Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 475

~ INSANE CHENG EUNUCH ~

There was a smile on Yue Wang’s face: “I also think that Jin Wang is deliberately showing weakness.”

Mu Yunyao couldn’t help but let out a sneer, “It’s a great move to retreat in order to advance. Jin Wang really knows how to grasp the opportunity. The Emperor knew that when the princes were older, it was inevitably a struggle and disputes between them. But he did not want to lose his distinction in the Imperial Court. Jin Wang deliberately showed weakness, and Ling Wang’s men after him, so the Emperor inevitably would think that he had suppressed Jin Wang too much. If he wanted Jin Wang to regain his strength, he could only promote the officials who supported Jin Wang, and the Su family is the best chess piece.”

Yue Wang nodded and looked appreciatively at Mu Yunyao: “Furthermore, many of Yu Wang’s elite officials have been bribed by Jin Wang to secretly help him with his work. This has caused the situation to spiral out of control and caused Imperial Father to feel even more uneasy.”

Mu Yunyao’s eyes sunk, her voice carrying an indescribable coldness. “I know .... That person has always been willing to do anything for the sake of his goal....”

“Yunyao ….” Yue Wang looked at her worriedly, “Who are you talking about? Jin Wang?”

Mu Yunyao suddenly came back to her senses. “It’s nothing. Although investigating Jiangnan’s salt tax from Yang Lian is easier, he’s still a third-grade official in the Imperial Court. How does Your Royal Highness plan to obtain evidence?”

“In Yang Lian’s official performance examination this year, he was awarded an upper-tier A grade.”

“The official’s eperformance examination?”

“That’s right. The chief inspector responsible for checking the officials’ performance examination is Grand Commandant Zou Min. A few days ago, my people found out that Zou Min had secretly accepted bribes and had tampered with the official performance examination.” Yue Wang lightly knocked on the table, “Let’s start with Zou Min. First, let’s call back Yang Lian’s performance examination and put him in the Ministry of Justice’s prison.”

“Ministry of Justice?” Mu Yunyao thought carefully, “Your Royal Highness, the Minister of Justice is taking refuge in Ling Wang. Do you want to use Ling Wang’s hand to uncover this matter?”

“That’s right. Although my situation has improved now, I am still a prince that is not valued and doted upon by Imperial Father. Only by pushing this matter to Ling Wang that it would be able to make Jin Wang lose his power and prevent him from turning over.”

Mu Yunyao’s fingertips trembled. “Your Royal Highness, although the princes in the Dali Dynasty are a bit repulsed by you, they’re all related by blood. Have you made your decision yet?”

Yue Wang turned his head, “Yunyao, do you think I’m cold-blooded and ruthless?”

“For a man to want to reap any benefits from his life, he must have suffered some losses. When I was unaware of my true identity and thought I was from the Su family, I showed no mercy to the Eldest Madam and Su Yuyi. Does Your Royal Highness think that I’m cold-blooded?”

A smile appeared on the lips of Yue Wang, and his gaze on Mu Yunyao was filled with warmth. The two of them were the same person, so they understood each other’s choices and practices better. They don’t need to talk too much, and they don’t need to test each other.

After Mu Yunyao and Yue Wang finished discussing, she felt a little hungry in her stomach. When Yunyao looked around, she discovered that she had already been in the study for almost an hour, so she hurriedly stood up. “It’s getting late, so I should go back.”

“Eunuch Cheng should be prepared by now. You should go back after eating.”

Mu Yunyao slightly hesitated before craftily blinking her eyes, “Then I won’t be courteous to Fourth Imperial Uncle.”

Yue Wang couldn’t help but laugh: “No need to be courteous. After all, I still owe you a lot of silver.”

During the meal’s preparation, Eunuch Cheng almost stared out a hole at the chef in the Kitchen. The chef was so scared that he could not even cut vegetables. “Eunuch Cheng, do you think this plate of gold and jade is all right?”

Eunuch Cheng looked at him carefully and took a closer look. “It’s not bad. Send it up then. Ah, wait a minute, the chef next to you, what kind of dish are you cooking?”

“This....” The chef looked at the osmanthus fish in the wok. Could it be that Eunuch Cheng didn’t recognize this? “Eunuch, this is an osmanthus fish....”

“What osmanthus fish? You can’t even think of a better name. This is clearly many children and many blessings... I will just say it when the dishes are served.”

Yu Yi walked over and couldn’t help but stagger when he heard these words “Eunuch Cheng, this isn’t a good idea.”

“What’s wrong with you?” Cheng glared at Yu Yi, but he didn’t have any eyesight. Wang Ye was like an iron tree in bloom, and it wasn’t easy for him to fall in love with someone. If he missed out on Miss Mu, who knows if he might end up lonely or die alone in the future. Can he help keep people without any effort?

Yu Yi swallowed a mouthful of saliva. This Eunuch Cheng was much stronger than Steward Qin, and it wasn’t easy for Brother Yu Heng.

When the dishes were set up, Eunuch Chen introduced them to Mu Yunyao: “Miss, the cooking skills of the house’s chefs are quite crude. I hope that Miss will not mind. Please take a look at this dish … … ‘Affectionate’....”

Mu Yunyao looked at the shredded vegetable salad on the table. When did it change its name?

Yue Wang couldn’t help but raise his hand to his mouth and cough lightly. He picked up a pair of chopsticks and placed them in front of Mu Yunyao, “Have a try. The taste is pretty good.”The affection is continuous, so the taste was naturally good.

The smile on Eunuch Cheng’s face grew wider. “Look at this dish. This dish is called ‘Flying Together’....”

Mu Yunyao looked at the braised chicken on the plate. A pair of bare wings was made very conspicuous by being placed outside.

“And this one … A hundred years of harmony... This is a house full of gold and jade... Many children and many blessings...”

Mu Yunyao suddenly felt that she couldn’t bring herself to lower her chopsticks.

Yu Heng and Yu Yi stood guard at the entrance, enduring the laughter very hard.

Yue Wang could not help but cough dryly again: “Uncle Cheng, go to the kitchen and urge for some stomach nourishing soup.”

“Alright, then this old servant will go take a look if the long life together soup is ready.”

Mu Yunyao looked at the big table of dishes and couldn’t help but laugh out loud while covering her lips.

Yue Wang secretly let out a breath of relief. It was good that Yunyao wasn’t angry.

The meal was very heartwarming, the cooking skills of Yue Wang’s Palace’s chef were not bad, and when Mu Yunyao left, she was satisfied with the food.

As soon as she returned to Qinfang Garden, he saw a smiling Yu Wang. “Greetings, Second Imperial Uncle.”

“Yunyao, no need to stand on ceremony. Come, this jade pendant is for you to play with. I still have some pearls in my mansion, so I’ll have someone deliver them to you tomorrow.”

“Then I would like to thank Second Imperial Uncle.”

“Hmm, if Imperial Aunt invites Min next time … Old Madam Chu to come to the Grand Princess’s Mansion, you must also remind me to pay my respects in time.”

“Alright, since I’ve accepted Second Imperial Uncle’s gift, I definitely won’t forget.”

Jin Lan stepped forward to Mu Yunyao and helped her receive the jade pendant. She couldn’t help but exclaim in admiration, “Your Royal Highness Yu Wang is really good to Miss Min.”

“That’s right.” Mu Yunyao withdrew her gaze and went to greet the Grand Princess in her courtyard.

Yu Wang did not return to his residence after exiting the Qinfang Garden. Instead, he went to find Yue Wang.

Just as Yue Wang had ordered people to use their connections in secret to expose Zou Min’s case of being profane, he heard his subordinate report that Yu Wang was here.

“Didn’t Second Imperial Brother go to pay respects to Imperial Aunt? Why are you back so soon?”

“Imperial Aunt thought I was being long-winded and didn’t keep me for dinner. But I smell that Fourth Imperial Brother’s dishes were extremely fragrant and delicious. I wonder if you could give me some to eat?”

“From the look of Second Imperial Brother, you should not be in the mood to eat.” Yue Wang sized up Yu Wang’s expression, and a little thought flashed in his heart.

Yu Wang drank a mouthful of tea and raised his eyes to look at Yue Wang: “Fourth Imperial Brother, you and I do not have much to hide. I have something to say, and I’ll be frank with you. You should have already broken off your relationship with Mu Yunyao, right?”

Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 474

~ I WILL BELIEVE IT AS LONG AS YOU SAY IT ~

Yu Wang could not help but twitch his mouth when he saw Yue Wang’s serious look. Did he really think that he was an idiot that could not see his careful thinking? If it were an ordinary family, then it would have been fine. However, Yunyao was Imperial Aunt’s granddaughter, and she had a generation difference from Fourth Imperial Brother. He had to think of a way to persuade Fourth Imperial Brother. If this angered Imperial Father, then it would be detrimental to him.

Mu Yunyao followed Yue Wang to the study, and Eunuch Cheng brought over a charcoal pot and fragrant tea, placing them by Mu Yunyao’s side. “Young Miss, could you try this fragrant tea brewing method? Previously, you gave me some tips for brewing tea, so this servant went back to practice for a long time.”

The tea was almost finished. Fortunately, it wasn’t wasted and was given to Yu Heng and the other guards to drink. The critical consequence was that those kids would cover their stomachs and run to the toilet whenever they saw him. It’s really humiliating.

Yue Wang looked at Yu Wang: “Second Imperial Brother, didn’t you say just now that you would enter the Palace to pay respects to Imperial Father? It should be about the time now.”

Yu Wang smiled, “There’s no rush. I can go there later in the evening.”

Mu Yunyao slightly raised the corner of her lips. “When I came here just now, I heard Grandmother mumbling about Second Imperial Uncle. She said that it’s been a long time since she has seen you and paid respects to her at the Grand Princess’s Mansion.”

Yu Wang could not help but widen his eyes. These two people were not diligent in finding excuses and were obviously trying to chase him away.

“After I enter the Palace and pay my respects to Imperial Father, I will visit the Grand Princess.”

“That’s a pity. Grandmother saw Old Madam Chu today and heard that Miss Min also came with her. If Second Imperial Uncle went over to pay his respects now, you might even meet her.”

