Incurable Chapter 68 She Has Talent (2)

The Whole World Once everything was ready, Liu Anzhi changed costumes. Even dressed in coarse cloth with her hair braided, the little girl still somehow looked fresh and ethereal. She listened carefully to her mother’s instructions. The moment the director called action, her expression immediately changed. Tears instantly gathered in her eyes. The sight of such a tiny child looking on the verge of tears made everyone around them suck in a breath. Even Mu Wan froze for a moment. “Mother~” Liu Anzhi called. Mu Wan came back to herself and immediately entered character. Mother and daughter completed the entire scene in a single take. The instant they finished, the director called cut. Liu Anzhi immediately transformed from the obedient, sensible little girl in the scene back into a child who loved acting spoiled. Tears still clung to her eyelashes. Yet she was already smiling. Her eyes were crystal clear inside their reddened rims. She stretched out both arms. “Mommy, carry me.” It was he...

Incurable Chapter 68 She Has Talent (1)

Anzhi Comes to the Film Set

After Liu Anzhi turned one, Mu Wan gradually returned to acting.

By the time Anzhi was two, Mu Wan had resumed almost the same workload she had before pregnancy.

Mu Wan was quite happy to be back on set.

Liu Anzhi was also extremely well behaved. She would wait obediently at home for her mother to return, and during breaks in filming, Mu Wan would often video-call her.

“Mommy, do your best filming~”

At three and a half years old, Liu Anzhi was becoming prettier by the day.

She was growing exactly like a little fairy.

Her appearance combined the best features of both Mu Wan and Liu Qianxiu.

She had Mu Wan’s lively charm and Daoist Liu’s ethereal beauty.

Her complexion was cool and pale, her eyes large, and her loose hair carried a faint natural curl.

Anyone who saw her found it difficult to look away.

Her daughter’s voice was sweet and her tone adorable. As she encouraged her mother, she even winked at her.

She looked like a little sprite.

Mu Wan’s heart suffered a direct hit.

A maternal smile appeared on her face without her realizing it, and she nodded repeatedly.

“Mommy knows. Anzhi has to be good at home too.”

Liu Anzhi nodded solemnly.

“Okay, okay~”

Mu Wan believed her on that point.

Compared with when she was younger, Anzhi had become slightly more mischievous and clever.

But compared with most children, she was still remarkably well behaved.

The Liu residence had already arranged etiquette and cultivation classes for her.

Their little daughter was gradually growing into a proper young lady.

The Spring Festival was approaching, and the weather had turned cold.

Mu Wan was resting indoors between scenes.

Just before she ended the video call with Anzhi, Gao Mei came over and hurriedly called out,

“Baby Anzhi, did you miss Auntie?”

Mu Wan did not hang up.

Laughing, she handed the phone to Gao Mei.

Mu Wan often video-called Anzhi.

Whenever Gao Mei had free time, she would come over and tease her for a while.

Anzhi liked this plump auntie very much.

Gao Mei was humorous and could always make her laugh.

After chatting with Anzhi for a while, Gao Mei reluctantly handed the phone back.

Anzhi said goodbye to her mother one last time.

Mu Wan smiled and answered before ending the call.

“Anzhi is way too beautiful.”

Gao Mei sighed.

“I’m completely obsessed with her looks. She’s this gorgeous when she’s this young. What’s going to happen when she grows up?”

Everyone agreed that Liu Anzhi was beautiful.

No one who saw her could keep from staring.

“People can change as they grow up,” Mu Wan said. “You don’t even have to look far. Think about some child stars. They’re gorgeous when they’re little, but once their features mature, they aren’t necessarily as attractive as they were as kids.”

The moment she said that, Gao Mei looked horrified.

She covered Mu Wan’s mouth with her chubby hand and warned,

“Don’t curse my goddess with that nonsense.”

She did not use much force.

Mu Wan dodged away and burst out laughing.

“My daughter won’t. She takes after me. I was pretty when I was little and even prettier when I grew up~”

Mu Wan had every right to be vain.

Because that was indeed true.

Gao Mei laughed too, half annoyed and half amused.

“You can compliment yourself all you want. Just don’t say things like that about my goddess Anzhi.”

The two joked around for a while.

Once they quieted down, Gao Mei suddenly asked,

“Have you ever thought about letting Anzhi become a child actress? With her looks and personality, she’d leave no work for the other child stars.”

Anzhi truly was clever and lively.

She also enjoyed expressing herself.

