Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 598

~ PUT ON QUITE A SHOW ~

The Emperor coldly scrutinised Ling Wang: “Your Imperial Aunt has nothing to fear if she is upright. What is there to investigate? Moreover, to launch an inquiry into the Grand Princess—who has rendered great service to the Dali Dynasty—based solely on the testimony of a mere servant, whose veracity remains unverified? Who gave you the audacity?”

Ling Wang’s pupils contracted sharply, his heart seething with hatred. “Imperial Father, why not inquire about Imperial Aunt’s thoughts? Perhaps she wishes to prove her innocence?”

The Emperor narrowed his eyes and turned to Grand Princess Yi De. “Imperial Elder Sister, do not dwell on today’s events.”

Others might not know, but he remembered clearly. Throughout their journey, supporting each other through hardship and adversity had been no easy feat. Had his sister harboured other intentions, he would never have ascended the throne. Moreover, only he and the Grand Princess knew the truth about Junyue’s origins. All those rumors were nothing but wild speculation.

Recalling those past trials, the Emperor instinctively clutched his chest, his eyes flickering with lingering pain.

Grand Princess Yi De poured a cup of warm water and handed it to him. “Your Majesty, the court is always filled with endless gossip. I certainly won’t take it to heart. Please don’t let it upset you. Don’t ruin your health over the foolish actions of an immature child.”

“Imperial Elder Sister, you truly understand me.” The Emperor drew a deep breath, suppressing his surging anger for a long moment. “The traitor Luo Peng attempted to assassinate the imperial family with malicious intent. He and the crimson-clad female assassin shall be dragged away and beaten to death. Imperial Concubine Zhen, for falsely accusing the Grand Princess, your crime is unforgivable. Your title is hereby stripped. From this day forth, you shall be confined to the Cold Palace...”

Imperial Concubine Zhen’s eyes widened as she clenched her fists so tightly her fingertips pierced her palms, leaving bloody imprints. “Your Majesty, I did this for your own good! Every word I spoke was true! Grand Princess Yi De, all these years, the Emperor has treated you generously. You exploited his trust to deceive his heart, even confusing the imperial bloodline—this is disrupting the very foundations of the court!”

“Silence!” The Emperor’s gaze grew icier. “Yue Wanqing, considering you once served the Empress and have attended me for years, I have no intention of taking your life. But if you persist in your insolence and continue to show disrespect to the Grand Princess, then do not blame me for forgetting our past!”

Imperial Concubine Zhen’s smile was bitter with sorrow. Her maternal family had fallen into ruin, and Jin Wang had been crippled, leaving him utterly incapable of ascending the throne. What did she have left to fear now? After plotting in secret for so long, she would not let this opportunity slip. From the moment she entered the Palace, she knew this life offered only one path: push forward to conquer the broad avenue of power and influence, or fail and meet a death from which there was no return.

“Your Royal Highness, after all I’ve said, will you not offer a single word of explanation? The Emperor disregards his reputation for your sake, even going so far as to execute the witness who accused you. Don’t you care about the Emperor? Aren’t you respected? Even if it’s to protect the Emperor’s reputation, can’t you at least offer a few words of explanation?

She knew from the start that she stood little chance against Grand Princess Yi De. Since she couldn’t topple the Grand Princess in one blow, she would plant a thorn in the Emperor’s heart. This thorn might not pierce deeply now, but with successive people prodding it, it would surely shatter the Emperor’s trust in the Grand Princess.

Grand Princess Yi De finally stirred. Rising to her feet, she swept her gaze across the assembled figures. Her straightened posture radiated formidable authority, her phoenix-like eyes gleaming with unwavering resolve—as if piercing through all pretense to the darkest recesses of the soul.

“Imperial Concubine Zhen, what explanation do you seek? Did His Majesty not make it perfectly clear? Yue Wang is His Majesty’s own flesh and blood. Therefore, your initial accusation that I concealed his lineage is baseless, and all subsequent claims crumble. You all claim unwavering loyalty to His Majesty. Should you not treat his words as imperial edicts, daring not to disobey? How can you still harbor doubts when the Emperor himself has spoken? “

Imperial Concubine Zhen was rendered speechless.” But the evidence... the assassin’s confession...”

“Traitors and rebels—their treacherous hearts deserve death. Their words are utterly untrustworthy. As for your accusations against Yunyao, her background is transparent. If you harbor doubts or uncertainties, investigate directly. Though you now lack your maternal family’s backing, uncovering the truth shouldn’t be impossible. If you dare make accusations, then produce concrete evidence. Without proof, I shall demand an explanation from you! Mu Yunyao is my granddaughter. She is not someone to be slandered or framed by just anyone! “
Mu Yunyao, who had been standing beside Grand Princess Yi De, now descended the steps holding the medicine bottle:” Imperial Concubine Zhen, you previously insinuated that I used medicine to harm His Majesty’s health. I refuse to accept this accusation. The pulse records and the prescriptions mentioned for the drugs are all meticulously documented. Each record bears the signatures of Imperial Physicians who repeatedly verified it. This bottle of Nourishing Spirit Pills in my hand was also examined by Imperial Physicians before being presented to the Emperor. Do you genuinely believe I could tamper with anything under the watchful eyes of so many Imperial Physicians?”

The Imperial Physicians immediately stepped forward to declare their stance: “Your Majesty, we can attest that Princess Wenxian is genuine. We have repeatedly verified every prescription she has issued and can guarantee that there are no problems..”

This matter concerns the entire Imperial Hospital. They must make their position clear—otherwise, it would imply they too were complicit in the conspiracy with the Grand Princess and Princess Wenxian to harm the Emperor! Such a charge was too grave for them to bear.