As soon as the Second Prince heard it, his eyes lit up. He and Min Fanghua, the eldest granddaughter of Elder Min, were engaged. But, because of Empress Dowager’s funeral and the national mourning period, they could only postpone the wedding. During this period of postponement, his relationship with Miss Min got along. Seeing that the wedding date was approaching, the Min family devoted themselves to teaching her various rules and not letting her go out. He had missed her a long time ago. But now, when he hears that he has the opportunity to meet each other, he can’t sit still.

There was a smile in Yue Wang’s eyes as he said, “Second Imperial Brother, hurry up and go. There’s no rush in paying respects to Imperial Father.”

“That’s great. I also miss Imperial Aunt too. It’s just right for me to go pay my respects.”

After Yu Wang left in a hurry, the smile in Yue Wang’s eyes vanished. “Yunyao, you came in a hurry. Your expression isn’t that good either. Did something important happen?”

Mu Yunyao pursed her lips. After remembering the matter from her memories, her first reaction was to come here and discuss it with Yue Wang. She didn’t even consider whether he believed her or not. What would he think after hearing his words?

Seeing her eyes flickering lightly, Yue Wang waited quietly with a look of hesitation on his face.

After a long while, Mu Yunyao finally made up her mind. “Your Royal Highness, I … I have something to say, and you may think it’s a little weird, but....”

“Yunyao, there’s no need to be like this between us. I mightn’t believe in anyone, but I definitely believe in you. If there’s anything you want to say, just say it.”

“For the past few days, I’ve been feeling uneasy. At night, I always had nightmares about a flood in Linjiang City. Afterward, the ship was transporting tax silvers sank directly into the river, causing all tax silvers to fall into the water and disappear without a trace.”

Yue Wang suddenly raised his head. “Linjiang City’s flood?”

Mu Yunyao nodded. When the incident happened in her previous life, she had struggled to survive in the Su family’s residence. Su Yuyi had taken donating silver to provide food to the victims and gained a superb reputation for kindness. Later on, the Su family had helped Su Yuyi set up a banquet, and she had been asked to attend with an exception. She knew there was a flood in Linjiang City when she heard about the discussion, which washed away a large amount of salt tax revenue. People along the coast had been displaced, and many victims had flooded into the Capital.

Initially, she only heard it once before the incident at Huguo Temple, where she almost lost her life. As a result, she had forgotten about this matter.

Today, she heard Jin Lan say that the weather was much hotter, and some scenes suddenly flashed into her mind. Before the river broke the wall in Linjiang City, the weather was exceptionally sultry for a while. Later on, when the matter of the river breaking through came about, many people said that the weather was abnormal. The heavens warned them, but unfortunately, no one could understand it.

Yue Wang involuntarily stood up and started pacing back and forth in the study.

Mu Yunyao retracted her gaze and waited quietly at the side for Yue Wang’s response. She could only bring this matter up in a dreaming way. She did not know how much Yue Wang would believe such an incredible thing.

After a while, Yue Wang suddenly stopped, “Yunyao, this matter is too important. We need to consider it further and think about it from a long-term perspective. The waters along the river are vast, and every February, when the ice melts, spring floods will occur. However, the winter rains in recent years have not been abundant, so it has not caused too much-hidden danger. This year should be no different from the previous years. But this time, the river broke through the wall and happened to wash away a lot of salt tax revenue. Thus, no matter how you look at it, this is not normal.”

Mu Yunyao suddenly raised her eyes, “Your Royal Highness believes what I say?”

“How could I not believe it?” Yue Wang looked at Mu Yunyao, his eyes filled with trust and resolution. “I already said that I will believe you as long as you speak. Moreover, this matter is too important, so you definitely won’t joke around.”

Mu Yunyao felt the warmth in her heart as she quickly looked away, “Then has Your Royal Highness thought of a way to deal with this?”

“I have been cleaned up Bu Xian Luo. Bu Xian Luo has been arranged for so long and consumed much in manpower and material resources. It’s about time to use some of our resources for useful purposes. This incident’s most likely due to the Jiangnan salt tax, so let’s start with the salt tax.”

Mu Yunyao shook her head slightly. “The Jiangnan salt tax is far too important and is beyond our reach. It would be difficult for us to shake up the many salt merchants in Jiangnan with just our power. It would be better to find another way and find someone to make an opening for us.”

Yue Wang stopped, turned around, and looked over, “What you mean is … Yang Lian, Liangjiang salt transport envoy?”

Mu Yunyao nodded. “That’s right. Doesn’t Your Royal Highness feel that everything is too coincidental? The news spread that there was a problem with the salt tax in Jiangnan, and soon after, Liangjiang’s envoy, Yang Lian, returned to the Capital with Su Jin. We suspect that the silver in Jin Wang’s hands came from an illegal source, so we could said that Yang Lian and Jin Wang had contact... Things have always had a reason, and I don’t believe there will be so many coincidences.”

“Imperial Father recently intended to reinstate the Su family and praised Yang Lian, Liangjiang’s envoy. He wanted to transfer him to the Ministry of Public Affairs, temporarily replacing Su Wenyuan, who retired as the Minister.”

“The Minister?” Mu Yunyao was puzzled. The Minister of the Ministry of Public Affairs had just taken it back from Su Wenyuan but now was going to hand it to Su Jin’s husband, Yang Lian. Wasn’t this the equivalent of swapping his left hand for his right? Is there any difference?

Yue Wang saw her frown, and his expression turned serious: “Recently, the First Prince and the Third Prince have been fighting, and Jin Wang was defeated in battles. Even though he proposed the method to reform the plow, he was still unable to gain much momentum.”

“Even if the previous incident had some impact on Jin Wang, it would not have caused his men to be unable to lift their heads. Unless … Jin Wang did it on purpose?”

Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 473

~ WHO DID IT SECRETLY? ~

Those ladies and young ladies who had obtained a spot in advance and ordered clothes were brimming with joy. Even when they heard someone say something sour, they did not care. First, Ni Yun Fang’s clothes have never disappointed anyone. Second, even if the clothes made from Ni Yun Fang had no effect after being put on, they could keep in the bottom of the cabinet. Mu Yunyao is now the granddaughter of Grand Princess Yi De and has been personally conferred the title of Princess Wenxian by the Emperor. It is like spending a lot of money to please this new Princess.

After receiving this batch of clothes orders, Mu Yunyao temporarily closed Ni Yun Fang and urged the embroidery ladies to weave the clothes with great care throughout the day. Ni Yun Fang had recruited quite a few embroidery ladies. With sufficient manpower, she strove to have their clothes made as soon as possible.

In Yue Wang’s Palace, Yu Yi was half-kneeling on the ground, and his face slightly pale: “Master, your subordinate has investigated thoroughly and cleared up the six people in Bu Xian Luo. Those six people are all Death Soldiers, and they were the ones who stopped us from finding out about the Jiangnan Salt Tax, but we did not ask about the identity of their Master.”

Yue Wang’s expression was deserted, and his deep eyes were bottomless: “There are only a few people who have the ability to use Death Soldiers. It’s easy to guess.”

Yu Yi lowered his head, not daring to make a sound. After all, this matter involved the princes. No matter which one, they would be tough to deal with.

“Is there any news about the Jiangnan salt tax payment?”

“Ten days ago, the newly-appointed salt transportation envoy in Linjiang City suddenly died of a serious illness. Everything went on as usual. According to the Yang Zhou City’s Si Cha, the taxes were found to be intact, and there were no problems in various accounts.”

Yue Wang frowned slightly: “There must be a reason behind all this. If there isn’t anything good, there shouldn’t be any rumors. Furthermore, if there are no problems, those spies would not risk their exposure by trying to intercept the news. Yunyao is right, and it is interesting to see that Jin Wang is generous and has so much money at his disposal.”

At Yunyao’s coming of age ceremony, the presents given by Jin Wang were exceptionally generous. It was even comparable to the gifts given by First Prince.

The Li family, the maternal family of Ling Wang, had existed for many years, and the Li family background was not something an ordinary person could match. It is justifiable to spend a lot of money, but Jin Wang did not have any profitable businesses under his command. It was not enough to win over the court official by just relying on the prince’s salary and a bit of filial piety, not to mention sending a generous gift to Yunyao.

“Master, your subordinate will continue investigating.”

“Alright.”

In the Qinfang Garden, Mu Yunyao put on a white silk dress and gently tousled her wet hair behind her back.

The garden was filled with spring water, so it was only natural that there should be a hot pool specially prepared for bathing.

At this moment, the water vapors around the hot pool were dense. The water surface was covered with rose petals, and a faint fragrance of roses could be smelled. Mu Yunyao, who had just finished her bath, had a blush on her cheeks. Her skin was as white and tender as fine white jade as if it would shine, and it felt like it could be broken easily by a blow.

After wrapping herself in a cloak, they arrived at Jiao Xiang greenhouse. Jin Lan and Jin Qiao hurriedly went to help her dry her hair. “Miss’s hair is so beautiful. It’s like fine silk and satin. This servant doesn’t even dare to use force, afraid that r that the rough fingers would hurt Miss.”

Mu Yunyao couldn’t help but smile, “Why is your mouth so sweet today?”

“This servant is speaking the truth and not to coax Miss to be happy.”

“That’s right. Where’s Mother? Why hasn’t she come over?”

“Madam said that she wanted to learn Zither, and Her Royal Highness the Grand Princess is personally teaching her, so she said that she has no time to play with Miss.”

Mu Yunyao couldn’t help but laugh, “Now I have become who has nothing to do.”

Jin Qiao said softly, “Miss, there has been some trouble with the Su family again.”

Mu Yunyao’s eyelids slightly trembled. Her watery eyelashes appeared exceptionally thick, dark, and long. “Did Lady Zhang and the Sixth Princess are make trouble again?”

“No, it was the Old Madam of the Su family. It was said that she had fallen sick in her sleep in the middle of the night. Then, she had injured Wen Mama and Doctor Lin. The maidservants didn’t notice and allowed her to fall off the bed. But I don’t know how it happened that it was so coincidental when she fell, just she happened to hit the copper basin at the foot of the bed and broke her two arms all at once. It is not easy to get better when they get hit as people get older. Now that she has broken both arms, she’ll need to rest for a while.”

