Anzhi’s First-Birthday Choice
Time passed in the blink of an eye, and Liu Anzhi reached her first birthday.
She was the eldest daughter of the Liu family. According to the Liu family, such an occasion should have been celebrated on a grand scale.
But Liu Qianxiu disliked noisy gatherings.
Even though Liu Anzhi was the Liu family’s eldest daughter and might one day become the head of the Liu family, she was first and foremost his and Mu Wan’s daughter.
So in the end, Anzhi’s first-birthday celebration was relatively simple.
Only members of the Mei family and a few close friends of Liu Qianxiu and Mu Wan were invited. Everyone simply gathered together for a lively celebration.
The banquet was scheduled to begin at six in the evening.
Lin Wei arrived a little after four.
The moment she entered Mu Wan’s house, Lu Yihe, who was in her arms, could no longer contain himself.
His eyes darted around.
Seeing Mu Wan’s empty arms, he called eagerly,
“Little sister... little sister...”
At one year and one month old, Lu Yihe could already say a few words.
But he was still limited to individual words and could not form complete sentences.
Fortunately, he did not need to express himself completely.
The adults understood perfectly well what he meant.
Today, Lu Yihe wore a tiny suit.
Even his hair had been carefully combed into place.
Lin Wei was a designer and naturally paid particular attention to such things.
The little boy looked exceptionally polished. Although his face still carried plenty of baby fat, he was already beginning to resemble a spoiled young master.
There were not many children around him to play with on ordinary days.
Only when he came to Mu Wan’s house with Lin Wei did he have Liu Anzhi to keep him company.
So the little boy was especially attached to his playmate.
The moment he asked about her, all the adults laughed.
Mu Wan led Lin Wei’s family inside and smiled at Lu Yihe.
“Does Little Seedling miss his little sister?”
Lu Yihe’s eyes immediately lit up.
He smiled and nodded.
Lin Wei laughed helplessly at how shamelessly eager her son was.
She put him down.
“How much do you miss her?”
Lu Yihe looked back at his mother.
Then he spread his arms as wide as he could, lifted his little chin, and said,
“Lots...”
“What about the little girl we met on the street yesterday?”
Lin Wei reminded him.
“Little Rou-Rou.”
Lu Yihe did not hesitate at all.
He nodded and smiled.
“Miss...”
The adults burst into laughter.
While they were laughing, Lu Yihe suddenly heard a clear little voice call,
“Brother...”
Everyone followed the sound.
Liu Anzhi had just woken up.
Liu Qianxiu was holding her, and she was smiling sweetly at Lu Yihe.
Although Anzhi was younger than him, she was clever and had started speaking unusually early.
At only one year old, she could already pronounce several clear syllables.
Besides “Daddy” and “Mommy,” she could also say “Brother.”
Her soft, sweet voice, combined with her irresistibly bright smile, was impossible for anyone to resist.
The moment Lu Yihe saw her, his eyes immediately lit up.
He ran straight toward Liu Qianxiu.
In Liu Qianxiu’s arms, Anzhi struggled to get down so she could play with her little friend.
Liu Qianxiu crouched and placed his daughter on the floor.
Anzhi was holding a ball.
Seeing Lu Yihe approach, she generously offered it to him.
But Lu Yihe did not take the ball.
Instead, he opened both arms and hugged Liu Anzhi tightly.
As he hugged her, he giggled and called,
“Little sister.”
Liu Qianxiu stood beside the two toddlers.
He watched as Lu Yihe hugged his daughter without the slightest hesitation.
And Anzhi showed absolutely no sign of resisting.
Instead, she smiled even more sweetly and even rubbed the ball against Lu Yihe’s cheek.
“Come sit down.”
Mu Wan saw Liu Qianxiu still standing and called to him.
“Mm.”
Liu Qianxiu looked up at her.
He had just started to walk over when Lin Wei suddenly cried,
“Oh!”
Before Mu Wan could react, Liu Qianxiu had already picked Anzhi up.
Lu Feng hurried over.
Trying not to laugh, he picked Lu Yihe up as well.
Lu Yihe was clearly dissatisfied at being carried away.
He stretched his body toward Anzhi in Liu Qianxiu’s arms while calling,
“Little sister...”
“See? See?”
Lin Wei looked helpless.
Staring at her son in Lu Feng’s arms, she repeated what was probably the hundredth reminder,
“Didn’t Mommy tell you? If you want to kiss a girl, you have to ask whether she wants you to kiss her first.”
Lu Yihe naturally ignored her.
He continued staring at Anzhi.
