Gao Mei was relieved and said, “You have something to do this week?”
“Yes. I’ll go to the Taoist Temple to improve myself.” Mu Wan asked, “Do you have any good novels to recommend?”
Gao Mei has enjoyed reading novels. IP adaptation of online novels has become a hot topic in the past two years. Gao Mei has also acted in some of her favourite novels, which makes her extremely happy.
“Yes.” Gao Mei finished speaking, stunned, and said: “Are you going to the Taoist Temple to read these love novels? Are you going to improve yourself or fall in love?”
Mu Wan laughed as Gao Mei’s question went straight to hit her soul.
Mu Wan really going to fall in love, but it was unrequited love.
After she got the book list from Gao Mei, Mu Wan went to buy a few and put them in the suitcase. After buying the book, it was already noon. She casually ate outside, went to Liu Qianxiu’s house with her luggage, and waited for him.
The length of the surgery was uncertain, and Liu Qianxiu’s time to return home was slightly later than the scheduled time. When he went back, Mu Wan was sitting in front of the short table, and she was reading a book. Of course, she was not reading Tao Te Ching. The book’s cover was light, so it was a novel.
When Liu Qianxiu entered the door, Mu Wan looked up. She closed the book, got up from the carpet, and asked, “You are back. Do you want to rest for a while?”
He had just finished the operation and should be mentally and physically tired. But after Mu Wan finished speaking, he shook his head and said, “No need. We’re leaving now.”
Mu Wan didn’t have many things, only a small suitcase and a book in her hand. Liu Qianxiu even has fewer things, only a black backpack. The two took their things and got into the car, and Liu Qianxiu drove towards the mountains in the North District.
It’s only one o’clock in the afternoon, and the road situations are smooth. After it rained in the morning, it was sunny, and now it’s overcast again. Mu Wan had read the map, and they drove to Qingyuan Town at the foot of Qingyuan Mountain. It was estimated that it would take two hours. In addition to climbing to the Taoist Temple, they should arrive at four or five o’clock.
The road was wide open, and the car was quiet. Mu Wan didn’t put away the novel in her hand. After looking, she raised her head and asked Liu Qianxiu, “Is your senior brother easy to get along with?”
The last time she asked Liu Qianxiu, it seemed only his senior brother was present in the Taoist Temple. His senior brother should have been practising Taoism and must have had much more Taoism than Liu Qianxiu. She followed Liu Qianxiu to the Taoist Temple. It was all right if she didn’t improve herself, but she also took romance novels to read. Presumably, the senior brother would not like to see her very much.
“Not bad.” While waiting in front of the traffic light intersection, Liu Qianxiu glanced at the book in her hand.
“It’s okay if he is not easy to get along with.” Mu Wan said. Then she looked at Liu Qianxiu and said, “When we arrive at the Taoist temple, I will always follow you. I will only get along with you.”
When the red light turned green, Liu Qianxiu looked back at the road and faintly replied, “Yeah.”
At three o’clock in the afternoon, the two arrived at Qingyuan Town. Liu Qianxiu drove another half an hour before reaching Qingyuan Mountain. He parked the car next to a thatched hut at the bottom of Qingyuan Mountain. They got out of the car and prepared to climb Qingyuan Mountain.
The sky is still cloudy. The air in the mountains is fresher and cooler than in the cities. At the foot of Qingyuan Mountain, there is a road made of bluestone slabs. The stone slab’s surface is rough, which shows that few people have stepped on it. It extends to the high mountains and looks like a heavenly step.
It took an hour to climb the mountain. When Mu Wan and Liu Qianxiu reached the top of the mountain, they saw a Taoist Temple. There was a flat ground in front of the Taoist temple. The ground was soil and was crushed flat and firm. It had just rained, so the ground was wet with messy leaves. There is an old pine on the left side of the Taoist Temple with a large and dense crown, and the tree’s shadow covers the stone bench and table under the tree.
When she climbed the mountain, Mu Wan was breathing unevenly. She stood, looked back, and saw the mountain group in a glance, with the Sujiang River meanders and flowing eastward.
The distant mountains and flowing waters make people relax and their hearts happy.
Before she could see it, Mu Wan felt her heart had calmed down a lot.