“Your Majesty, this humble servant also participated in the verification of various formulas and can attest that Princess Wenxian’s prescriptions were entirely appropriate.”

“This humble servant can also testify...”

Watching the Imperial Physicians step forward one after another to declare their positions, Imperial Concubine Zhen knew she had stirred up a hornet’s nest with her earlier words. But the words had been spoken, and there was no taking them back.

Ling Wang was frantic with anxiety, glancing repeatedly at Li Qingzhou. He had believed this scheme would be flawless, yet now it had failed so utterly. What seemed like irrefutable evidence to them was, to the Emperor, nothing but deliberate fabrication. With this outcome, who could challenge the Grand Princess’s position? The thought made Ling Wang feel as if he might explode with rage. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of Yue Wang, who had been silent with his head bowed. A sudden idea lit up his mind: “Fourth Imperial Brother, you haven’t spoken since earlier. Is there something you don’t understand?”

At these words, all eyes turned to Yue Wang. Back in the day, the Six Great Clans wielded immense power—especially that of Luo Kun, who entered and exited the Palace gates in a carriage, his presence no less imposing than the Emperor’s own procession. If he and the Empress had been involved, it was entirely plausible.

Yue Wang lifted his eyes, his gaze cold. “Imperial Eldest Brother, did not Imperial Father just declare this all a farce? What is it? Do you doubt Imperial Father Emperor’s words?”

The Ling Wang stiffened. “Of course not.”

“If you have no doubts, then why are you questioning me?” Yue Wang pressed, his tone sharp and unyielding. “The dancers in the Palace performance were assassins. The assassins conveniently identified members of the Luo family. Then, evidence began surfacing everywhere. What a masterfully staged performance.”

Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 597

~ THE FIRE GOT OUT OF CONTROL ~

Xu Li placed the blood-stained letter on the Emperor’s desk and bowed before stepping aside.

After Xu Li stepped aside, the Emperor opened the letter and swiftly scanned its contents, his expression turning utterly grim.

A Palace maid stepped forward and declared in a clear voice: “Your Majesty, this blood-stained letter is Imperial Concubine Yue’s final testament, left behind before she took her own life. It details everything she knew—how Imperial Concubine De secretly plotted against her life, how Imperial Concubine Li covertly incited other consorts against her, and most crucially, the true identity of Yue Wang. The Empress and the head of the Luo family had a secret affair. Imperial Concubine Yue learned this directly from the old matriarch of the Su family, who also left a handwritten letter as evidence, hidden within the Su family’s residence. “This servant has received kindness from Imperial Concubine Yue,” the maid began. “Yet seeing her in distress, I can offer no recompense except to reveal the truth. The reason Your Royal Highness held Princess Yu hostage with a knife was that she was driven to desperation—Imperial Concubine Qi had administered a false pregnancy herb! I implore His Majesty to uncover the truth and clear my mistress’s name. Imperial Concubine Qi, you who harm the Imperial Concubine —you shall meet no good end!”

Finishing her declaration, the Palace maid abruptly threw herself headfirst onto the nearby steps, ending her life.

The dull thud sent shivers and a wave of dread through many hearts. Some officials flinched, eyes wide and anxious. After a moment’s stunned silence, a censor could no longer contain himself: “Your Majesty, this matter is of grave importance. We implore you to handle it with utmost care.”

“Indeed, Your Majesty. This concerns the purity of the imperial bloodline and the dignity of the royal house. The truth must be uncovered.”

“Please order an immediate investigation...”

As the voices rose, veins pulsed fiercely on the Emperor’s forehead. “Enough! I trust the Empress. I trust my Imperial Sister. Junyue is my son, the bloodline of the Imperial Palace. This is beyond question!”

Yue Wang’s heart pounded wildly. He forced himself to meet the Emperor’s gaze, breath unsteady, and unclenched his fists with slow, deliberate effort, struggling to hide his fear.

Ling Wang’s jaw tightened, eyes flashing with frustration and disbelief. Beneath his calm exterior, he churned with resentment: How could the Emperor still trust Grand Princess Yi De and Yue Wang when matters had reached this point?

Suddenly, the Emperor gave a cold order: “Guards! These two assassins first attempted to kill me, then slandered the Empress and Grand Princess Yi De! Drag them away and execute them by beating!”

Before the guards could act, Imperial Concubine Zhen stepped forward slowly, holding a slightly worn ledger. Kneeling in the center of the hall, she said, “Your Majesty, this servant has found a ledger recording Your Majesty’s visits to the Empress. There is also the pulse diagnosis record from when the Empress was pregnant. The time of her conception differs by half a month from when Your Majesty visited her. Would you like to see it?”

The Emperor regarded Imperial Concubine Zhen coldly, his gaze devoid of its usual benevolence, replaced entirely by scrutiny. “Imperial Concubine Zhen, are you aware that privately investigating such matters is a capital offense?”

“Your Majesty, this humble servant was born into poverty and once served in the Empress’s presence. Even then, I sensed something amiss about the Empress’s conception date. Yet Your Majesty remained unaware, and with Grand Princess Yi De deliberately concealing the truth, I could only bury my doubts deep within. Later, upon learning of Yue Wang’s origins from Su Yuyi, I recalled those unresolved questions and realized there truly was something amiss.”

Imperial Concubine Zhen knelt upright: “Your Majesty, I know investigating this is a capital offense, but I cannot bear to see you deceived. All these years, though unspoken, your heart has yearned for the Empress. Your devotion runs as deep as the ocean. I cannot let you be betrayed...”

The Emperor’s breath came short; he clutched his chest, face contorting in pain as two harsh coughs escaped, his usual stoic mask cracking under the weight of fear and uncertainty.

