ReplyDeleteIt really seems that the author was more interested in describing Yunyao's clothes than giving any time to explaining anything about the hair-pinning ceremony. It's mentioned that 4 hair pins are used, but there's nothing about why four are used or why she needed to change clothes. Even just a single sentence going something like 'the four hair pins, representing X, Y and Z' would have been enough to give at least a little context.