Mu Wan thought about it, then shook her head.

“Better not. When Little Seedling comes to my house, Daoist Liu already guards Anzhi like a fortress. If she really became a child star and had that many little boys liking her, Daoist Liu wouldn’t be able to keep up.”

“Oh my.”

Gao Mei imagined the scene.

Then she thought of Liu Qianxiu’s looks and temperament and instantly transformed into one of his fans.

“Daoist Liu is so irresistible.”

To Gao Mei, Mu Wan was practically a winner in life.

And it was not because Liu Qianxiu was the head of the Liu family.

Even if he had been nothing more than a doctor, he would still have been enviable.

A handsome husband.

A beautiful daughter.

And both of them loved her so much.

Even in an ordinary family, having loved ones like that would already be a kind of completeness.

After ending the video call, Liu Anzhi prepared to go to the back garden to feed the fish.

The moment she stepped outside, her eyes lit up.

A tall, straight figure appeared in front of her.

Liu Anzhi instantly became excited.

She ran up the steps and called happily,

“Daddy~”

The little girl’s voice was crisp and sweet, like biting into fresh sugarcane.

Liu Qianxiu lowered his gaze.

His pace quickened slightly.

When she reached him, he lifted her from the ground.

Liu Anzhi wore a little dress.

Her long, slightly curled black hair fell down her back.

Her puppy-like eyes curved happily.

She wrapped her arms around her father’s neck and rubbed her little face against him twice, acting spoiled like a tiny kitten.

“You’re back~”

Her voice was unbearably sweet.

It was chilly outside.

Liu Qianxiu answered softly and carried Anzhi back into the living room.

Once inside, he asked,

“Do you want to come with me to see Mommy?”

He had finished surgery early today, so he left work ahead of schedule.

It was only four o’clock.

Mu Wan would finish filming at five.

If father and daughter left now, they would arrive just in time to pick her up.

It was rare for him to get off work early.

He had originally planned to drive directly to the filming base.

But Mu Wan had messaged him saying she missed Anzhi.

That was why he had come home first to pick up their daughter.

It was Anzhi’s first time going to pick up her mother.

She was extremely excited.

Her eyes sparkled as she nodded vigorously.

“Yes, yes!”

As she spoke, she struggled down from Liu Qianxiu’s arms.

Walking away, she said,

“I need to bring Mommy clothes. It’s cold.”

Liu Anzhi had always been a perfectly considerate little “cotton-padded jacket.”

Having another person who loved Mu Wan with him made Liu Qianxiu’s expression soften slightly.

He watched his daughter walk away and instructed the nanny responsible for Anzhi,

“Put something warmer on her too.”

Once everything was ready, father and daughter got into the car.

It was Liu Anzhi’s first time visiting the place where her mother worked.

She was filled with excitement and curiosity.

Holding a stuffed unicorn in her arms, she sat in the child safety seat in the back and chattered endlessly, asking her father questions.

Liu Qianxiu drove quietly.

Occasionally, he answered her.

Every time he did, Anzhi made an expression that seemed to say, Oh, so that’s how it is.

Her anticipation only grew.

Carrying that curiosity with her the entire way, Liu Anzhi arrived at the filming base with her father.

The filming base was divided into different themed areas.

Mu Wan was currently filming a Republican-era drama on a street built in the style of that period.

There were many extras around.

All kinds of people moved through the area.

Liu Qianxiu carried Liu Anzhi through the crowd.

He was already eye-catching with his tall figure, cool temperament, and handsome features.

But Liu Anzhi in his arms was even more striking.

She held a white unicorn.

She wore a modified hanfu.

Her complexion was pale, her lips red, and her eyes bright.

She looked around curiously, full of life.

Mu Wan was waiting for her scene.

A little actress working with her had stage fright and refused to cooperate.

Mu Wan was currently holding a lollipop and trying to coax her.

While she was doing so, a male actor came over from outside.

He sighed in amazement.

“What kind of immortal father-and-daughter pair is that? That little girl is unbelievably pretty. I want a daughter that beautiful too.”

A female actress beside him replied,

“Take a look at the girl’s father before saying that. If you want a daughter that pretty, you need good genes to give her.”

Actors were naturally above average in appearance.

So when the actress said that, everyone’s curiosity was immediately aroused.

Mu Wan handed the lollipop to the little actress.

She was just about to stand when she heard a familiar voice.

“Mommy~”

Everyone on set turned toward Mu Wan.