Grand Princess Yi De turned to Mu Yunyao, gesturing for her to hand over the pills she held.

“Your Majesty, your health is weak. These are Nourishing Spirit Pills—they protect the heart meridians and stabilize emotions...”

“Mu Yunyao! What medicine are you trying to give His Majesty?” Imperial Concubine Zhen suddenly snapped coldly. “Ever since you entered the Palace to tend to His Majesty’s health, his condition has only worsened. Have you tampered with his medicine?”

“Imperial Concubine Zhen, you must not speak recklessly,” Mu Yunyao replied, her expression icy.

Imperial Concubine Zhen ignored her, instead addressing the Emperor with feigned sincerity: “Your Majesty, with your wisdom and discernment, reflect upon all events that have transpired. You will surely see through the traitors and recognize the loyal. First, Grand Princess Yi De concealed Yue Wang’s true lineage. Then she secretly supported him in building his power. After Yue Wang returned to the Capital, she settled here permanently, constantly lingering near Your Majesty. Coincidentally, she also found her long-lost daughter and brought in a granddaughter skilled in medicine and poison. Don’t you find all this too coincidental?”

“Imperial Concubine Zhen, are you accusing my imperial sister?” The Emperor clenched the medicinal pill presented by Mu Yunyao in his hand, his gaze cold as he fixed it upon Imperial Concubine Zhen.

“Your Majesty, consider the Su family. Su Wenyan served you with unwavering loyalty. Yet later, because of Mu Yunyao, the entire Su family fell into ruin. This was clearly no coincidence. It was Grand Princess Yi De using Mu Yunyao as a tool to eliminate rivals.

Consider what Mu Yunyao has accomplished. She is merely a girl of barely a dozen years, raised in the countryside. Yet she masters embroidery, tea ceremony, and medicine. First, she gained fame by spreading embroidery techniques. Then, she cultivated connections through tea arts. Later, when the river banks breached, she won the people’s hearts with her medical skills. Such accomplishments are far beyond the reach of a mere child. There must be a master guiding her behind the scenes!”

Imperial Concubine Zhen emphasized the words “master” with deliberate intonation, her gaze fixed intently on Grand Princess Yi De.

Grand Princess Yi De remained immovable, ignoring Imperial Concubine’s gaze as she lifted her teacup and sipped lightly.

The Imperial Concubine Zhen inwardly, before continuing, “Your Majesty, throughout the Capital, everyone now praises Grand Princess Yi De and Mu Yunyao, while not a word of praise is heard for you, the sovereign. Ni Yun Pavilion and Bu Xian Luo are everywhere, their influence unmatched. Grand Princess Yi De constantly whispers in your ear, subtly swaying your judgment. Mu Yunyao tends to your health, while Yue Wang handles your affairs. Beyond Grand Princess Yi De, is there anyone else truly trustworthy by your side?”

These words sparked hushed murmurs among the officials. Previously unnoticed, the situation, upon closer reflection, seemed precisely as Imperial Concubine Zhen described.

“Your Majesty, Jin Wang’s already crippled, and I, your humble servant, have no desire to fight. I only feel gratitude for your years of favor and cannot bear to see you continue to be deceived by treacherous people. I beg you to see clearly.”

Imperial Concubine Li stepped forward: “Your Majesty, this matter involves far too much. I implore you to uncover the truth.”

The officials knelt in unison, pleading: “Your Majesty, uncover the truth!”

Silence hung heavy in the grand hall. The Emperor’s cold gaze swept over each face before he raised the pill offered by Mu Yunyao to his lips. Without hesitation, he swallowed it, then declared, enunciating each word deliberately: “I believe my Imperial Elder Sister.”

Imperial Concubine Zhen raised her eyes in disbelief. She had laid out all the evidence so clearly. Why did the Emperor not show a shred of suspicion?

Ling Wang could no longer contain himself. Kneeling forward, he spoke: “Imperial Father, I too believe Imperial Aunt is innocent. Yet with so much evidence presented, leaving it uninvestigated would cast a shadow over our hearts. Would it not be better to conduct a thorough inquiry? Would that not precisely clear Imperial Aunt of suspicion?”

Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 596

~ ADVANCE CAUTIOUSLY, MASTER THE ART OF WINNING HEARTS AND MINDS ~

The crimson-clad woman’s words fell like a thunderclap in the clear sky. The entire hall trembled three times.

Mu Yunyao suppressed her unease and looked up at the Yue Wang, who stood there frozen, his face a picture of utter shock and confusion.

The Emperor hesitated for a moment, then suddenly snatched the teacup from his hand and hurled it to the floor with a crash. “How dare you!” he shouted, his fury echoing in the hall.

“Your Majesty, please calm your anger.” The officials knelt, pressing their foreheads to the floor, trembling with fear. They exchanged anxious glances and wiped cold sweat from their brows.

The crimson-clad woman burst into loud laughter. “It seems Your Majesty was unaware of this news? “Your Royal Highness, perhaps you should step forward and explain? Years ago, you knew the truth. Empress Wei and the head of the Luo family were having an affair, and she was carrying his child. Yet you helped conceal it. You saved Empress Wei’s life, let that child be born in the Palace, and even made His Majesty believe it was his own. That child grew up safely and is now the Fourth Prince, Ning Junyue!”

The officials grew increasingly stunned. Each wished to plug their ears. The Empress had always been a thorn in the Emperor’s side. Many veteran ministers knew this. When the Emperor first took the throne, he and the Empress were deeply devoted to each other. Her maternal clan was one of the Six Great Clans, but the Emperor never held it against her. Even when she was childless for ten years, he cherished her. If a pregnant concubine showed disrespect, he punished her in accordance with Palace rules. Countless eyes burned with envy.