Compared to her tiredness, Liu Qianxiu is much more relaxed. His complexion has not changed, and his breathing is very stable. He even had always been holding Mu Wan’s suitcase. Liu Qianxiu stands in front of the Taoist Temple, pushes the door, and enters the Taoist Temple. Mu Wan regained consciousness and walked in with him.
The Qingyuan Temple is small. An incense burner in the courtyard’s centre is lined with uneven floor tiles, and the main hall faces the entrance. There are statues of gods in the main hall. Beside the statues are the short table and futon.
There are four side halls on the left and right sides of the main hall. Among them, two rooms are closed, which are supposed to be used for rest.
A path is beside the main hall, which leads to the back hall. Taoist Temples generally have three floors, each enshrining different Taoist ancestors. However, Qingyuan Temple is small and simple, so the three ancestors are enshrined in the same main hall, with only one main hall left.
When he opened the door and came in, a small Taoist boy walked out of the main hall. The Taoist boy looked about seven or eight years old. His long hair was tied into a ball with a wooden hairpin, and his small face was pure and cute. He wore a water-blue Taoist robe and black cloth boots on his feet, which seemed printed in the Taoist Temple like a landscape painting.
Seeing the people coming, a small Taoist boy ran out anxiously. When he ran to Liu Qianxiu’s side, the small Taoist boy raised his head, and his voice was clear and sweet.
“Junior Brother Qianxiu.”
“Qianxiu...Junior Brother?” Mu Wan wasn’t sure if she had just heard this name. She glanced back at Liu Qianxiu, who looked pale. He put the suitcase aside and squatted beside the small Taoist boy.
“Qing Chan, when did Master leave?” Liu Qianxiu looked at Qing Chan and asked.
Qing Chan raised his eyes and looked at Mu Wan. When he saw a stranger, he was a little shy. He shyly retracted his gaze and said: “Just left. Master said you will come here soon, so he let me wait for you.”
The Taoist Master, Xuan Qingzi, would visit the Taoist Temple friends in Jingcheng until Sunday, so this month, he asked Liu Qianxiu to come ahead of time.
After Qing Chan finished speaking, he looked at Mu Wan again, with some novelty in the corners of his eyes. Mu Wan laughed and squatted down. She smiled and said, “Hello, Qing Chan. My name is Mu Wan.”
Mu Wan is beautiful and has a good voice, so she is a wonderful person in Qing Chan’s eyes. Qing Chan put away his curiosity and shyness. He laughed, revealing two little tiger teeth, and said, “It turns out to be my sister.”
Qing Chan’s tone was light like a bird, and his voice was full and sweet, like ripe berries. It made Mu Wan was sweetened a little bit. She reached out and touched Qing Chan’s face, then turned her head and smiled at Liu Qianxiu.
“Liu Qianxiu, your Senior Brother, called me sister.”
Liu Qianxiu looked back at her. Mu Wan’s shoulders were straight, her chin was slightly raised, and her eyes were full of a teasing smile. He raised his eyebrows slightly, got up from the ground, took her luggage, went to the side hall on the left, and said, “You will live here.”
Seeing Liu Qianxiu’s tall, straight figure deepened Mu Wan’s smile. Qing Chan, standing beside her, also looked at his Junior Brother. He turned around and explained to Mu Wan: “I grew up in the Taoist Temple and stayed with Master for a long time. That’s why I’m a Senior Brother. Senior Brother and Junior Brother are counted by seniority.”
After Qing Chan finished speaking, he clapped his little hand, “Oh, yes, I’m going to tell Master that Junior Brother is here.”
Afterwards, Qing Chan ran to the main hall and called his Master.
Mu Wan got up and walked to Liu Qianxiu, who was opening the door. Liu Qianxiu used to live in this side hall. When Mu Wan came over, she asked Liu Qianxiu.
“Then, if I’m going to worship Master, will I call you Senior Brother in the future?”
The movements of his hands paused slightly. Liu Qianxiu looked at her sideways.
Mu Wan smiled coquettishly. Her red lips were moist, her eyes glowed, and she said, “I don’t want to call you Senior Brother. I want to call you Big Brother. Big Brother is nice.”
With a slight push of his finger, his knuckles straightened out, and the door opened in response. Liu Qianxiu returned his sight and said to Mu Wan, “Come in.”
The author has something to say:Liu Daochang: Okay, that's what Shuangxiu will call it in the future.