Mu Yunyao’s heart stirred. A few days ago, Zhang Wan came to say that Old Madam said through gestures that she had harmed the Su family. In just a few short days, she had broken her arm. Is it a coincidence or someone deliberately?

“The Old Madam of the Su family is getting older, and she usually uses some good medicinal ingredients to recuperate and nurse her. The anger in Grandmother’s heart hasn’t been released yet. Don’t let anyone have an accident easily, lest Grandmother’s heart will not be able to express her anger, and she will feel uncomfortable in her heart.”

“Yes.”

After carefully wiping the latest rose-scented dew on her body, Mu Yunyao put on her clothes and went to the front yard.

The weather these two days was relatively warm. Many flowers bloomed one after another, filling the air with the feeling of spring.

Mu Yunyao took two steps forward and couldn’t help but raise her head to look at the sky. The sunlight was exceptionally bright and warm, shining brightly on people, and it even brought a trace of hot air. “This year’s spring seems to be warmer than usual.”

“That’s right. This servant heard that February’s cold weather in the Capital is still very cool. This year is actually quite special.”

Mu Yunyao’s hand was raised to block the sunlight, but she suddenly stiffened, “This spring’s day is particularly warmer....”

“Miss, what’s the matter with you?” Jin Lan asked as she saw something wrong with her face.

“I’m not going to see Mother. Help me prepare a carriage. I want to make a trip to Yue Wang’s Palace.”

Jin Lan was a little hesitant. “Miss, Her Royal Highness the Eldest Princess has specifically instructed me to keep go out less for a few days, especially from Yue Wang’s Palace. Your identity is different from usual, so it’s too eye-catching to go through like this.”

“Hurry up and prepare. I’ll explain everything to Grandmother.” Mu Yunyao’s tone carried some anxiety. When Jin Lan heard the order, she hurriedly went down to give instructions. Miss rarely used such a tone to talk. Once she spoke, it was bound to be something important.

She rushed to Yue Wang’s Palace, and just as she entered the door, she saw Yu Yi, who was waiting for her at the entrance.

“Greetings, Princess Wenxian.”

“Yu Yi? It’s been a long time since to see you. Is Steward Qin alright?”

“I’m sorry to bother Princess Wenxian to worry about it. Steward Qin is going well, but he misses you very much, so he always mentions you from time to time.”

“After coming to the Capital, I rarely send letters to Jingling City, and it’s my fault. Is Wang Ye in residence?”

Yu Yi hurriedly invited Mu Yunyao into the residence. “Wang Ye is in the study, but Your Royal Highness Yu Wang is also here.”

Mu Yunyao’s eyebrows twitched. Just as she considered whether she should come to visit again another day, she saw Yu Wang and Yue Wang walk over.

Yu Wang smiled brightly, “Why is Yunyao here?”

“Greetings, Ssecond Imperial Uncle.” Mu Yunyao hurriedly bowed.

Yue Wang swept his hand through her hair, which still had a moist air at the end of her hair. It seemed that he had just bathed and had not completely dried up. “Come to the study room. Eunuch Cheng, go and prepare a charcoal pot for me.”

Yu Wang’s eyes widened. “Fourth Imperial Brother, what season is it now? Why are you still using a charcoal pot?” Yue Wang nodded expressionlessly: “Mm, I’m cold!”

Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 472

~ GRAP, HURRY UP, AND TAKE IT ~

Xu Yanhan was taken aback and bit her lower lip in embarrassment, “Mother....”

“The Su family ruined your entire life. If it wasn’t for Yao’er coincidentally bringing you to Jingling City, even her entire life would have been destroyed. Wouldn’t you be able to deal with such an enemy?”

Xu Yanhan thought of Yao’er’s previous life experience, and her eyes flashed with intense hatred, “Mother, I promise. I will deal with the Su family.”

Grand Princess Yi De smiled. “Fine. Yanhan, do you think I’m forcing you?”

“How could that be? Mother did it for my own good.” She understood that doting a child is like killing a child.

“I have yet to explain Yao’er’s side, but I can reveal something to you. You have already witnessed the matters regarding Yao’er and Yue Wang. During this time, their relationship had been changed constantly, and both of them were absent-minded. They must be suffering greatly in hearts when they think about it.”
“Yes…”

“Actually, the two of them can be together.” The Grand Princess Yi De sighed.

Su Qing suddenly raised her head. “Mother, what you said is... Did you agree that they should break through the restrictions…”

The Grand Princess Yi De shook her head. “It’s just a matter of fact. Yue Wang … ... It’s not the Emperor’s bloodline.”

Su Qing’s eyes widened, and her eyes were full of shock: “This...how is this possible?”

“In the beginning, I can’t say what happened, but Yue Wang is already investigating, and I think some traces will be found soon, which is extremely unfavorable for him. Yao’er could bear the pain of giving up her relationship with Yue Wang, considering she was connected to his blood relatives. But when Yue Wang investigated his life experience, Yaoer didn’t have the concern of blood relatives in her heart, and she would definitely be desperate to be with him. When that happens....”

Xu Yanhan could not help but shiver, “The crime of confounding the royal bloodline is too great. Once Yue Wang is investigated thoroughly, he will definitely face death. When that happens … Yao’er, she …” How was she supposed to act?

The more cold-blooded a person is, the deeper his feelings become. Yunyao and Yue Wang were both like this. Although Yunyao did not say anything, her heart was already filled with deep feelings for him. Why would she need to be entangled for such a long time?

Grand Princess Yi De sighed heavily, “Yanhan, we can no longer change the past. The only thing we can do now is clear the obstacles in advance and help Yunyao and Yue Wang gain a foothold. We hope that the day the truth is revealed, they who are in the middle of a torrent will have a piece of driftwood to save their lives.”

Xu Yanhan nodded heavily, “Mother, I understand.”

Princess Yi De held Su Qing’s hand and said earnestly, “Yanhan, don’t worry too much. You are my daughter. No one dares to provoke you in the Capital, and it is easy for you to deal with the Su family with this identity.”

“I can!” Xu Yanhan’s expression was solemn, “Mother, for Yao’er, I dare to do anything.”

“En, rest well tonight. From tomorrow, you will completely abandon your identity as Su Qing and become the daughter of the Grand Princess Yi De, Ning Wanyi. Also, become the first-class Lady Hui Yi bestowed by the Emperor personally!”

“Yes.”

Mu Yunyao returned to her room, but she still worried about her mother in her heart.

Jin Lan waited for her to change into a new set of clothes before massaging her shoulders. “Miss, there’s no need to worry too much. The Grand Princess might have something to say to Madam on her own.”

Mu Yunyao slightly sighed. “Although Mother doesn’t say it, she had always had doubts in her heart. Since Grandmother acknowledged her as her child, she will definitely push her one step further. After living in peace and stability for many years, Mother’s temperament has already been settled, and everything changed suddenly, which is equivalent to putting people into the fire to temper. The pain caused by the metamorphosis is not something that a normal person can endure.”

“Miss, this servant doesn’t know if what I say is true. If what I say isn’t true, you should treat this slave as if she didn’t say it. When a person lives in this world, he will constantly change. Now Madam is taken care of by Grand Princess Yi De, so she naturally changes a little. It would be better than being forced to change become unrecognizable in the future. Like Madam Zhang....”

Mu Yunyao was stunned as she pondered over Jin Lan’s words. She softly chuckled after a moment of silence, “What you said is reasonable, and it seems that I was the one who got the upper hand.”

After losing her mother in her previous life, she always wanted to take better care of her mother and wanted to create an iron wall so that her mother could be placed inside. That way, no one would be able to charge in and hurt her. In fact, with this idea, isn’t it hurting her mother?

Her mother was still so young, and she still had a good life ahead of her. Changing her character and living a bit more comfortably would be better than being as restrained and timid as before.

Jin Lan nodded. “Miss, you should rest soon. Her Royal Highness Grand Princess has said she’ll let you live in Qinfang Garden. The scenery in this garden is definitely beautiful. This servant still wants to take a closer look tomorrow.”

“Right.” A big stone in her heart was put down, and Mu Yunyao was much more relaxed. “That’s right, give some instructions to Caiyi, make her prepare for tomorrow. With the clothes I’m wearing today, I’m afraid that Ni Yun Fang will be too busy tomorrow, and they won’t be able to handle them. We’ll release the Ni Yun beauty booklet that was prepared before. After preparing for so long, it is time to go back and make some money.”

“Yes.”

As soon as Ni Yun Fang was opened in the morning, it was completely packed. The stewards and maids in the various mansions did not even care about their decency, and they ushed forward one after another. They talked about the appearance of the clothes that the ladies and young ladies wanted to order.

Even though Cai Yi was mentally prepared, she was still shocked that she couldn’t say anything when she saw this scene, “Please wait a moment, distinguished guests. A beauty booklet has been prepared on the table next to it. There are fifty sets of clothes in it. The distinguished guests can take a copy of the beauty book back to the mansion, then ask the ladies and young ladies to choose the styles, and then tailor their own clothes to prepare them carefully for the distinguished guests.”

Those stewards and maids hurriedly stepped forward to fight for the beauty booklet, secretly thinking that Ni Yun Fang would be a business. These fifty sets of clothes sounded quite a bit. There were many ladies and young ladies, and they could not stand the competition. If they were a little too slow, they would definitely be punished when they were back.

The stewards and maids who grabbed the beauty booklet hurried to their respective mansions. The streets where Ni Yun Fang was located were bustling with noise and excitement. A few carriages had even crashed into each other, which shocked the officials patrolling the streets. Fortunately, everyone was in a hurry to report back to their families. Thus, they did not have any intention of making a ruckus.

