Chapter 28 (2/2)
“Junior Brother... Qianxiu?”
Mu Wan was not sure she had heard correctly.
She glanced back at Liu Qianxiu. His expression was calm as always. He set down the suitcase and crouched beside the little novice.
“Qingchan, when did Master leave?” Liu Qianxiu asked.
Qingchan looked up at Mu Wan. Seeing a stranger, he grew shy and looked away.
“He just left. Shifu said you’d be here soon and told me to wait for you.”
The abbot of Qingyuan Temple, Xuan Qingzi, had gone to a Taoist temple in Jingcheng to visit a friend. He would not return until Sunday, which was why Liu Qianxiu had come early this month.
After answering, Qingchan sneaked another curious glance at Mu Wan.
Mu Wan smiled and crouched down as well.
“Hello, Qingchan. My name is Mu Wan.”
Mu Wan was beautiful, and her voice was pleasant too. To Qingchan, she seemed like a marvelous person. He put aside his curiosity and shyness and smiled back, showing two small tiger teeth.
“So you’re Sister.”
The little novice’s voice lifted like a bird in flight, full and sweet like ripe fruit.
Mu Wan’s heart melted.
She reached out and gently pinched Qingchan’s little cheek, then turned and smiled at Liu Qianxiu.
“Liu Qianxiu, your Senior Brother called me Sister.”
Liu Qianxiu looked back at her. Her shoulders were straight, her chin slightly raised, and teasing laughter danced in her eyes. He lowered his gaze, picked up her suitcase, and took it into the side room on the left.
“You’ll stay here.”
Watching his tall, upright figure from behind, Mu Wan’s smile deepened.
Beside her, Qingchan was still looking at his shidi. Then he turned back to Mu Wan and explained, “I grew up in the temple and spent more time with Master, so I’m the Senior Brother. Senior Brother and Junior Brother are based on generation, not age.”
After saying that, Qingchan slapped his little forehead.
“Oh, right. I need to tell Master that Junior Brother has arrived.”
Then he ran off to the main hall to call his master.
Mu Wan got up and walked over to Liu Qianxiu, who was opening the door to the side room.
This used to be the room Liu Qianxiu stayed in.
Once she got there, she asked him, “Then if I become a disciple too, would I have to call you Senior Brother?”
His hand paused slightly.
Liu Qianxiu turned to look at her.
Mu Wan smiled in a way that was vivid and a little wicked, her red lips moist, the corners of her eyes tinged red.
“I won’t call you Senior Brother. I’ll call you Brother instead. It sounds nicer.”
His fingers tightened a fraction, the knuckles straightening as the door swung open.
Liu Qianxiu withdrew his gaze and said, “Go in.”

Lol. I wonder if the author's note are about LQX's inner thoughts. That's cute. But, irl... When you met this kind of guy, you should just tell them that you're not a mind reader and they should speak their thoughts out if they want you to understand it.