Anzhi hugged her ball and smiled at him, looking so sweet she practically glowed.
Lin Wei finally gave up.
She frowned.
“Your father is such an honest man. Who exactly did you inherit this habit of kissing girls and acting like a little hooligan from?”
Lu Feng, who had suddenly been dragged into the conversation:
“...”
Only after Lin Wei finished lecturing Lu Yihe and confirmed that he would not immediately try to kiss Anzhi again did Liu Qianxiu put his daughter down so the two children could play together.
The moment he did, his phone vibrated.
He glanced at Anzhi playing on the floor, said something to Mu Wan, then stepped aside to answer the call.
It was the first birthday of the Liu family’s eldest young lady.
Even though Liu Qianxiu had not arranged a grand celebration, there were still many things for him to handle.
The heads of the Liu family’s various branches around the world were all calling to offer their congratulations.
The two little ones played happily together.
They did not really need toys.
Simply being together seemed entertaining enough.
Anzhi was clearly delighted.
Her eyes remained curved with smiles almost the entire time.
Lin Wei watched the two little bundles.
Then she glanced in the direction Liu Qianxiu had disappeared.
Turning toward Lu Feng, she said,
“Having a daughter really does mean more worrying. You have to watch her carefully from such a young age. If she had more little playmates like our son, you’d never be able to guard against all of them.”
Lu Yihe seemed to understand that his mother was talking about him.
He looked up and started stretching his arms toward Anzhi again.
Lin Wei immediately gave him a warning look.
The little boy withdrew his arms.
He picked up a ball and continued playing with Anzhi.
“Not necessarily,” Lu Feng replied.
“If we’re talking about genetics, maybe our future daughter will be the one kissing other little boys.”
The moment he finished, Mu Wan burst out laughing.
Lin Wei had been smiling too.
But after thinking carefully about his words, she suddenly sensed something was wrong.
She slapped Lu Feng on the arm.
“What exactly do you mean by that?”
Lu Feng did not mind being hit.
He poured her a glass of water and laughed.
“Nothing. Nothing at all.”
Once the couple finished bickering, Mu Wan finally stopped laughing.
Lin Wei looked toward her.
“What did you prepare for Anzhi’s first-birthday selection ceremony?”
“Auntie Wu prepared everything.”
Mu Wan had not looked closely herself.
“There are so many things. I have no idea what she’ll choose.”
“It might be a little superstitious, but these first-birthday choices can be surprisingly accurate.”
Lin Wei pointed toward her son.
“For example, our Little Seedling.”
At that, Mu Wan laughed again.
She had attended Lu Yihe’s first birthday celebration.
During his selection ceremony, Lu Yihe had picked up a toy car.
Then he had chosen a wine glass as well.
It had been the perfect combination for a future spoiled young master.
After chatting with Lin Wei and the others for a while, more guests gradually arrived.
The birthday dinner began.
The traditional first-birthday selection ceremony was held during the meal.
Auntie Wu spread out a red cloth and filled it with different objects.
Liu Anzhi still had a pacifier in her mouth.
She was placed among the objects and had absolutely no idea what she was supposed to do.
She simply looked up at Liu Qianxiu, opened her arms, and asked him to hold her.
Liu Qianxiu crouched down.
His gaze softened as he looked at his daughter.
He stroked her little head.
“What does Anzhi like?”
His finger swept across the objects on the red cloth.
Anzhi turned her little head and followed the direction of his hand.
She seemed to understand what he meant.
Twisting her tiny body, she began crawling across the red cloth with the pacifier still in her mouth.
She moved at an unhurried pace.
Eventually, she stopped in front of a DSLR camera.
It was the largest object among everything laid out.
Her chubby little hand patted it once.
Then she plopped herself down in front of it and wrapped both short arms around the lens, trying with all her strength to lift it.
After struggling for a while without success, she looked up at Mu Wan.
“Baby likes this?”
Mu Wan asked.
Then she picked up the DSLR and stroked Anzhi’s little cheek.
“Then Mommy will keep it for you. Pick another one.”
Once the camera had been removed, Anzhi moved her little mouth.
Then, as though setting out to explore a whole new map, she twisted around and continued crawling.
After crawling for a while, she finally stopped beside a novel.
The book was not very large.
She could actually lift it.
The moment she picked it up, everyone around them began clapping.
Encouraged by the applause, Anzhi waved the book to one side and flailed her little arms excitedly.
She giggled.
Then Liu Qianxiu picked her up.
So, Liu Anzhi chose a DSLR camera and a novel.