In the afternoon, all fifty sets of clothes were ordered, many of which were custom-made and repeated. Mu Yunyao personally made changes to the clothes and sent a post to the residence to explain the reason, along with a book of paintings she drew beforehand, which resolved the conflict efficiently. The ladies and young ladies who were a little slower in their movements secretly held their hands. Knowing that there was no hope of ordering clothes, they thought bitterly that maybe the clothes would not be so amazing when they were made. After all, so many people have ordered, and the patterns are just those. Might the effect of wearing them be the same?

Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 471

~ MOTHERHOOD MAKES YOU STRONGER ~

Seeing that Mu Yunyao’s expression in the slightest didn’t change, Zhang Wan smiled faintly. “It’s not a big deal. It’s just that the Old Madam was making signs with her hand, saying that you were the one who caused her to become like this.”

The corner of Mu Yunyao’s mouth lifted into a smile, “The Old Madam had lost her mind from the stimulation. Although she sober later, her body couldn’t move freely. Many people knew that, and it had nothing to do with me.”

Zhang Wan smiled, “Princess, you don’t have to be on guard against me. If I really plotted against the Princess, I wouldn’t have revealed the truth. The Princess asked the Second Madam to take the initiative to show kindness, so I thought that we had the same goal, didn’t I?”

“The same goal? What is Lady Zhang’s goal?”

Zhang Wan retracted her smile, the light in her eyes gleaming, “Make sure that the entire Su family will not be at peace.”

Mu Yunyao’s eyelashes trembled as she faintly smiled. “If Lady Zhang has anything to say to me, just say it.”

“I want to fight against the Sixth Princess, but my family support is far from sufficient. Thus, I hope to obtain the support of the Princess.”

Mu Yunyao shook her head, “Grandmother had instructed me that I am not allowed to interfere in the Su Family’s matters. I really can’t do anything about it regarding Lady Zhang’s request.”

Zhang Wan smiled indifferently, “Her Highness the Grand Princess’s status is very high. I wish to request to see her, but have no way to do so. The Princess will no longer interfere in the Su family’s matters, so please say a few words in front of the Eldest Princess for me. If there is a chance that you can use me, please ask your Royal Highness for for too much consideration.”

“Is it worth it to become a pawn for revenge?”

“It’s worth it.” Zhang Wan’s tone was determined, “There’s another thing. The Su family is sending people down to Xiayan village to investigate the incident that involved the Spring Embroidery (Xiu Chun Fang)’s birthday gift. If it involves the Princess, please take precautions.”

“Thank you for your reminder, Lady Zhang.” Mu Yunyao’s expression was calm. When she embroidered that beautiful picture of mountains and rivers back then, she had thought that the Su family would investigate it. At that time, she was not afraid, and now, she was even less afraid. If they are willing to inspect, just let them check.

Jin Lan walked over quickly. “Miss, the Grand Princess has sent a message for you to go to the main hall of the front courtyard. She has also and have a separate banquet for the royal family. She says that the family will have a good meal together.”

A smile appeared in Mu Yunyao’s eyes, “Got it.”

Zhang Wan bowed and said her goodbyes, “I won’t disturb the Princess any longer.”

When Mu Yunyao arrived at the main hall of the front courtyard, Grand Princess Yi De was talking to the Emperor, “Yao’er is here. Hurry and sit by Grandmother’s side.”

Mu Yunyao saluted in a proper manner, and her movements were correct. After being called out, she responded to Grand Princess Yi De’s words, “Grandmother, my seniority is low. How can I sit next to you?”

The Emperor waved his hand. “This girl rules is well-set. I’ll make an exception today, so you don’t have to be so formal about all the manners. You can simply sit next to your grandmother.”

“Then Yunyao will do as you say.” Mu Yunyao walked briskly to the side of Grand Princess Yi De and sat down. She raised her head slightly and directly met Yue Wang’s smiling eyes. The light in those eyes was too dazzling, as though layers of starlight were piled on top of each other, causing Yanyao’s heart to tremble.

When Yu Wang saw this scene, his expression could not help but turn a little more solemn. After taking the jug from the side, he poured wine to the Emperor. “Imperial Father, This Son would like toast to you first.”

Her thoughts were interrupted, and Mu Yunyao hurriedly withdrew her gaze.

When the Emperor saw Yu Wang rushing over, he could not help but open his mouth, “Look at your appearance. You’re about to get married, but you have no sense of steadiness.”

“Imperial Father, how much do you think Imperial Aunt loves Niece Yunyao? You should learn to love me a little more too.”

The Emperor couldn’t help but laugh. “Yao’er is a girl and should naturally be doted on every way. How can you, a man, have the face to say such words? You should stand firm, have to shoulder the burden of the world, and share the worries of your father.”

“Aren’t This Son envious? Furthermore, ask the Eldest Imperial Brother and the Third Imperial brothers. Do they not wish for Imperial Father to pamper them more? It’s just that they love to hide everything in their hearts, unlike This Son who can’t hide his words.”

When the Emperor heard this, he could not help but look toward Ling Wang and Jin Wang. The two of them hurriedly stood up to agree with Yu Wang’s words, making the Emperor feel more at ease.

Mu Yunyao sized up Yu Wang and secretly praised him in her heart. Who said that Yu Wang’s personality was straightforward? He was clearly an intelligent person.

A family banquet was held with extreme comfort. By the time the feast was over, the sky had already darkened.

After Grand Princess Yi De saw off the Emperor, she turned her head to look at the exhausted Mu Yunyao. “Yao’er, you must be tired today, so hurry back and rest. Your mother and I still have some things to say to each other.”

“Yes, Grandmother, I’ll go to rest first.”

“Yanhan, you won’t be able to fall asleep even if you go back, so accompany me for a walk.”

“Yes, Mother.” Su Qing, also known as Xu Yanhan, stepped forward to support Princess Yi De by holding her arm and accompanied her along a path dotted with palace lanterns.

“Yanhan, have you thought about what will happen in the future?” Since she had already recognized her daughter, she could no longer call her by her old name. Thinking about how her daughter’s surname was Su, she felt incredibly displeased.

“In the future?” Xu Yanhan’s expression turned slightly confused.

Seeing her expression, Grand Princess Yi De sighed, “You said that Yao’er’s journey wasn’t easy along the way. Even you, as her mother, have never helped her much. Yunyao’s steps were too fast in the past, and even if you wanted to help, you couldn’t. You have the opportunity to start over now, don’t tell me you still want to let Yunyao protect you as a mother all the time?”

Xu Yanhan was shocked and immediately shook her head, “Mother, I also want to protect Yao’er too, but I don’t know what to do.” Every day she would watch Yunyao frowning and thinking hard. Seeing her in a difficult situation, she would not be able to help from the side. She felt as if he was sitting on pins and needles.

“Yanhan, from the perspective of outsiders, Yunyao has become my granddaughter now and has been named the Princess. With my support, she will be safe and worry-free. But let me tell you, her situation will only be more difficult than before, and she definitely won’t be relaxed.”

“Mother, I want to help Yao’er. You can teach me what I should do?” Xu Yanhan was anxious. Yunyao was her life and the pillar of her persistence she had endured until today. She only had one daughter, and she couldn’t wait to give her everything she had. As long as she can help her, she is willing to do anything.

“Motherhood makes you stronger. Since you want to protect Yao’er, you must hold the blade in your hand. Now that you have been conferred the title of a first-rank lady, Your identity is no worse than anyone else’s. The only thing lacking is your wrist and strategy.” Grand Princess Yi De looked at Xu Yanhan with a forbearance face “Mother... Mother know that you grew up in the hands of Su Li and Wang Yan and never learned these things, but it’s not too late to learn now. Mother can protect you for a while, but not for the rest of your lives. Yao’er will still rely on you in the future.”

“Motherhood makes you stronger.” Xu Yanhan thought about these words, and determination flashed across his eyes. “Mother, I understand, but what do I need to do?”

“Before, I told Yao’er that she’s not allowed to interfere in the Su family’s matters. Starting today, I will leave the Su family to you to handle. If you want to summon manpower and want to investigate information, tell Mother Qu all about it. I will ask her to send someone to cooperate with you.”

Incurable Chapter 42 Part 3

Chapter 42 (3/3)

“Then come keep me company for mahjong,” Old Madam Mei said, beaming. “You can play a few rounds, then stay for dinner. We’re family. If Qianxiu is away, naturally it’s our job to look after you.”

“All right. Thank you, Grandma,” Mu Wan said generously.

Old Madam Mei’s smile deepened, and she turned to Mother Mei. “She called me Grandma.”

The whole family burst into laughter again.

Mu Wan had never known this kind of family warmth before.

At the table, people chatted about work, about wine, about whatever came to mind. No topic ever dropped dead in the air. Someone always picked it up, and soon everyone would be laughing together.

She felt like a bird that had been homeless for years.

Liu Qianxiu had brought her back to a nest, let her have a family, and surrounded her with kinship.

Both of them had been drinking that evening, so they simply stayed the night at the Mei residence. And once they had decided to stay, there was no reason to worry about the hour. Old Madam Mei immediately set up the mahjong table.

Mu Wan knew how to play, and she played reasonably well. What she had not expected was that Liu Qianxiu was even better. He did not sit down at the table himself; he simply sat beside her and guided her moves. By the end, they had actually won a little.

A small wager made things lively. When it was finally time to rest, everyone dispersed cheerfully.

The entire afternoon and evening had left Mu Wan glowing.

She felt like a child who had spent the whole day at an amusement park—happy to the point of exhaustion, yet too exhilarated to calm down.

After they washed up together, Liu Qianxiu settled beneath him. The two of them moved carefully, cautiously, only once. When it was over, the excitement in Mu Wan had finally burned itself out, leaving only fatigue. Curled in his arms, listening to his heartbeat, she drifted toward sleep.

“Liu Qianxiu,” she murmured, “I was really happy today.”

“Ever since I got together with you, I’ve been happy every day. But this happiness still feels like a dream. Every time I think about you going to Austria, I get that hollow, sinking feeling, like I’m about to wake up.”

Her voice had gone a little hoarse with sleepiness. When she finished, she burrowed against Liu Qianxiu twice more, like a small brown bear.

“Liu Qianxiu, you’ll come back on time, won’t you?”

The little brown bear opened her eyes and looked at him.

