Little Airplane
Liu Qianxiu stood there looking at her, something stirring in his dark eyes.
He finished pouring the water, walked over, handed it to Mu Wan, then lifted her into his arms.
Mu Wan was ecstatic.
She had never made any particular plans about when to have children, but she had the money and time to raise one. Whether she had a child sooner or later made little difference.
Besides, this was Liu Qianxiu’s child.
Held in his arms, Mu Wan drank the water and set the glass aside. The arms around her waist tightened slightly.
Liu Qianxiu always wore the same calm, tranquil expression, but Mu Wan had learned to read his emotions from the smallest movements.
They were both happy.
Smiling brightly, Mu Wan said, “I wonder when I got pregnant. Probably about a week ago.”
After all, pregnancy tests only became accurate after enough time had passed.
“On the plane,” Liu Qianxiu said.
Still holding her, he sat down on one of the high stools.
Mu Wan tilted her head and looked down at him.
Remembering how certain he had been that she would get pregnant, she gradually realized something and laughed.
“So you weren’t trying to win through sheer quantity. You calculated my fertile period.”
“Mm.”
Liu Qianxiu kissed the corner of her mouth.
His lips were soft against hers.
Mu Wan looked down at him, her entire heart overflowing with sweetness and happiness.
She wrapped her arms around Liu Qianxiu and breathed in his familiar scent.
“Liu Qianxiu,” she murmured, “I love you so much~”
The arms around her tightened again.
A kiss brushed near her ear, followed by his quiet response.
“Mm.”
The excitement of the morning slowly faded into tranquility.
They simply held each other, listening to one another’s heartbeats as time quietly flowed by.
It felt as though an entire lifetime could pass like this.
Mu Wan rested her head against Liu Qianxiu’s shoulder.
After staying still for a while, her thoughts began to wander. She reached up and pinched his cheek as she imagined what their child might look like.
She and Liu Qianxiu were both good-looking.
There was not a bad angle between them.
Their child would definitely be beautiful too.
“Liu Qianxiu.”
“Mm?”
He lowered his head and kissed her fingertips.
“Our baby was conceived on an airplane.”
Mu Wan straightened and looked at him with shining eyes.
“So we shouldn’t call the baby Little Potato.”
Her expression grew solemn.
“We should call it Little Airplane.”
Her eyes were wide and glistening, her small nose delicate and slightly upturned, her red lips parted. Her pale face was framed by curls she had not yet brushed, making her look particularly adorable.
Liu Qianxiu kissed the tip of her nose.
It tickled, and Mu Wan burst into laughter.
A faint smile appeared on his lips too.
“All right.”
Although Mu Wan was pregnant, she did not stop working.
She adjusted her filming schedule so that she would go to the production base after lunch. Once she finished filming, she would go to the hospital and wait for Liu Qianxiu to get off work, then the two of them would return home together.
After Liu Fengmian and Liu Qingyuan were imprisoned, the Liu family residence became rather empty.
Although there were no longer any masters living there, the original housekeeper and servants remained. The residence had been built in the style of a traditional Chinese garden, and the buildings and grounds required constant maintenance.
Liu Qianxiu had no intention of moving back.
However, he transferred one of the Liu family’s drivers to take Mu Wan to and from the production base.
The man had been Liu Qianxiu’s mother’s personal chauffeur when she was alive. His driving skills and character were both excellent. He was now in his fifties, and following Liu Qianxiu’s example, Mu Wan called him Uncle Li.
Mu Wan had not yet finished filming that day when she received a call from Auntie Wu.
After the Liu family scandal, Mu Qing had also been implicated.
Although she had not gone to prison, she had been fined a considerable amount in back taxes. To pay the penalties, the Mu family had sold their residence, and Auntie Wu had been dismissed.
She was already old enough to retire, so after leaving the Mu household, she simply began enjoying retirement.
Now she had plenty of free time.
When she heard that Mu Wan had returned, she immediately wanted to visit and cook for her.
“Auntie Wu.”
Mu Wan smiled when she answered the phone.
“Wanwan, when will you finish filming?” Auntie Wu asked. “I’m at your apartment. I came over to cook for you.”
The older woman loved cooking, and they had not seen one another in quite some time. Mu Wan missed her too, so she did not refuse.
She checked her filming schedule.
These days, she only accepted roles in modern dramas. Now that she was pregnant, she certainly could not do the kind of wirework that had once sent her flying through the air.
Today’s scene was not particularly important. It could easily be filmed tomorrow instead.
After agreeing on a time with Auntie Wu, Mu Wan went to the director and asked whether she could leave early.
The director raised no objections and nodded.
Mu Wan then went to the dressing room to remove her makeup and change.
Ever since the cosmetics advertisement shoot, members of the production team had occasionally talked about her. As word spread, most people on set had gained a general idea of Mu Wan’s background.
Having powerful connections was not particularly unusual in the entertainment industry.
What was unusual was that Mu Wan’s powerful backer was also the man she genuinely loved.
And that backer happened to be extraordinarily powerful.
Mu Wan herself was always polite and considerate toward everyone on set, so most people had a good impression of her.
“I’m so jealous of Mu Wan,” a supporting actress who had worked with her sighed as she watched her leave. “She can take whatever roles she wants and go home whenever she wants.”
“She was born into a life of wealth and privilege,” another supporting actress said. “There’s no point being jealous.”
“Hey, did you see the ring she’s wearing? It’s gorgeous. It doesn’t look like an ordinary big diamond ring.”
“I saw it! Are they getting married?”
“Do you think she’ll still act after marrying into a wealthy family?”
“If she’s still acting now, she’ll probably keep doing it afterward,” the first actress said. “She’s different from us. We act to make money and become famous. She’s doing it purely because she enjoys it.”
Another round of envious sighs followed.
