Two Little Flowers
After giving birth, Mu Wan had to go through another exhausting period of postpartum confinement and recovery.
Everyone in the Liu residence revolved around her, and Mu Wan found all the attention somewhat overwhelming.
Fortunately, she was naturally healthy. Her confinement and postpartum recovery took a little over two months.
By the third month, her body had mostly recovered, and only the postpartum nanny and childcare staff remained to help care for the baby.
Finally free from being constantly fussed over by a crowd of people, Mu Wan stretched her body and felt as though even the air smelled of freedom.
She had barely finished stretching when the little one on the bed made two soft babbling sounds.
Mu Wan immediately lowered her arms and hurried over to the crib.
Before Liu Anzhi was born, Liu Qianxiu had already arranged for a nursery to be built beside their bedroom.
Originally, the postpartum nanny had stayed there at night to care for Anzhi.
But Mu Wan and Liu Anzhi seemed to share an almost instinctive connection between mother and daughter. Whenever Anzhi woke up, Mu Wan would somehow wake at the same time.
Eventually, Mu Wan simply moved into the nursery.
Naturally, Liu Qianxiu moved with her.
After the couple relocated there, Mu Wan slept particularly well surrounded by the faint milky scent of the baby.
Later, it was Liu Qianxiu who got up during the night to care for both Mu Wan and Anzhi.
Fortunately, Liu Anzhi was an exceptionally well-behaved baby. She rarely woke during the night, so Liu Qianxiu could usually sleep through until morning.
“Who is my baby calling for?”
Mu Wan walked along the edge of the bed toward the crib.
She bent slightly and spoke in a gentle voice.
The moment she finished speaking, the little one in the crib smiled.
When Liu Anzhi had first been born, she had been wrinkled and red. To outsiders, she might even have looked rather ugly.
But at three months old, she had already grown beautifully.
Her skin was snowy white, her hair jet black, and beneath clearly defined double eyelids were a pair of huge dark eyes.
Her cheeks were plump, while her nose and mouth were both small and delicate.
Even as an infant, it was obvious that she was an exceptionally beautiful baby.
Aside from being pretty, Liu Anzhi also had an especially sweet temperament.
Mu Wan barely had to tease her before the little one began waving her arms and laughing aloud.
Even a baby’s laughter seemed to carry a milky sweetness.
Mu Wan felt as though strength suddenly poured into both her body and spirit.
She smiled without even realizing it and lifted Anzhi into her arms.
Her daughter was simply too adorable!
Liu Anzhi had no idea what her mother was marveling over.
The moment she was picked up, her eyes curved happily.
She raised her soft little fingers and touched Mu Wan’s cheek.
Mu Wan carefully opened her mouth and gently enclosed one of the baby’s fingers between her lips.
Anzhi immediately giggled again.
Her daughter was so easygoing.
Most of the time, she either ate, slept, or smiled.
She was incredibly easy to care for.
Even if Mu Wan did nothing except stay beside her, she still found every moment full and interesting.
After playing with the little one for a while, Mu Wan checked the time.
Three in the afternoon.
Liu Qianxiu should have finished surgery by now.
She took out her phone and aimed the camera at her baby.
Then she lightly snapped her fingers.
Liu Anzhi’s black-grape eyes immediately shifted toward her mother’s fingers.
At first, she simply stared blankly.
Then Mu Wan popped her face out from behind the phone.
“Aww, look at you~”
The baby’s little mouth curved upward like a crescent moon.
As she smiled, she waved her tiny arms and babbled.
“Ah!”
Mu Wan’s heart melted all over again.
She immediately put down the phone and bent over to kiss the little one’s cheeks twice.
They were so soft that her lips seemed to sink into them.
Being kissed by her mother, Anzhi began giggling again.
Mu Wan straightened.
First, she sent the short video.
Then she lay down beside Anzhi.
Mother and daughter smiled together for a photo.
Both had puppy-like eyes, curved happily at the corners.
After taking the picture, Mu Wan sent it to Liu Qianxiu with the caption:
Sending Daddy a heart.
Less than half a minute later, Liu Qianxiu replied.
Daoist Liu: Two little flowers.
Seeing the reply, Mu Wan’s heart filled with sweetness.
She rolled over and tapped out another message.
Wooden Bowl: One big flower and one little flower. Both belong to you.
The response came quickly.
Elsewhere, Liu Qianxiu’s phone vibrated.
He picked it up and glanced at the screen.
Seeing Mu Wan’s reply, his gaze softened and the corner of his mouth lifted slightly.
He had just finished surgery and had been called to a meeting by Xiao Tan.
The two men were walking through the hospital corridor.
Liu Qianxiu was already tall and striking, with an unusual presence that naturally attracted attention.
And that tiny change in his expression did not go unnoticed.
Several young nurses walking nearby kept glancing in his direction.
Their eyes had practically lit up in unison.
Xiao Tan certainly did not think he himself possessed that much charm.
He glanced sideways at Liu Qianxiu.
The faint smile on Liu Qianxiu’s lips had already disappeared.
He was simply looking at his phone and typing a reply.
Liu Qianxiu rarely checked his phone under normal circumstances.
Much less while walking.
Xiao Tan’s curiosity was immediately aroused.
When they reached the meeting room, he set the documents in his hands down and asked,
“What are you looking at?”
Only then did Liu Qianxiu shift a fraction of his attention toward him.
But it was only a fraction.
His gaze quickly returned to his phone.
The meeting had not started yet, so there was no risk of delaying work.
After sending his final reply, Liu Qianxiu answered,
“Photos.”
The moment he said that, Xiao Tan understood.
Liu Qianxiu had become a father several months ago.
Xiao Tan was his senior and had naturally gone to visit the baby.
The little girl was bright and adorable.
When she smiled, she was especially lively.
Exactly like her mother.
Remembering her, Xiao Tan wanted to see too.
He leaned toward Liu Qianxiu from his chair.
“Let me see.”
Liu Qianxiu looked up at him.
Xiao Tan immediately protested,
“Oh, come on. Don’t be so stingy.”
Naturally, Liu Qianxiu was not that stingy.
His daughter could be shown.
His wife was another matter.
He saved the short video Mu Wan had just sent into his photo album.
Then he opened the album and played the video.
Who could possibly resist baby Liu Anzhi’s smile?
No one.
Even Xiao Tan, a dignified hospital director, was completely defeated by it.
Without realizing it, he smiled too.
The baby’s happiness was simply too infectious.
He could not help replaying the video.
After watching it again, he patted Liu Qianxiu on the shoulder.
“With a daughter this beautiful, you’re going to have plenty to worry about in the future.”
Liu Qianxiu was about to put away his phone.
Xiao Tan quickly said,
“One more time.”
The video played again.
Watching Anzhi, Liu Qianxiu asked,
“Worry about what?”
“Worry about all the little brats who’ll like her.”
After watching it one final time, Xiao Tan finally let him put the phone away.
Liu Qianxiu answered casually,
“That’s still a long way off.”
