“Do you want to come over?” Mei Yaozhi asked. The sound of children’s voices could be heard in the background.
Liu Qianxiu glanced at Mu Wan. Blinking her eyes, she whispered, “Tomorrow?”
“Tomorrow,” Liu Qianxiu said.
“Alright,” Mei Yaozhi replied. “I'll let Grandma know. She was worried Mu Wan might feel uncomfortable with the house being so chaotic right now.”
With that, Mei Yaozhi and Liu Qianxiu ended the call.
After hanging up, Liu Qianxiu steered the wheel and asked, “What do you feel like eating?”
As they prepared to head home, Mu Wan began pondering what dishes to make. Once she decided, they stopped by the supermarket.
Back home, Liu Qianxiu went to the kitchen while Mu Wan fed the cats in the cat room. The three kittens were growing bigger by the day, especially Datou, who already carried some of an adult cat’s demeanor despite not yet being three months old.
The house was quiet, filled only with the cats’ meows and the sound of running water from the kitchen. Sitting cross-legged, Mu Wan reflected: she and Liu Qianxiu really were already living as husband and wife.
They ate together, slept together, and now she carried his child. Even without an engagement banquet or wedding ceremony, once they had obtained their marriage certificate, they were husband and wife.
Mu Wan felt happy, joyful, and content. She stood up from the floor and walked toward the kitchen. Inside, the man stood at the sink, his back turned to her.
His silhouette was tall and straight, slightly lean. When alone, he carried an air of solitary coolness and detached simplicity, showing no trace of being someone’s husband.
Mu Wan approached and embraced him from behind. His hands were still washing celery. Startled by the embrace, he paused and glanced back at her.
“What is it?” He turned on the faucet and rinsed his fingers clean.
Mu Wan met his gaze and gave a small smile. Her warm breath washed over his back through his shirt, making his throat move slightly.
He turned off the faucet, the rushing water ceasing. From behind came a soft, kitten-like purr.
“Husband~” she called softly.
Her voice was neither loud nor soft, the rising inflection at the end like a triumphant cat’s tail, brushing against the tip of his heart. His heart stirred. He lifted his gaze to the window, his eyes churning with emotion.
After a moment, he turned back, cupping the waist of the woman pressed against him. She seemed slightly embarrassed, her cheeks flushed, her earlobes crimson, her lips also red, yet curved in a smile.
He gazed into her watery eyes, his voice slightly deepened as he tilted his head downward and asked, “What did you just call me?”
Mu Wan licked her lower lip and tilted her head back to look at him. Her body was fully pressed against him, his arms holding her firmly in place. Her face felt hot, but she didn’t back down. “I just called you ‘husband’~.”
After saying that, her face burned even hotter. Mu Wan blinked, looking uncertainly at Liu Qianxiu and asked, “Is it not as nice as Liu Qianxiu?”
She lifted her eyes, staring intently at him, waiting for his answer, her heart both shy and anxious. After a moment, the man actually smiled.
His smile carried a sweeping power, like spring blossoms bursting forth in the fields as ice and snow melted. That smile swept away Mu Wan, her cheeks flushing even redder.
As her cheeks flushed, he leaned down and kissed the corner of her lips. His fingers, still slightly damp, brushed against her cheek—cool and comforting.
“You sound beautiful no matter what you call me.”
Mu Wan’s heart felt like it had been dipped in sugar, sweetness making her eyes narrow in delight. Mu Wan laughed, wrapping her arms around him and burying her face in his chest, her voice barely audible.
“Would my moans be just as sweet in bed?”
Her voice was like burning sandalwood incense, its tendrils coiling around you, tempting you. After she finished speaking, Mu Wan distinctly felt Liu Qianxiu’s heartbeat quicken.
“Hahaha!” She acted decisively, teasing him before making her escape. But before she could leave, her hand was seized by Liu Qianxiu. The disparity in their physical strength was vast, like comparing apples to oranges. She was like a kitten that had bitten its owner, dragged back by the tail with no chance to resist.
Muwan let out two “Ah!” cries as the man bit her ear. Soft lips, gently clenched teeth, his breath, and his deep, hoarse voice all flooded into her body at once.
“Tonight, I'll listen carefully,” he said.
Fireworks exploded in Muwan’s mind.