Mu Wan raised her eyes.

She saw Liu Anzhi in Liu Qianxiu’s arms.

So the “immortal father-and-daughter pair” everyone had just been talking about were her husband and daughter?

Mu Wan realized it belatedly and laughed.

She stood and walked toward them under everyone’s gaze.

Then she took Anzhi into her arms.

“Mommy~”

The moment Anzhi was held by her mother, she handed the unicorn to her father.

She wrapped her arms around Mu Wan’s neck and smiled sweetly, acting spoiled.

Mu Wan’s heart instantly melted.

She looked up at Liu Qianxiu.

“Why are you two here?”

Holding the unicorn, Liu Qianxiu looked at her with dark eyes.

He reached over and brushed the hair beside her ear away.

A faint smile touched his lips.

“I finished work early. I came to pick you up. Are you done?”

A crowd had gathered around the set.

Not only people from their production, but members of other crews had come over to look at Anzhi too.

Anzhi rested her little head against her mother’s shoulder.

She was not shy around strangers.

She simply looked at everyone curiously.

When someone teased her, she smiled.

Her eyes curved like a little angel’s.

People standing farther away had already begun whispering.

Everyone in the entertainment industry knew that Mu Wan had the Liu family behind her.

But very few people had actually met her husband.

Those who had seen him said he looked like an immortal.

People who had not seen him could never quite imagine what that meant.

Now that they finally saw him, the effect was genuinely startling.

Mu Wan herself was already beautiful.

Add an almost otherworldly husband.

The child produced by such a couple was beyond imagination.

“Not yet.”

Mu Wan handed Anzhi back to Liu Qianxiu.

“One final scene.”

She glanced at the little actress beside them.

The child had become even more timid and remained hidden behind her mother.

She had cried earlier.

Now she was still crying and showed absolutely no intention of acting.

This was a children’s film.

The director was an elderly man in his sixties.

Mu Wan had even watched one of his animated films when she was a child.

She respected him greatly.

The little actress clearly did not want to perform and kept hiding.

The director’s gaze shifted toward Liu Anzhi.

He smiled.

“Little one, would you like to act with your mommy?”

He had a beard touched with white.

His hair was neatly groomed.

He looked like a kind grandfather from an animated film.

The moment he asked, Mu Wan glanced at the young actress and then at Anzhi.

Liu Anzhi had never been shy around strangers.

She looked toward the little actress, then asked the director,

“Grandpa, can I have a lollipop?”

Children were always innocent in their own way.

To her, one lollipop was practically the entire world.

The moment she said it, everyone on set smiled instinctively.

A female actress clutched her chest.

“Auntie will buy them for you. All of them!”

The director also found Anzhi exceptionally lively.

Maybe she really could act.

He laughed.

“Of course. If you act well, Grandpa will give you a lollipop.”

Then he looked back at Mu Wan.

“Can we let her try?”

Seeing that Anzhi was curious and interested, Mu Wan did not refuse.

“All right. But this is her first time acting. She might not manage it.”

After giving the modest disclaimer, Mu Wan used the existing setup to explain the scene to Anzhi.

It was not difficult.

Anzhi only had to walk over, take her mother’s hand, and ask for candied hawthorn.

The character Mu Wan was playing had no money.

The little girl would obediently stop asking.

Then, when they went outside, someone would lure her away using candied hawthorn.

Mother and daughter practiced together.

Liu Qianxiu sat nearby.

Mu Wan held the script and glanced toward him.

Liu Qianxiu met her gaze.

His eyes were deep.

Mu Wan lowered the script and smiled.

“What is it?”

Liu Qianxiu’s gaze shifted down toward the lollipop in Anzhi’s hand.

His lips pressed together slightly.

Then he looked at his daughter.

“Anzhi. In the future, don’t let yourself be bought with a single lollipop.”

Mu Wan burst out laughing.

“Hahaha!”

Seeing her mother laugh, Liu Anzhi laughed too.

She rubbed against Mu Wan’s embrace.

“I only want it because Mommy is here. If Mommy isn’t here, I won’t take it.”

Mu Wan hugged Anzhi and kissed her.

Then she looked at Liu Qianxiu and could not help laughing again.

The man lowered his eyes toward her.

Finally, he reached out and stroked Mu Wan’s head.

“You’re not allowed to learn from Anzhi.”

Learn what?

To be bought with a lollipop?

Mu Wan laughed even harder.