What shone there was naked love and hope, but mixed in with them were fear and anxiety. That was the true shape of her heart.

Because someone who had never possessed anything, once she finally had something precious, would naturally fear losing it all the more.

Liu Qianxiu looked at her, his hand moving up to cup her warm cheek. It felt as though a torch had been lit deep inside him.

“Mhm,” he said softly.

With that answer, Mu Wan nuzzled against him twice more and drifted off at last.

Once her breathing had deepened into the long, steady rhythm of sleep, Liu Qianxiu rose from the bed, pulled on a shirt, and stepped out.

In the corridor, Mei Yaozhi was passing by with a bottle of red wine in hand, on his way back to his own room. The moment he spotted Liu Qianxiu, his eyes lit up. Then, after taking in his expression, Mei Yaozhi’s face went still too.

“Want a drink?” Mei Yaozhi asked, giving the bottle a small shake.

Liu Qianxiu nodded.

The two of them went to the wine room. After pouring Liu Qianxiu a glass, Mei Yaozhi poured one for himself and asked as he did so, “Is it that troublesome this time? Want me to come with you?”

“Help me take care of Mu Wan,” Liu Qianxiu said, lifting his eyes to him. “While I’m gone, help me look after her.”

The bottle paused in Mei Yaozhi’s hand. His brows drew together briefly. Then he nodded.

“All right.”

Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 470

~ THERE IS NO MEDICINE FOR REGRET IN THE WORLD ~

Su Qingwu couldn’t help frowning as he listened to the confrontation between the two beside him. “Enough. Be quiet.”

When The Six Princesses saw his unsightly expression, she felt slightly worried in her heart, “Qingwu, are you alright?”

Zhang Wan smirked, and her eyes were filled with a cold smile, “If life was just as it was at first sight, what’s the matter with Qiu Feng’s sad painting fan? In the beginning, he had thought that other people’s identities were mediocre, so he had to bear with it and give up. Did he not know that what he was doing was buying clams and returning the pearl? Now that he wanted to reclaim the pearl again, he realized someone else had already stepped into the ninth heaven … This is really a fool of nature.”
Zhang Wan looked at Su Qingwu, and her heart was filled with hatred. From the moment she married into the Su family, Su Qingwu had only come to her courtyard once, and that time was only to see the camellia flower and crane plume that Mu Yunyao had sent over. From his expression, Zhang Wan could feel that something was wrong. Thus, she secretly used some methods to get drunk on him and asked many questions, including the part about how he endured the pain of giving up Mu Yunyao in Jingling City all those years ago…

Su Qingwu suddenly thought of the Osmanthus branches that he had thrown away in Jingling City and the feelings he had been kept in his heart for the sake of his family. Did he regret it now?

He felt a dull pain in his chest as if knives were grinding at it slowly, a pain that would last for a long time, and there was no end. He regretted it, and indeed, he regretted it. But the past can’t be traced back, and he didn’t have a chance to start over.

“If you are not feeling well, quickly return to your residence to rest.”

Zhang Wan chuckled, “It’s rare for me to be able to come out. Husband, please allow me to stay for a bit longer.I am still thinking of personally meeting Princess Wenxian later and congratulating her on finding her real family.”

The Six Princesses felt indignant in their hearts, “Qingwu, don’t let her embarrass herself here. Hurry up and drive her back as soon as possible.”

Zhang Wan looked at Su Qingwu, her eyes filled with determination. “Husband, you can’t be so unreasonable, right?”

“Be quiet, don’t disturb the banquet.” The Su family was on the verge of collapse. They could not afford to be the powerful enemy of the Great Scholar’s residence under the tree.

Zhang Wan smiled complacently.

The Sixth Princess gritted her teeth and glared fiercely at Zhang Wan.

The banquet proceeded exceptionally smoothly. After all, the Emperor and Grand Princess Yi De were both presents. If anyone dared to find unhappiness at this juncture, it would be enough for the old birthday star to hang himself.

At the beginning of the banquet, the officials were arranged to be at Ting Tao Garden, the ladies were appointed to be in the Zhouying Shui Pavillion, and the young ladies were assigned to be in a Yibi Wanqin Pavilion.

The area was spacious and built entirely on top of the hot spring lake. Various countertops have been on the lake’s surface, and at the center was the Appreciation Pavilion. Potted lotus flowers were planted all around, and it was unknown how they managed to grow near the hot spring water, but the flowers were still blooming beautifully.

As for the ladies, they were naturally entertained by Mu Yunyao. However, when it came to hospitality, no one dared to ask her to arrange anything. Instead, they crowded around her and whispered softly to each other, trying to curry favor with her. There was no lack of flattery in their words.

Mu Yunyao had a sharp personality, clever and straightforward. Even if many people were around talking, she didn’t seem to be troubled when dealing with them. On the contrary, she made everyone feel like they were being taken care of. After a conversation, I don’t know how many young ladies from aristocratic families secretly admire her.

Qu Mama, who was watching from the side, smiled even more. The Grand Princess was worried for nothing, and there was no chance for her to help here.

Su You looked enviously at Mu Yunyao. She had a weak aura around her as she sat in the crowd. Her eyes contained a faint estrangement as if she was incompatible with them, which seemed a little out of place.

She went alone to Su You’s side after Mu Yunyao finished speaking with everyone and toasted, “Why aren’t you eating anything, are the dishes don’t suit your appetite?”

Su You didn’t know how to answer. At first, when she approached Mu Yunyao, she treated her as a younger sister. But later on, when she came into contact with her a lot and discovered that she was more like an Elder Sister, taking care of her everywhere. But now, she had become the granddaughter of Grand Princess Yi De and was even personally bestowed as Princess Wenxian by the Emperor. The difference in status was like the difference between heaven and earth. Should she bow before replying, or should she answer directly?

“It’s not as delicious as the one you made.” The moment the words left her mouth, Su You almost bit off her tongue, she did not want to say this and did not have the intention to humiliate Mu Yunyao, but the moment she said it, it completely changed.

Mu Yunyao didn’t care, “I’m afraid it won’t be possible today. If you want to eat the dishes I made, then when I’m cooking in person another day, I’ll have Jin Lan go to the Su family’s residence to invite you.”

The anxiety in Su You’s eyes disappeared, and her dull eyes lit up with brilliance again. “Really?”

“Of course, it’s true. When have I ever lied to you?”

“You even said before that you didn’t have any clothes on, saying that you wanted to beat the Snow Fox that caught your clothes … coaxing me to get someone to make clothes for you, and even saying that you’ve never coaxed before.” The anxiousness in Su You’s heart disappeared, and her heart was filled with joy. Her manner of speaking changed gradually back to the past.

Mu Yunyao lifted her finger and tapped it on her chin, “It seems that your words really make sense when you say this. How about I make a few dresses to compensate you? The clothes that I made myself are so hard to find right now, and even if I wanted to buy them, I wouldn’t be able to.”

“Personally?” Su You couldn’t help but stare with wide eyes, like a frightened snow fox.

“Yeah, don’t tell me you don’t believe in my embroidery skills?” Mu Yunyao looked at her with a smile.

“No.... no, it hurts your eyes to embroider clothes. Just ask the embroidery lady in Ni Yun Fang to help. In the future, you will definitely get busier and busier. You don’t need to put in too much effort just for a few pieces of clothes. As long as you give me a gift, even if you buy it from the street’s side, I still think its a priceless treasure.”

Su You took Mu Yunyao by the hand, her eyes were full of trust, and she couldn’t tell why. As long as she saw Mu Yunyao, she felt relieved. This feeling hasn’t even existed, even when facing her mother.

Mu Yunyao smiled even more intensely: “Alright, I understand. I’ll get the embroidery lady from Ni Yun Fang to help out.”

“Yes.” Su You nodded her head heavily, and seeing Mu Yunyao’s smile, she smiled brilliantly.

Zhang Wan walked over. She saw Mu Yunyao and Su You holding hands and smiling from a distance. A trace of sadness flashed through her eyes before they quickly returned to normal, “Greetings, Princess Wenxian.”

“Lady Zhang, no need to be so polite.”

“I wonder if I can have a word with you?”

Mu Yunyao nodded and indicated Jin Qiao to take care of Su You. She stood up and brought Zhang Wan to the side of the bridge.

There is a breeze blowing, gentle and warm.

Zhang Wan looked around at the unimaginably beautiful scenery and couldn’t help but sigh. “A few days ago, I was still addressing the Princess as a little sister. When we meet again in just a few short days, I’ll have to pay my respects to the Princess.”

“Madam, you should be happy that you’ve gotten what you wanted.” Mu Yunyao spoke indifferently.

“Yes, I should be happy. Today, I came to speak to Princess Wenxian because I have something to tell you. I’ve been to Ninghe Garden for the past few days, and I’ve heard some things from the Old Madame that involve Princess Wenxiang....”

Ninghe Garden, the Old Madam of the Su family?

“I wonder what it is about?”

Incurable Chapter 42 Part 2

Chapter 42 (2/3)

Mu Wan smiled and did not bother pretending innocence. “Still, this is your show now. You’re the lead.”

Having put on the outer layer, Mi Yu did not leave. She sat down, pulled out a cigarette, and lit it. The woman’s cigarette was long and slim between her red-polished fingers, making the whole picture strangely elegant.

“So why don’t you become a lead too?” Mi Yu asked, blowing out a ribbon of smoke.

“I don’t like a life where I’m constantly being watched,” Mu Wan said, sitting down beside her. “I want a stable life. As long as I can keep acting and make enough money to live comfortably, that’s enough for me.”

“You’d live comfortably even without earning anything,” Mi Yu said with a short laugh, her narrow eyes lifting with what looked like meanness. But there was no real malice in it. Her face was simply made that way.

“Well, that’s true,” Mu Wan admitted shamelessly.

She did not feel embarrassed accepting everything Liu Qianxiu gave her. Before, she had acted to earn fast money. Now she acted because she genuinely enjoyed it. Working while trying different roles and finding new ways to grow—that made life richer.

