’s always very attentive in her daily service, so Wen Mama doesn’t know the purpose of this move.

After exiting the Old Madam’s courtyard, Su Qing and Mu Yunyao followed Zhou Mama to the Jiyue Pavilion. Along the way, the maids and manservants all held their breath, then retreated to the side to pay their respects.

Su Qing and Mu Yunyao walked straight over, followed by Jin Lan, Jin Qiao, and Si Qin, all of whom were well-mannered and courteous, without any disrespect.

After they left, people couldn’t help but start whispering to each other.

“It’s not that Madam and Miss Biao have been living outside for many years, and they also grew up in the countryside. No matter how you look at them, their bearing is extremely noble.”

“The Masters are naturally extraordinary, especially that Miss Biao, who has an exceedingly attractive appearance. Her face is so fair and tender that she seems to shine. Looking at her looks that can crush a person’s surface, it really makes one envious …”

Jiyue Pavilion was remarkably magnificent, with all sorts of flowers and arranged in an orderly manner. There was a watery rock garden, a lotus pond in the corner pavilion and connected by the Jiuqu corridor bridge. Each step was very captivating.

The main house imitates the Jiangnan architectural style, which has two floors, a small attic, and wing-shaped eaves on the side. Amongst the stable and grand buildings, it was exceptionally unique and exquisite.

Mu Yunyao came here with Su Qing. With a slight smile on her face, she asked, “Did Mother feel any familiarity when she looked at Jiyue Pavilion?”

Su Qing looked around the room and couldn’t help but smile. “It’s very similar to the buildings in Jingling City.”

“That’s right. It must be very comfortable to live here.”

Zhou Mama said with a smile: “It’s good that Madam and Young Miss like it. This place was originally a place where the young misses played and entertained their guests. All the items were complete, and the arrangement was very exquisite. If you have anything you want to change, feel free to tell me. This servant will report it to the Eldest Madam so she can send people to arrange it.”

Mu Yunyao blinked, “Zhou Mama, Can I change the things here? You also know that I brought quite a few things from Jiangnan, and a lot of them are already used to using them. If they can be changed, I will change some of them.”

“Of course, it is possible. The Eldest Madam has instructed us to leave everything to Madam and Young Miss’s arrangements.”

Mu Yunyao has a bright smile on her face. “That’s good. Jin Lan, Jin Qiao, you guys can go and arrange it.”

Soon after, Mu Yunyao’s things brought in, causing Jin Lan and Jin Qiao to become busy.

When the Eldest Madam returned to Qiushi Garden, she asked someone to look for Liu Mama. When she heard that Liu Mama had broken a leg, her brows twitched, and her expression darkened.

Liu Mama was helped in by someone and walked in. Seeing the Eldest Madam, she immediately kneeled down, grimacing in pain. “This servant didn’t do my job properly. Please punish me, Madam.”

The Eldest Madam’s expression was cold as her gaze swept across her legs and her voice asked faintly, “What’s going on? Did she hurt your leg when you went to pick her up?”

“This servant accidentally fell down the stairs. I was unlucky and ended up breaking my leg.” Liu Mama felt her chest blocked in panic. When she fell and got injured, many people saw that Mu Yunyao and Su Qing were also in their room, and it was so far away from her so she couldn’t find any other excuses.

The Eldest Madam raised her eyes. “How could you be so careless? Are you using medicine?”

“This..., there are all kinds of medicinal materials on the boat, and I have used them.”

“Mmm, it’s not easy to make a difficult trip anyway. You’ll go down to collect ten taels of silver and rest properly. You’ll come back to serve me after you’ve rested.”

Liu Mama didn’t expect herself would get rewarded, and she froze on the spot. When she came back to her senses, she hurriedly expressed her gratitude. Her face filled with joy and gratitude. “Thank you, Madam! Thank you, Madam!”

“Let’s go down and have a rest.”

After Liu Mama left, Su Yuyi took the teacup and walked to the Eldest Madam’s side, “To welcome Auntie and Cousin Yunyao back, Mother has been very tired these days. Daughter personally brewed some tranquil tea and asked Mother to have a taste.”

Looking at Su Yuyi’s devastatingly beautiful face, the Eldest Madam caressed the tassels in her ear and said, “It’s still my daughter who knows how to love her mother. Unlike your big brother, it’s been so long since we’ve seen each other.”

“Big Brother was ordered by the Emperor to follow the Third Prince to the front lines to reward the three armies. Big Brother is someone who has done great things and wants to help the Emperor share his burdens. That’s why the Emperor allowed his mother to have a daughter like me stay with you as a present to honor you.” Su Yuyi smiled, and the smile was like a flower. Even the surrounding atmosphere seemed to be brightened by her.

The Eldest Madam pressed the stick in her heart, and the smile on her face couldn’t stop, “If it were not for you and your brother, why would Mother work so hard for so many years?”

Su Yuyi walked up to the Eldest Madam and gently held her shoulders, “Mother’s hard work, Daughter completely see in the eyes. In the future, I will definitely fight for Mother!”

The Eldest Madam was satisfied, “There was news that was released that the Grand Princess may return to the Palace during this Mid-Autumn Festival. You should know that every time the Grand Princess returns to the Palace, the Emperor will overjoy, and he will definitely hold the big banquet. You always keep in mind the news that came out a few days ago. You can’t make any mistakes at the banquet.”

“Don’t worry, Mother. As long as that information is true, your daughter will definitely live up to your expectations.”

The Eldest Madam looked down at Su Yuyi’s face, and her smile became even more genuine, “If my daughter’s beauty and talents do not enter the Grand Princess’s eyes, then no one else will have a chance.”