Later, the Empress suddenly conceived. The Emperor was overjoyed. After she gave birth, he declared a general pardon, hoping for blessings. But tragedy struck. Jealous, the Empress poisoned ten imperial sons and killed the heirs. She tried to harm other pregnant concubines. The plot was found out, and officials called for her execution. The Emperor withdrew from court for a month. When he returned, he defied pressure and only banished the Empress to the Cold Palace, sparing her life.

From then on, the Empress became an incurable wound in the Emperor’s heart that no one dared mention.

Yue Wang stepped forward slowly, his face ashen. “Father, is this true?”

The crimson-clad woman smiled. “Don’t ask the Emperor—he knows nothing. Go to the Grand Princess. Isn’t it odd, Yue Wang? Why does she, who never meddles, show you special favor? Others ignore you, but she checks on you in the Cold Palace. She keeps you close in the Capital, seeks your trust, and plans to use you for the throne. By controlling you, she controls Dalì. She even betrothed her granddaughter to you. When you become Emperor, Mu Yunyao will be Empress...”

Yue Wang whipped his head around. His icy glare sliced the air like a razor-sharp blade, able to cleave a person in two. “Silence! You are just an assassin, the child of traitors! How much of what you say is true?”

“You doubt me? I have proof and witnesses! You bear a small brown birthmark on your lower back. Every male Luo has this mark. Also, someone knows the affair’s details, and that person is still alive today.”

The Emperor gritted his teeth, his face flushing alternately pale and crimson.

Mu Yunyao’s heart sank. Her breath came short and shallow. She remembered the medicine pills Princess Yi De told her to keep close. Hurriedly, she retrieved the medicine bottle, her hands trembling.

Grand Princess Yi De shook her head, meeting Mu Yunyao’s gaze with calm confidence. She raised her hand slowly and made a small, reassuring gesture, signaling her not to hurry.

The Emperor swayed and squeezed the armrest for support. His rage faded to a thick, sinister aura. In a cold, flat tone, he asked, “You say the Empress had an affair with the Luo family head?”

“Quite right, Doggie Emperor. You never expected this.” The crimson-clad woman sneered. “You cherished the Empress, but she had a secret affair with the Luo family’s head. Your beloved Imperial Sister knew and hid it for years. How amusing! Grand Princess Yi De, are you still not ready to tell the truth?”

The Grand Princess, who had remained silent, turned to the Emperor: “Your Majesty, your health is important. Do not let anger harm your body.”

The Emperor did not look at the Grand Princess. Instead, he fixed his gaze on the crimson-clad woman kneeling before him: “Where is this witness you speak of? Who is he? How credible are his words?”

Yue Wang watched the Emperor suppressing his immense fury, feeling as though a bottomless pit had opened in his chest. His heart sank deeper and deeper, vanishing without a trace.

Mu Yunyao clenched her fists, struggling desperately to hide any sign of her genuine emotions.

The crimson-clad woman, seeing the Emperor’s inquiry, smiled with growing smugness: “We’ve merely been clinging to life until now anyway. We’ve had enough of this existence. To make you realize you’ve been living in an illusion before we die is a form of revenge. That witness is waiting outside the Palace, in the northwest corner, to meet me. Send men there now, and you should find them.”

The Emperor waved his hand. Several imperial guards immediately exited the hall, heading toward the location the crimson-clad woman had indicated. Soon, the guards returned, dragging an elderly man bound and gagged. The old man frowned upon seeing the crimson-clad woman pinned to the ground.

The Emperor scrutinized the old man below him, a sudden flash of intense murderous intent flickering in his eyes. “Luo Peng?”

The old man lifted his head, a faint smile playing on his lips. “Your Majesty, it has been a long time. I never imagined you would still remember this humble servant.”

“You are Luo Kun’s sworn younger brother. Of course, I remember you.”

“I narrowly escaped punishment back then, but today, I fear I won’t be so fortunate. Still, to see Your Majesty before I die... this humble servant is content.”

“I ask you,” the Emperor frowned deeply, visibly repulsed by the impending topic, “What connection exists between the Empress and Luo Kun?”

Luo Peng hastily shook his head. “None whatsoever.”

The crimson-clad woman whipped her head around. “Father, you said earlier...”

Luo Peng snapped, his eyes darting excitedly toward Yue Wang, lingering there for a moment. “What did I say? I said nothing!”

The crimson-clad woman froze, then quickly regained her composure, lowering her head without further response.

Mu Yunyao’s fist clenched painfully, her heart boiling with hatred. If Luo Peng had blurted out Yue Wang’s identity the moment he entered, the others might not have believed it. After all, these two were still consumed with avenging the Luo family—they must be utterly loyal. If the Yue Wang honestly shared the Luo family’s blood, they would never betray him. Instead, they would conceal his identity—or better yet, help him seize the throne. Wouldn’t that be the ultimate revenge?

Yet Luo Peng’s silence only reinforced the others’ belief that their reactions were genuine. As for the crimson-clad woman’s earlier words, they were likely dismissed as the rash outburst of a hot-headed youth. It seemed Ling Wang and the Li family had prepared thoroughly, anticipating every possible reaction.

From then on, no matter how the Emperor questioned them, Luo Peng remained silent. Even the crimson-clad woman clamped her mouth shut, no longer uttering a word, her earlier frenzy completely gone.

The Emperor’s fury intensified. Just as he was about to order the two dragged away for punishment, a Palace maid suddenly rushed out and knelt in the hall: “Your Majesty, this servant has an incriminating document to present for Your Imperial inspection.” She reached into her robe and pulled out a blood-stained letter, presenting it with both hands.