“It really is funny,” Mi Yu murmured, taking another drag. “There are so many people in the world, and everyone wants something different. You’ve got the resources, but you want to play supporting roles. I, meanwhile, have clawed and struggled for half my life, and no matter how much I want to be the lead, I’m always fated to end up second.”

“You are the lead now,” Mu Wan said with a smile.

“Thank you,” Mi Yu said suddenly, looking at her.

The sincerity in her tone made Mu Wan pause. Then she understood. She shook her head. “You don’t need to thank me, Yu-jie. Back then, you were always the one who brought me along whenever you had a role. If anyone should be grateful, it’s me.”

Mi Yu let out a low, lazy snort of amusement. “At least I didn’t waste my effort raising you. You’re not ungrateful.”

“Of course not,” Mu Wan said, laughing too. She checked the time. “I should go. I’ve made plans.”

Mi Yu did not try to stop her. She merely waved her off, cigarette smoke curling around her. After saying goodbye, Mu Wan stepped out of the wardrobe.

Outside the studio lot, Liu Qianxiu was already waiting for her in the car.

She ran over, a little damp with mist, and climbed into the passenger seat.

She had been shooting all day, but there was no sign of exhaustion on her face. Buckling her seat belt, she said, “Let’s go home first. I need to change.”

Liu Qianxiu agreed and started the car.

As they drove, Mu Wan turned to look at him. “How did you have time to come pick me up today?”

Usually, with his schedule, it was not easy.

Liu Qianxiu kept his eyes on the road. “I wanted to spend a little more time with you.”

Mu Wan laughed softly. The heat she had picked up while running over seemed to settle a little.

Turning to look out the window, she said, “You’re worried I’m nervous.”

She had indeed looked pretty nervous that morning.

At a red light, Liu Qianxiu turned to glance at her. “Are you nervous now?”

Mu Wan shook her head honestly. “No. They’re all people who are very good to you, so they should be easy to get along with.”

It was something she had figured out on her own over the course of the day.

Socially speaking, an eighteenth-tier actress like her really was not a match for the head of the Liu family. But in the Liu family, the power of decision rested entirely with Liu Qianxiu. If he said he liked her and wanted to be with her, then no one else really had the standing to object.

And as for the Mei family, while Liu Qianxiu called Old Madam Mei his grandmother, he was not truly a Mei in the sense of being ruled by them. Whatever he chose to do was still his own choice.

Once she thought it through that way, there was really nothing left to be nervous about.

As long as she behaved well at the Mei house, had manners, and spoke sensibly, everything else would be handled by Liu Qianxiu.

The more she thought about it, the more she admired her man.

After going home to change and put on fresh makeup, Liu Qianxiu drove her to the Mei residence.

The Mei family had been in the department store business for the last century. Now they run luxury shopping centers. Mei malls could be found in Xiacheng and across the country—high-end, grand, and unmistakably theirs.

The Mei residence was in North Xiacheng, built on Mei Mountain. The entire mountainside belonged to the family. Besides the main residence, the estate included other structures, such as an amusement park and a ski resort.

Compared to the Liu family, the Meis valued closeness and affection among relatives far more. Their home carried a genuinely warm family atmosphere.

The exterior of the Mei residence was Gothic, surrounded by gardens, while the interior complex followed a Republican-era style—dignified and elegant. Many of the furnishings were antiques, so everything looked far finer and more authentic than the sets in the Republican dramas Mu Wan had filmed.

The Mei family itself was not very large. There was Old Madam Mei, Liu Qianxiu’s grandmother. Then his uncle and aunt, Mei Zhizhi’s family, and Mei Yaozhi. The Mei family business was primarily run now by Mei Yaozhi’s father, with Mei Zhizhi helping, while Mei Yaozhi himself floated around like an idle immortal.

When they arrived, Mei Yaozhi was already waiting at the entrance with his elder brother and sister-in-law.

“They’re here,” Mei Yaozhi said to Mei Zhizhi.

Mei Zhizhi was thirty-six, several years older than Liu Qianxiu. Liu Qianxiu got out of the car with Mu Wan, greeted his brother and sister-in-law, and let Mei Yaozhi lead them inside.

The interior of the Mei house was all polished old-world elegance. The furnishings were full of antiques. Compared to the sets Mu Wan had seen while filming, this place had the refinement those sets could only imitate.

There was nothing stiff or performative about the family atmosphere, nothing like the oppressive formality shown in television dramas.

Old Madam Mei was warm and kind, taking Mu Wan’s hand and talking to her. Mu Wan felt a little like a new bride—somewhat shy, somewhat awkward, but more than anything, happy.

After dinner, Mei Yaozhi brought out a bottle of red wine.

“A friend brought this back from a vineyard in France. Try it.”

At his words, the household staff poured wine. Everyone raised their glasses, clinked them together, and fell into easy conversation while they drank.

“I heard from Yaozhi that you’re going to Austria next week,” Mei Zhizhi said.

“Yes,” Liu Qianxiu replied after a sip. “There have been several cases involving counterfeit pieces at auctions. I’m going back to deal with it.”

“Take Yaozhi with you,” Father Mei said at once.

“No need,” Liu Qianxiu said lightly, smiling faintly. “I can handle it myself.”

“Your uncle still thinks of you as a child,” Old Madam Mei said with gentle authority. “Always wanting to help from behind. But our Qianxiu is already head of the Liu family. He’s fully capable of handling things.”

Then she turned to Mu Wan and asked, “What about you, Wanwan?”

The old woman’s tone was so affectionate that warmth rose in Mu Wan’s chest. She smiled back. “I’ll stay in the country. I still have work.”

Her profession had already come up at the dinner table earlier, and the Mei family had shown no contempt for it at all. On the contrary, they respected the fact that she had work of her own.

“Well, work comes first,” Old Madam Mei said kindly. Then she added, “Since Qianxiu is going to Austria, won’t it be lonely eating alone at home? Why not stay here at the Mei house? With the household staff taking care of things, it’ll make life easier while you work.”

Mu Wan froze for a second. Then she glanced at Liu Qianxiu and laughed a little awkwardly.

Liu Qianxiu looked at Old Madam Mei and gently declined. “Forget it, Grandma. There are cats at home to look after.”

“Then at least come over for meals when you have time. I get bored by myself too.” Old Madam Mei sounded a little regretful. Then she asked, “Do you know how to play mahjong?”

Mu Wan smiled and nodded. “A little.”

Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 469

~ YOU REALLY DON’T HAVE THE GUTS ~

Under the looks of anticipation of the ladies and young ladies, it was finally the time to add three hairpin gifts.

Grand Princess Yi De once again washed her hands before slowly stepping forward to help Mu Yunyao take off the hairpin and pearl hairpin she was wearing. Xu Qi came forward with a tray, and under the expectant gazes of the crowd, she brought the hairpin crown to the side of the Grand Princess Yi De’s hand.

When Mu Yunyao had changed into dark clothes, she had put on a soft layer of makeup. At this time, her face was like a lotus, her mouth seemed to be filled with vermilion, and her eyes looked forward to flowing, with an outstanding appearance.

The crown was taken out from the tray and placed gently on Mu Yunyao’s ink-black hair. The hairpin crown made of pure gold glittered with light, two golden phoenixes coiled around it, and the long tail feathers bent around her bun. The gemstones and emeralds were embedded in the dazzling light. In the mouth of the phoenix was a thin chain of tiny tourmaline jade beads, and the chain hung in the center of Yunyao’s forehead. There was embedded a drop-like gem as red as blood, just fell on the center of her eyebrows, causing her eyes to become even more dark and dazzling.

Yue Wang stared unblinkingly at the scene, his eyes carrying a dense amount of awe. At this moment, Mu Yunyao was extremely elegant and was full of charm, making the rest of the people present look like supporters.

The Grand Princess Yi De smiled and said in a loud voice, “According to the year and the month’s order, this ceremony is held. The presence of a brother makes it virtuous. The Yellow River is boundless and blessed by heaven.”

Mu Yunyao clasped her hands together and kowtowed, the red gem between her eyebrows slightly swaying. “Many thanks, Grandmother.”

A few sets of clothes and hairpin crowns were so captivating that many of the young ladies and ladies. They plan to wait until the coming of age ceremony is over and decide to go to Ni Yun Fang to order a few dresses first. They only wanted to be similar to Mu Yunyao’s clothes.

When Mu Yunyao changed into her last wide embroidered immortal dress, she did not wear a red skirt like an ordinary legatee, but she chose a full embroidered long skirt with a white base, which was covered with a layer of gauze as thin as a cicada’s wing. The immortal dress has a charming skirt and is matched with gauze. The skirt is elegant but solemn.

A vigorous red plum branch meandered up on her skirt, and it suddenly bloomed at her waist. The clusters of flowers are piled up like bright red brocade. The powerful branches and delicate flowers … One was firm and soft while the other was full of fragrance. Coupled with the hairpin crown she wore, it only makes people feel that the words are pale and absolutely couldn’t find the right words to praise.

Mu Yunyao stepped forward to salute everyone, then knelt in front of Grand Princess Yi De and Su Qing.

Su Qing looked at Mu Yunyao with eyes full of pride. “Yao’er, Mother is untalented and does not understand many things. I just hope that you will uphold your original heart and look up to it in the future.”

Mu Yunyao respectfully kowtowed, “Although I’m not sensitive, I dare not admit defeat!”

Grand Princess Yi De personally helped Mu Yunyao up. “I should give you some words today, but Grandmother still doesn’t feel good no matter how she thinks about it. Moreover, you just returned to Grandmother’s side, and I still want to keep you for a few more years. Thus, I won’t be in a hurry to take the word, okay?”

“I am at Grandmother’s disposal.”

After the ceremony ended, the guests returned to their senses and praised Mu Yunyao, who was peerless in the world. Hearing those words of praise, even though Mu Yunyao’s mind was calm, she couldn’t help but blush unbearably.

Grand Princess Yi De happily listened to the praises of the crowd for a long time before she took Su Qing’s hand and said, “When the guests came today, they should already know. The one in front of me is my long-lost daughter. From today onwards, Su Qing will change her name to Xu Yanhan. After the ancestor worship ceremony, she and Yunyao’s names will be officially recorded in the family tree.”

Su Qing stood up and walked in front of Grand Princess Yi De. She respectfully bowed to her and said, “Unfilial Daughter, Yanhan greets Mother!”

Grand Princess Yi De choked in her throat. She had waited so many years for someone to call her Mother, but today, she finally heard, “Alright. Hurry and get up.”

“Congratulations, Grand Princess Yi De....”

Qu Mama walked up quickly, unable to hide the joy on her face. “Your Royal Highness Grand Princess, the Emperor’s imperial edict has arrived.”

Grand Princess Yi De had a smile on her face. “Fine. We’ll go welcome him now.”

Everyone followed Grand Princess Yi De to the front courtyard. When they saw the Emperor in the lead, they immediately kneeled down and paid their respects.

“Greetings, Your Majesty. Long live the Emperor. Long live the Emperor. Long live the Emperor.”

The fact that the Emperor had personally come could be a unique honor.

Just as Grand Princess Yi De was about to step forward and pay her respects, the Emperor hurriedly took two steps forward to help her up. “Imperial Elder Sister, hurry up and be free of the ceremony.”

“Your majesty has worked hard, and you’ve even personally come today. I really can’t thank you enough.”

“Imperial Elder Sister, where did you say this? If it weren’t for you notifying me of the news, you wouldn’t have let Yanhan get lost. After bearing so many years of the pain of missing your daughter, making me always felt guilty and uneasy. Today, the niece is returned, and I’m equally happy.”

Su Qing and Mu Yunyao stepped forward to salute.

“Well, you two get up quickly. “Xu Li, read out the imperial edict.”

Everyone hurriedly knelt down and listened to the imperial edict. Grand Princess Yi De wanted to kneel down, but she was stopped by the Emperor.

“According to the heavens, Xu Yanhan, the Grand Princess’s daughter … I bestowed the title of first-class Lady Huiyi, and her daughter Mu Yunyao, who gifted with talent, I grant the title of Princess Wenxian ....”

The next series of rewards lasted for nearly half an hour before the sounds of congratulation became louder and louder.

She helped Su Qing up after Mu Yunyao thanked him, “Thank you, Your Majesty.”

The Emperor sized up Mu Yunyao, his eyes filled with closeness and affection. “You should call me Granduncle. Could it be that you have to wait for me to give you red envelopes before you called?”

Mu Yunyao craftily blinked, a smile blossoming on her lips. “Grandmother said that Granduncle is a wealthy man, and let me properly honor you. You casually bestowed a small red envelope to me, which is enough for me to live without worries about food and clothing for the rest of my life.”

Seeing that her attitude was natural, even if her identity had changed, her pure heart remained unchanged as usual, so the Emperor couldn’t help but sigh with emotion. “No wonder Imperial Elder Sister likes you so much. It’s hard for people to dislike this temperament. Xu Li, bring me a gift that I’ve prepared separately.”

Mu Yunyao’s eyes were bright, and her expression was filled with surprise, even blushing a little. “I was just casually saying it. Did Granduncle really prepare a red envelope?”

“Then do you accept it or not? ”

“Of course, I have to accept it. Before, I didn’t know that the Emperor was my Ganduncle, but I gave him so many gifts that evenNi Yun Fang and Bu Xian Luo were emptied out. Now that I have a chance to make up for it, how can I miss it?”

Grand Princess Yi De smiled as he looked at Mu Yunyao. “This girl is simply a small fortune fan. The Emperor must keep a good watch over his personal treasury and not let her deceive him.”

“Haha, that depends on Yunyao’s ability.”

Although this scene was quite joyous, everyone had different thoughts in their hearts.

Zhang Wan looked at Mu Yunyao, then turned her head towards Su Qingwu and said, “I’ve often heard people saying that in thirty years in the east and thirty years in the west. But in the blink of an eye, who would have thought that the orphans and widows, who lived under people in the past, would become royalty. When I first met Yunyao, she was ridiculed for being born in the countryside. It’s hard to predict what will happen in the world. Husband, do you think this is the truth?”

The Six Princesses turned and glared at Zhang Wan, “If you don’t speak, no one will treat you as a mute!”

“Elder Sister Huaiyang, you should address Princess Wenxian as little sister from now. I see that the gifts that Elder Sister has prepared are relatively thin. Do you need to add a little more separately?”

The Six Princesses gnashed her teeth. “Did you really thought that I wouldn’t dare to punish you with so many people present?”

The corner of Zhang Wan’s lips curled up coldly, her eyes were full of unscrupulousness: “You really don’t have the guts to do that!”

Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 468

~ THE MOMENT THE FLOWERS BLOOM, THEY MOVE THE CAPITAL ~

Mu Yunyao’s coming of age ceremony was not a simple condolence ceremony this time because it was also related to Grand Princess Yi De wanting to acknowledge Su Qing as her family. Therefore, not only the women who were invited but also officials who were at least third rank in the Imperial Court were invited.

After the officials arrived, they suddenly found that Su Wenyuan was also among the invitees, and they couldn’t help but speculate secretly.

Previously, Su Qing’s adoptive parents suddenly came to Jin Wang’s house, and in front of many guests who attended the lantern festival banquet, they told the truth about how they adopted Su Qing and Su Xue. Many people heard that the daughter of the Su family died while trying to save the Grand Princess’s daughter. But after hearing about it, only a few people really believed it.

All those who could be officials in the Imperial Court for many years were all intelligent people. Those in the upper echelons can comprehend dozens of meanings when they sneeze, not to mention this past seemingly far-fetched.

However, Grand Princess Yi De had no intention of taking action against the Su family. Other officials could only watch from the sidelines. Most importantly, the Emperor seemed to intend to reinstate the Su family. During this time, he handed over some tasks to Su Qingwu and asked Su Wenyuan to supervise the transformation of the plough that Jin Wang had proposed. If this matter were completed successfully, it would be a remarkable achievement, and the Su family would be able to make a comeback in no time.

As everyone was secretly thinking about this, a commotion came from the entrance.

“Lord Su, the Sixth Princess, and Lady Zhang …”

Many officials revealed envious expressions. Su Qingwu had not married his loved one, but once he got married, he could enjoy the blessings of the people, which was really enviable. However, it would also be troublesome to have too many women, especially if both of them were stubborn in their identities. It’s just that if there are too many women, it’s also troublesome, especially if both women are so tough, which is even more troublesome. During this time, many officials in Capital listened to the Su family’s jokes.

As Su Qingwu gazed at the dreamy Qinfang Garden, deep emotions flashed in his eyes, making it hard to fathom what was happening.

The Sixth Princess had resentment in her eyes. She had already heard from Su Yuyi that the person Su Qingwu was carrying in her heart was Mu Yunyao. At that time, Su Qingwu was even publicly disobeying the Eldest Madam’s orders just for Mu Yunyao’s sake.

She could tolerate Zhang Wan because she knew that Su Qingwu didn’t care about Zhang Wan. Otherwise, she would have taken the opportunity to destroy Zhang Wan on the hunting grounds that day. He wouldn’t tell the truth until now, but she couldn’t tolerate Mu Yunyao.

As a woman, she felt that her internal organs were all uncomfortable when she thought that Su Qingwu, who she was in love with, liked another woman in his heart.

Sensing the bursts of evil aura coming from the Sixth Princess’s body, Zhang Wan curved her lips indistinctly, hoping that the Sixth Princess was not too foolish, as she had not yet avenged her initial persecution. If it were because she was too stupid, she would have been directly smacked to death by the Grand Princess Yi De, which would have been much less fun.

“Greetings, I have seen Your Royal Highness Ling Wang, Yu Wang, Jin Wang, Yue Wang.....” the salute sounded. Several princes arrived in turn, followed by attendants holding various gifts.

Not long after, Grand Princess Yi De arrived, and everyone immediately knelt down in salute.

Grand Princess Yi De’s face was filled with a smile, and her face was filled with an unprecedented gentleness. “Everyone, please rise. Today is my granddaughter Yunyao’s coming of age ceremony banquet. As the host, I thank everyone for coming.”

“The Grand Princess do not need to …” Everyone politely declined.

The Grand Princess Yi De smiled but didn’t say anything. A maid came to invite all the guests to take their seats and watch Mu Yunyao’s coming of age ceremony.

According to proper etiquette, it was against the rules to have Grand Princess Yi De be the host of Mu Yunyao’s coming of age ceremony and should have invited dignitaries with valuable morality to be the hosts. However, with the Grand Princess here, Mu Yunyao’s identity was extraordinary, so no one dared to raise their head and instead praised the Grand Princess for her kindness and benevolence, which was admirable.

Mu Yunyao was dressed in plain clothes and a pair of shoes. Part of her black hair was tied into a bun on top of her head, while the rest of it was spread out behind her. Seeing her walk over slowly, everyone inexplicably thought of something: plain clothes, black hair, untainted by lead dust...

Yue Wang’s expression was focused as he looked at Mu Yunyao, his eyes filled with anticipation and pride. The flustered little girl he once met in Xiayan had finally been reborn and had completely transformed into a breathtaking appearance.

Mu Yunyao stepped forward, the hem of her skirt spreading out on the red carpet. Her movements weren’t the least bit lacking as she knelt and paid her respects to Grand Princess Yi De. “Granddaughter Mu Yunyao greets Grandmother.”

Grand Princess Yi De walked up and bent over to help Mu Yunyao up. “Good child, quickly get up.”

After saluting the elders, Mu Yunyao turned around again and greeted the guests who came to participate in the ceremony. The guests all opened their mouths to praise her and express their blessings.

The audience, please be silent. The heavens and earth created all things, and they flourished. With the glory of home and country, the ancestors are glorious... The coming of age ceremony shall begin, and we shall play!”

With the sound of music, Xu Qi brought the maid up to the table to light the candles and burn the incense.

The music was slightly solemn, and Mu Yunyao, who initially didn’t pay much attention to the ceremony, couldn’t help but adjust her attitude along with the music, her expression becoming more and more serious.