“Xu Li, bring it forward.”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

Incurable Chapter 54 Part 2

September nights remained muggy and humid. By the time Mu Wan returned home from the community gate, a thin sheen of sweat had already formed on her skin. Upon arriving, she stripped off her clothes and stepped into the bathroom. After her shower, Liu Qianxiu gathered his things and followed suit.

Her clothes were at Liu Qianxiu’s place, and his were at hers. With no suitable spot for reading in her home after bathing, the two headed to the bedroom early.

Once inside, Mu Wan rolled over and landed in Liu Qianxiu’s arms. He embraced her; both were cool and damp from their showers. She loved that sensation and nestled deeper into his embrace, her breath faintly tickling his skin.

She was doing it on purpose, and Liu Qianxiu could feel it. Her hands wrapped around his waist, her body slightly cool, yet her palms were scorching hot, like a fire that burned through his body straight to his heart.

Instead of pinning her down, he lifted her into his arms. Mu Wan giggled softly as she was hoisted up, then nestled her face into Liu Qianxiu’s chest. Her laughter was quickly silenced by his lips, kissing her gently at first, like a dragonfly skimming the water, teasing and tantalizing. Gradually, the kiss deepened, becoming long and intense.

As their breathing grew increasingly rapid, Mu Wan found herself positioned beneath him. Her jet-black eyes shone like water-soaked obsidian, glistening with a luminous sheen. Though her consciousness was hazy, she could still clearly discern the man’s expression.

He remained as still as water, yet beneath those ink-dark eyes surged the familiar tide of desire she knew so well. Mu Wan reached up to touch his cheek. He took her finger into his mouth and kissed it. She let out a soft moan, smiling, her eyes crinkling at the corners.

“I’m a bad student,” Mu Wan murmured hoarsely. His kisses on her fingertips felt both ticklish and hot.

“How so?” Liu Qianxiu lowered his head to kiss her lips, his voice husky.

“You were supposed to be in seclusion,” Mu Wan murmured, her arms wrapped around his neck as she breathed in the faint sandalwood scent on his skin, returning his kiss. “But this bad student of yours came along and tempted you.”

The man chuckled softly, his voice low and husky, as if carried from the depths of the ocean. It had the most primal desire and allure, intoxicating her.

“Dual cultivation is also a form of practice,” he said.

Mu Wan smiled, but then something occurred to her. She grasped his hand and asked softly, “Shouldn’t we... exercise some restraint during the early stages of pregnancy?”

Releasing his grip on her fingers, Liu Qianxiu lowered his gaze to her, his voice calm. “I’m a doctor. I’ll protect it.”

His eyes darkened. After speaking, he kissed her softly, starting from her lips, moving to her cheek, and finally drifting down to her ear. Her ear was filled with his breath and the damp air. She heard him murmur deeply.

“I’m a man, and I know how to make you feel better.”

Mu Wan murmured softly, lost in the sensation.

By the time it ended, Mu Wan was too exhausted to move a finger. Held in Liu Qianxiu’s arms, her body still responded to his touch. After washing her, he went to shower himself. Returning to the bed, he found the woman lying face down, idly waving his vibrating phone with a languid voice.

“Mei Yaozhi is looking for you.”

Lowering his head, he kissed her forehead before taking the phone and pulling her into his embrace. Their bodies pressed together as Mei Yaozhi’s voice echoed clearly through the pitch-black bedroom.

“Have you asked Mu Wan yet? What style of engagement banquet decor does she prefer?”

Hearing his question, the drowsy woman in his arms stirred, lifting her head. Her simple, delicate face framed dark, luminous eyes that gazed up at him.

Liu Qianxiu had already begun preparing for the engagement banquet after proposing to her. Mei Yaozhi knew friends in the industry, so she had taken the lead in handling the arrangements. She had called him earlier that afternoon, but after dinner, they had been busy and hadn’t gotten around to asking her.

“Did you talk to him yourself?” Liu Qianxiu asked Mu Wan softly.

Since she had accepted his proposal, the engagement and wedding were inevitable. Now that Liu Qianxiu had begun preparations, she needed to cooperate fully—there was no need for shyness or affectation.

She nodded, took the phone, and called out, “Yaozhi.”

Upon hearing Mu Wan’s voice, Mei Yaozhi addressed the matter directly with the person involved. As for Mu Wan herself, she had never been engaged before and knew little about the styles of engagement banquets.

She answered a few simple questions as Mei Yaozhi asked, such as preferred color schemes and styles. After exchanging a few questions, Mei Yaozhi concluded, “I have a general idea of the style now, but there are many subcategories within it. You and Qianxiu should come to the Mei residence for dinner tomorrow. We’ll finalize the details then.”

“Alright,” Mu Wan replied, ending the call with Mei Yaozhi.

Whether it was the phone call or the news of the engagement banquet, Mu Wan found sleep elusive. Liu Qianxiu took the phone and set it down before wrapping his arms around her.

Marriage had always felt abstract to Mu Wan. But now that she was immersed in it, a tangible sense of reality was dawning. To say she felt nothing would be a lie. She was pleased.

“When did you start preparing all this?” Mu Wan asked, clinging to Liu Qianxiu.

“After the proposal is successful,” the man replied.

“You’re only preparing after it’s successful?” Mu Wan laughed and asked him, “Aren’t you afraid it might fail?”

In the darkness, both their features were slightly blurred, yet he could precisely sense where her lips were. He lowered his head to kiss her and said, “I’m not afraid. But before you say yes, I should give you an answer with respect.”

See, he always did things so flawlessly that there was no room for complaint.

Mu Wan hugged him tightly, rubbing against his chest as she asked, “What about the wedding?”