Su Qing was arranged to sit on the seat of an elder. Seeing Mu Yunyao respectfully bow to her, she couldn’t help but feel a slight redness in her eyes. Her child had grown up …

After Grand Princess Yi De washed her hands and wiped them dry, she walked forward to help Mu Yunyao comb her hair bun. Then, she took the hairpin from the tray Xu Qi was carrying and helped Mu Yunyao straighten it out by inserting it into her hair. Abandon your childhood ambitions, and you will become virtuous. Long life and auspiciousness will give you prosperity and auspiciousness.”

Mu Yunyao bent down to kowtow, and the smile on her face was like the morning dew. “Thank you, Grandmother.”

Seeing her appearance, Grand Princess Yi De couldn’t help but stroke her hair. “Quickly go and change your clothes.”

The etiquette of the coming of age ceremony was extraordinarily complicated. Just the change in clothes required them to change four sets, but everyone present was engrossed in watching and did not reveal any expression of impatience. First, there was the presence of the Grand Princess Yi De, and secondly, Mu Yunyao’s clothes were really too eye-catching.

In addition to the slightly ordinary clothes and shoes worn in her first appearance, she wore a very tight waist apricot-colored dress. The apricot-colored dress made her seem slender and slender, with a pattern of pink and gold lilies embroidered on the apricot-colored satin. The branches and leaves were woven with silk thread and kapok thread. The lines of branches and leaves are clearly visible, which was truly breathtaking.

An hour later, Grand Princess Yi De put a winged jade stepping hairpin made of precious stones on Mu Yunyao’s hair. The hairpin was magnificent and gorgeous. The phoenix decorated with stepping steps flutters its wings to fly, making the ladies who saw it feel an itch in their hearts.

She put on matching dark clothes, a luxurious eight-piece skirt embroidered with lifelike brocade peonies, and a large area of fiery red clouds lingered on her sleeves. It was the first time that Mu Yunyao had worn such a glamorous color. She thought she would be overwhelmed by such complicated and luxurious clothes with her aura. But unexpectedly, her figure was elegant and graceful. Her eyes were smiling. Her elegance was magnificent, and her noble demeanor was unparalleled. No matter how luxurious her clothes were, they were all there as a foil for her.

The ladies and young ladies in Capital don’.t like peony-patterned dresses very much. After all, the peony flower was about to be used up, so it would inevitably appear as though it was common practice to attend a banquet. However, after seeing Mu Yunyao in such a dress today, the crowd could not help but sigh in their hearts and feel emotional. No wonder the world praised: Only peonies are the true national colors. The moment the flowers bloomed, it would move the Capital. When Mu Yunyao wore this set of clothes, it would give off a sweet fragrance; it was undoubtedly too beautiful.

Yue Wang looked at the graceful Mu Yunyao, his heart thumping non-stop. Before he had come here, he had imagined countless times how eye-catching Yunyao would be in his mind, but now that Yue Wang had seen her appearance, he realized just how lacking his imagination was.

Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 467

~ COMING OF AGE CEREMONY ~

Zhang Wan looked at the camellia pots on the ground and couldn’t help but smile, “Second Aunt, please help me thank Miss Mu. It’s not convenient today, so I’ll come to Second Aunt’s courtyard to thank you alone another day. Little Sister Su You, how is her health?”

Noticing Zhang Wan’s gentle attitude, Second Madam could not help but smile even more, “It’s all good. We will be family from now on, so there is no need to be too polite. If you lack anything here, you must get someone to tell me in time. Although I can help you, I will definitely reach out when it’s time.”

Zhang Wan was stunned for a moment before she smiled. “Alright, thank you, Second Aunt.”

“I’ll get someone to cook a bowl of noodles and bring it to you. You’ll have a good rest tonight, and you’ll have to pay our respects to the Elders tomorrow morning.”

“Alright.”

Leaving Zhang Wan’s courtyard, the Second Madam smiled, thinking that the residence was getting more lively.

In the following days, the news of the Su family would occasionally spread.

Jin Qiao vividly reported to Mu Yunyao: “At the beginning, the Sixth Princess marrying into the Su family is still considered stable. After that, Su Qingwu made a trip to Madam Zhang’s courtyard, and the Sixth Princess started to stir things up. After that, she even found an excuse to look for Madam Zhang for trouble. I heard that she accidentally bumped Madam Zhang into the pond. On the second day, Madam Zhang directly ordered someone to fill the pond...”

After Mu Yunyao finished washing her face, she took the handkerchief and wiped the water droplets off her fingers. “Falling into the pond in the winter is extremely dangerous. Is Zhang Wan alright?”

“It’s okay. The Second Madam acted in time, and not long after she fell down, she was rescued. She was then taken care of by a doctor, so there weren’t any major problems. But after going through this matter, the Sixth Princess was extremely dissatisfied with the Second Madam, as if she wanted to seize her authority as the person who charges in household’s affair.”

“The authority of the person who is charge in household’s affair is not to be trifled with. Su Wenyuan will not be the first to agree.” If he were to hand the Su family over to the Sixth Princess, who didn’t have any experience, wouldn’t Su Wenyuan have trouble sleeping all night? In addition, Su Jin was still here. If Yang Lian really had something to do with the salt tax, it is almost time for the Su family to take action at this time.

Entering February, the weather gradually became warmer. After being taught by Mu Yunyao several times, Su Qing slowly felt better, and her body recovered a lot.

Jin Lan and Jin Qiao were painting paper kites in the courtyard, but unfortunately, the two of them couldn’t paint properly, so they could only ask Mu Yunyao for help, “Miss, come help the two of us quickly. We can’t lose to Elder Sister Si Qin and the rest.”

Mu Yunyao changed into lighter spring clothes. At this moment, she was in a good mood as she grabbed her sleeves to help Jin Lan paint the patterns on the paper kite.

Seeing this scene, Si Qin was upset again and again: “Miss, how can you help Jin Lan and Jin Qiao? If they win, this servant will have no monthly silver.”

Mu Yunyao looked down at the complacent Jin Lan and Jin Qiao. “When you win the monthly money, don’t forget to split half with me.”

“Yes, Miss. We will share most of it with you.”

Su Qing watched this scene with a smile, and the depression in his heart gradually loosened a lot.

Although the courtyard wasn’t too big, it was enough to let the paper kite fly.

Mu Yunyao raised her head to look at her depiction of the eagle flying into the sky and couldn’t help but raise the corner of her lips. “Mother, the person that Grandmother had sent to verify our identity has returned. In a few days, she will recognize us as her family members at my coming of age ceremony.”

Su Qing nodded. “Yao’er, can you promise me one thing?”

“Mother, please speak your mind. As long as it is within my capabilities, I will definitely agree to your request.”

“Mother hopes that you can carefully ponder over the relationship between you and Yue Wang. A friendship is hard to come by, and one shouldn’t give up easily because of a bond.”

Mu Yunyao fell silent for a long while before speaking again, “Mother, I am clearly related to Yue Wang by blood, so why didn’t you stop us from being together, but instead persuade me to be more open?”

“Yao’er, this world is not fair to women. It is not easy for you to obtain a sincere relationship. Compared to the ethical relationship, Mother cares more about whether you live a happy life or not, and she cares even more about whether your husband can treat you wholeheartedly. To a man, getting married and having children was something happy about. But to a woman, every step was a hurdle. After the marriage, you will be bound with this man for the rest of your life. You will be together with him, sharing both honor and disgrace. You will have children, and giving birth is half-stepping into the gate of hell. Women could die because of childbirth. The situation of your adoptive mother during childbirth is the best example. If you can’t marry someone who loves you, what support do you rely on to spend this long life?”

Mu Yunyao’s gaze wavered violently. She felt as if something had poked her heart. “Mother, it’s still too early to say all this now. Let’s talk about it slowly.”

“Sigh, that’s fine. Has Mother been getting more and more long-winded recently?”

“How could that be? Mother is doing great!”

Su Qing couldn’t hold back her laughter. “You.”

The invitation for Mu Yunyao’s coming of age ceremony had already been sent out, and the location was set to be in Grand Princess Yi De’s private garden — Qin Fang Garden. It could be said that the date had been selected by the Venerate Heavens Sect after repeated calculation, and everything is appropriate.

Ever since the New Year, Ni Yun Fang stopped taking an order on the clothes business and wholeheartedly helped Mu Yunyao and Su Qing prepare the clothes they would be wearing on the day of the coming of age ceremony.

Everyone in the Capital already knew that this time’s ceremony not only signified Mu Yunyao’s coming of age but also the day when Grand Princess Yi De would recognize her daughter.

Everything involving Grand Princess Yide is enough to make people pay attention to it. Now that the Grand Princess had found her daughter, whom she had searched for more than thirty years, the various officials and aristocratic families began to attach great importance to it.

Qin Fang Garden has been renovated, and the whole garden has attracted hot spring water from the mountains. Despite the cold weather of the spring in the past few days, there were still countless flowers blooming in the garden. It could even be seen that the colorful butterflies were flying and dancing among the flowers. In Shang Pavilion, where the hot springs converge to form a small pool, a dense mist rose into the air as they strolled along the nine winding corridors. It was as though they had stepped into a fairyland, causing people’s hearts to be captivated.

The sixth day of February is a good day for everything. Mu Yunyao and Su Qing were resting in Qin Fang Garden one day in advance. That day, they had gotten up early and changed into a set of white clothes after taking a bath.

Su Qing helped Mu Yunyao comb her hair and watched as her hair flowed down her back like a silk waterfall behind her. With eyes filled with love, she said, “Yao’er, the last ceremony was completely messed up, but it will definitely go smoothly this time. After the ceremony, you will be an adult.”

Mu Yunyao turned around. “Mother, no matter how old I am, I’ll always be a child in front of you, and I’ll always need your love.”

Su Qing reached out to stroke her hair and combed it neatly with a rhinoceros’s horn comb. She simply pulled up her hair into a bun and said, “You’ll have to add hairpin later, so I just need to comb it simply.”

Mu Yunyao nodded. “Grandmother wants to host my coming of age ceremony personally. Today, I’ll have to trouble her to meet me.”

“Your grandmother was happy, and even if it was hard, she would be willing.”