His fingers gently combed through her hair as Liu Qianxiu replied, “Just a preliminary plan. On your wedding day, you’ll depart from the Mei residence and leave through the very room my mother once used for her own wedding.

She had no parents and no relatives to turn to. He had secured her a robust backing, giving her the confidence to walk down the aisle.

Mu Wan felt honey-sweet warmth surge through her heart. Clinging to Liu Qianxiu, she murmured softly, “Liu Qianxiu, I love you so much~.”

Feeling her affectionate cling, Liu Qianxiu’s expression softened. He murmured a soft “Mm-hmm” and whispered in her ear, “I love you too.”

After they were together, their life settled into a quiet rhythm, yet never lacked romance. Hearing his confession, Mu Wan’s heart fluttered with excitement, making her want to roll around in his arms.

He held her close, cherishing her, cradling her in his arms as he listened to her laughter and her breath, growing steadily longer and deeper. A smile slowly spread across his lips.

“Come with me somewhere tomorrow morning. Then in the afternoon, you can come with me to the hospital for your prenatal checkup.”

“Where?” Her voice was barely audible, as if spoken in a dream.

Liu Qianxiu lowered his gaze to look at her. Before he could answer, he saw that Mu Wan had already drifted off to sleep. He pulled her closer into his embrace and said nothing more.

Incurable Chapter 54 Part 1

Mu Wan understood the underlying thought behind Wu Ma’s question. Her mother had also gotten pregnant before marriage and spent so many years as a single parent afterward.

She could resemble her mother in many ways, but Wu Ma didn’t want her to take after her mother in this particular aspect.
Truthfully, no matter what path she took, she wouldn’t resemble her mother in that way. She’d discussed this with Lin Wei before. Marriage and children felt like natural steps for her.
But she didn’t elaborate. Instead, she placed her hand in front of Wu Ma and teased, “Ta-da! He just proposed the other day. We’re taking it slow.”
The ring on her finger was exquisite—vibrant yet straightforward, undoubtedly costly, and ideally suited to Mu Wan. Seeing it, Wu Ma felt reassured, realizing she’d been meddling. The young couple had their own pace. She smiled and said, “Since you’re pregnant, go rest. I’ll handle dinner.”
Mu Wan couldn’t help much, and the kitchen was cramped, so she decided not to get in the way. After playing in the living room for a while, she heard a knock on the door and perked up. Setting her phone aside, she skipped over to open it.
The door swung open to reveal Liu Qianxiu standing outside. The cool air from the living room rushed toward him as the woman approached, colliding into his embrace. He pulled her close, a faint smile playing on his lips, and carried her inside.
“Wu Ma is cooking,” Mu Wan gestured toward the kitchen. “It'll be ready soon.”
Perhaps feeling shy, Wu Ma didn’t come out of the kitchen despite hearing the commotion. Liu Qianxiu glanced toward the kitchen before lowering his head to kiss her cheek, his voice soft.
“I'll go help.”
“Alright.” Since Wu Ma was too embarrassed to come out, Liu Qianxiu should probably go greet her. Mu Wan released her arms from around him and escorted him to the kitchen.
Wu Ma heard the commotion outside the door. She could sense the sweetness between the young couple without even seeing them. Feeling a bit awkward, she didn’t go out. Unexpectedly, moments later, both of them ended up blocking the doorway.
Wu Ma had seen Liu Qianxiu before. He’d visited the Mu family to look for Mu Wan. But she’d only caught a glimpse from afar, noting only that he was tall and slender, radiating an air of nobility that marked him as anything but ordinary.
Seeing him up close today, she was surprised by his striking beauty, as if he were a deity from a painting. His brows and eyes seemed to hold distant mountain mists, and he stood tall and slender, utterly untouched by worldly concerns.
“Wu Ma, this is Liu Qianxiu. Liu Qianxiu, this is Wu Ma.” Mu Wan wrapped her arms around Liu Qianxiu’s shoulders, peeking out from behind him with her fuzzy little head as she introduced them.
Liu Qianxiu politely greeted her first. “Aye, aye,” Wu Ma responded twice, her hands busy with tasks. She gave an embarrassed smile and said, “Wait outside for a moment, the meal will be ready soon.”
As she finished speaking, Liu Qianxiu had already entered the kitchen. His fingers, with their clearly defined knuckles, rolled up his sleeves. His voice was as calm and detached as his demeanor.
“Let me handle this.”
Saying this, he took the lotus root she was holding, still not thoroughly cleaned.
Dirt clung to the lotus root as he scraped its surface with a knife. Water streamed from the faucet, washing the root until it gleamed white and tender. His slender fingers were a cool, pale white, matching the lotus root’s hue perfectly.
Even performing such tasks, he remained untouched by the mundane.
Wu Ma reached out to take it, but Mu Wan called out cheerfully from outside, “It's fine. He can cook. He makes all the meals at home.”
Liu Qianxiu glanced up at her. Mu Wan met his gaze and saw a sparkle in his eyes. Impulsively, she walked over, tugged at his sleeve, tilted her head, and asked, “Is that right?”
“Mhm.” After washing the lotus root clean, Liu Qianxiu let her tug at him. He gave a brief nod before picking up a knife to slice the root.
Their interaction was warm and sweet, their eyes brimming with love that couldn’t be hidden. Watching them, Wu Ma felt her heart gradually fill with ease and joy.
After dinner, Wu Ma prepared to leave. It wasn’t dark yet, so she planned to take the bus. After Mu Wan and Liu Qianxiu escorted her downstairs, Liu Qianxiu asked Uncle Li to drive her home.
Wu Ma protested repeatedly, but in the end, Mu Wan helped her into the car, closed the door, and waved goodbye. Uncle Li rolled down the window. Watching the two figures through the glass, Aunt Wu felt warm and content.
As the car pulled away from the community, Mu Wan watched Wu Ma disappear from view. Dark shadows now stretched across the sky, and street stalls had sprung up along the roadside, filling the air with the warm, bustling atmosphere of everyday life.
Beside her, Liu Qianxiu seemed out of place amidst the lively scene. Mu Wan moved closer, and he took her hand—his palm slightly cool and dry.
“Let's go home,” Mu Wan said with a smile.

Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 595

~ DANCING ON THE BLADE’S EDGE, MURDEROUS INTENT AT THE BANQUET ~

This banquet was held to make up for the Autumn Hunt, so the music was even livelier. Those who came forward to perform were not dancers, but guards who had rehearsed their routines.

The music swirled around their ears. As the guards demonstrating martial arts entered the hall, drumbeats gradually joined in—beats like heartbeats, each one stirring the soul.

The officials present showed little interest in the performance, instead casting frequent glances at Yu Wang, Yue Wang, and others.

Now, Prince Yu resided in Liyang Palace, traditionally the abode of crown princes. Even after rumors spread that his consort bore an ill-omened fate and that her marriage into the imperial family would bring misfortune to the royal offspring, the Emperor showed no intention of having them move out. Recently, Imperial Concubine Qi had even begun instructing the Princess Consort Yu on how to manage the harem affairs. Such actions undoubtedly infuriated Ling Wang and the Li family even more.

Meanwhile, things were even more complicated for Yue Wang. A prince was attempting suicide by starvation over a woman, and crucially, this woman was his own niece. Though the Emperor had already bestowed the marriage, this union tarnished Prince Yue’s reputation, effectively eliminating most of his chances of vying for the throne. As the Empress’s legitimate son, he had long been overlooked, yet still commanded the support of many conservative old officials. To have reached this point was truly a tragic waste.

As for Mu Yunyao, it goes without saying. Ever since she returned to the Cital, the city has been in constant turmoil, with disturbances erupting every other day. Yet she is fortunate, backed by the Grand Princess Yi De, so no one dares openly provoke her. Even now, with her betrothal to Yue Wang, rumors barely touch her. When Yue Wang entered the Palace to propose, he had explicitly informed the Emperor that Mu Yunyao had already verbally rejected him. It was his own stubborn obsession with marrying no one but her that had led to the subsequent incident.

The drumbeats within the grand hall grew ever more passionate. Suddenly, amidst the sea of silver-armored guards, a crimson figure emerged. Radiating an ethereal grace, she stood poised atop the spear tips held by the guards before leaping abruptly into the sky.

Many gasped in astonishment. Just as the crimson-clad woman seemed poised to land, the guards’ spears extended precisely to the center of the stage, propelling her upward once more.

This dance upon the blade’s edge left the assembled officials in awe.

Just as she reached the highest point of her jump, she suddenly kicked off the rafters, redirecting her momentum. A dagger appeared in her hand as she lunged toward the Emperor!

Yue Wang sensed something amiss and hurled the wine flask in his hand directly at the woman in midair. Struck, she crashed to the ground but charged heedlessly toward the Emperor.

“Protect His Majesty! Quickly protect His Majesty!”

The crowd snapped to attention, cries of alarm erupting from all sides.

Yue Wang moved to subdue the woman, only to be blocked by Ling Wang.

Taking advantage of the chaos, Ling Wang shoved Yue Wang hard. Seizing the moment when Yue Wang lost his footing, he rushed forward, pinned the woman to the ground, and stomped on her dagger-wielding hand. He roared, “You audacious villain! How dare you attempt to assassinate His Majesty? Surrender now!”

The guards had already stormed in, completely surrounding the rehearsed guards and the woman within the grand hall.

The Emperor’s face darkened. “An assassin managed to infiltrate the Palace undetected and even reached my presence. It seems Imperial Guards require thorough cleaning.”

The commander of the Imperial Guards immediately knelt forward to plead for forgiveness. “This humble subject has failed in his duty. I beg the Emperor's punishment.”

The woman raised her head, her eyes fixed on the Emperor with fierce hatred. “Doggie Emperor! You're lucky I didn't take your life this time. Kill me or torture me, it's entirely up to you. I'll become a vengeful spirit and come back to claim your life! The grudges of the past, blood debts must be repaid with blood!”

Ling Wang stamped his foot. “Silence! Imperial Father is wise and mighty, deeply beloved by the people. How dare you speak with such disrespect!”

“Wise and mighty? Ha! Ha! Ha! When he slaughtered the Six Great Clean, he exterminated entire families and sparing neither women nor children. Such cruelty defies all humanity! To call him wise and mighty is nothing but a joke!”

The Emperor’s eyes narrowed sharply, a cold glint flashing within. He waved for the Imperial Guards to step back slightly, fixing his gaze on the crimson-clad woman pinned beneath his foot. “Who are you? Why did you attempt to assassinate me?”

“Doggie Emperor! I fear not revealing my identity. I’m from the Luo Family. I came here to kill you and avenge my family.”

The Grand Princess Yi De raised her eyes to the grim Emperor and softly reminded him, “Your Majesty, do not let anger cloud your judgment.”

The woman in red turned to look at The Grand Princess Yi De, a sinister smile playing at her lips. “Your Royal Highness, how sincere the Luo family was when they sought your hand in marriage! Yet you feigned consent while secretly plotting to destroy them. All these years, when you wake from nightmares, have you never felt a shred of remorse?”

The Grand Princess Yi De’s expression remained icy. “Your Majesty, this woman must be a descendant of the Luo family. She is the offspring of traitors. Kill her. There is no need to listen to her ramblings.”
“Imperial Elder Sister speaks wisely,” the Emperor said, clenching his teeth to suppress his rage. “Guards! Drag her away and execute her by beating!”

“Doggie Emperor! Do you place such blind faith in the Grand Princess? Do you not fear she will usurp your throne and take your worthless life?” The crimson-clad woman suddenly shouted.
At these words, the grand hall fell deathly silent. Officials bowed their heads, not daring to utter a sound.

“Ha ha ha! Look at your officials, they cower like quails at the mere mention of the Grand Princess. She’s just the Grand Princess, yet her authority surpasses yours as Emperor. You fawn over her and revere her, unaware she’s playing you like a puppet. Do you know what lies she’s deceived you with? Do you know what schemes she plots in secret? Ha! Doggie Emperor! You shall be betrayed by those you trust most and meet a bitter end!”

The Imperial Guards hastened their pace, some even reaching out to cover the woman’s mouth to silence her nonsense.

“Halt!” The Emperor commanded the guards to stop, his sullen face flushed with fury. “I did indeed annihilate the Six Great Clans, executing every last member of their households. But that was because those six families had undermined the peace of the Dalì Dynasty. They cared only for their own clan’s interests, utterly neglecting the welfare of the people. I killed them with a clear conscience. Of course, as a descendant of one of those families, you have your reasons for seeking vengeance against me. But I will not tolerate your slander against my imperial sister! Make yourself clear today, or I shall cut out your tongue!”

“Hah! Doggie Emperor, do you think I fear you? Don’t you respect your Imperial Sister? Well then, I shall reveal her true nature and show you the kind of people surrounding you. Do you believe she elevated you to the throne only to refrain from seizing power out of sibling affection? Ridiculous! She has always viewed you as a pawn, scheming to wrest control from your hands.”

The Emperor sneered coldly: “I would believe these words about anyone else, but when it comes to my Imperial Sister, I don't believe a single word.”

“Then do you know she concealed the identity of Yue Wang? Do you know Yue Wang isn't your biological son?”

Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 594

~ THE BIG SHOW IS ABOUT TO BEGIN ~

Hearing Li Qingzhou’s words, Li Wang was overcome with joy to the point where he was unsure of what to do next. His eyes were burning with passion. “Grandfather, do you have a way?”

Li Qingzhou smiled, “Jin Wang has been completely overthrown, and Imperial Concubine Zhen is on the verge of going insane. She wants to avenge Jin Wang and use us to deal with Yue Wang and Yu Wang. We will use her scheme against her. First, we eliminate these two formidable opponents, Yue Wang and Yu Wang, and then turn around to deal with her. A concubine without the support of her son is easy to deal with.”

“Grandfather, you’re right. However, Yue Wang has Grand Princess Yi De behind him, and he is engaged to Mu Yunyao. Would she be displeased if we were to move against him?”

Li Qingzhou smirked, “Grand Princess Yi De? Her current status is all held up by the Emperor. If not for the Emperor’s treatment of her with utmost respect, she would only be an ordinary woman. What was there to be afraid of? Your Royal Highness Ling Wang, you are the future Emperor and will control the entire Dali Dynasty. When you have complete control over the imperial power, do you still have to be afraid of an old Grand Princess?”

Thinking about how the Grand Princess had treated him so coldly, Ling Wang only felt a rush of blood to his head, “That’s right, isn’t she just a Grand Princess? As long as I become Emperor, I can decide the life and death of everyone in the world. If the Emperor wants a subject to die, the subject has no choice but to die. Will I still be unable to deal with a Grand Princess then?”

Li Qingzhou raised his teacup and took a sip. His slightly narrowed eyes shone with an inexplicable light, making it difficult for others to determine his feelings. “Your Royal Highness is right. The Imperial Concubine Zhen has already paved the way for us in the Palace. All we have to do now is sharpen our swords and wait at the end of the way. As long as Yu Wang and Yue Wang walk into our trap, we strike them down. Without these two people, Your Royal Highness will become the next Crown Prince rightfully!”

“The Crown Prince?” Ling Wang shook his head with smug satisfaction, his eyes brimming with arrogance. “Imperial Father’s health is getting worse and worse. It’s time to find someone to help him deal with the Imperial Court affair. The power of the Crown Prince is too small, and the position of Emperor is more suitable for me.”

“Your Royal Highness is wise.”

September was about to arrive, and according to the usual practice, this month’s Autumn Hunt would be held. However, the Autumn Hunt should not be held due to the Emperor’s health condition. Thus, it was changed to a banquet at the Palace instead.

Jin Lan laid out the clothes Mu Yunyao would wear for the banquet and set them aside to discuss with Jin Qiao which jewellery should match them. When she saw that Mu Yunyao was absent-minded, she couldn’t help but carefully ask, “Miss, how do you feel about this dark flower cloud brocade imperial dress, paired with a cloud-foot pearl tendril hairpin and the phoenix pearl-drop hair ornament?

“Hmm?” Mu Yunyao was still in a daze, unable to hear Jin Lan’s words.

“Miss, you’ve been absent-minded all day. What happened?”

Mu Yunyao sighed slightly, “I can’t say for sure. I just feel uneasy in my heart.” All officials, both civil and military, would attend this banquet. It was a good time to cause trouble, but she didn’t know if Imperial Concubine Zhen and the Li family would choose to make their moves tonight.

Jin Lan pursed her lips. “This servant is foolish. I can’t help Miss with anything.”

Mu Yunyao was startled momentarily, then smiled: “Weren’t you helping me coordinate clothes just now? That was a great help. No matter what happens tonight, all of you stay at ease within Yuhua Palace. This is my grandmother's place, and no one will easily offend it.”

“Yes, Miss.”

Mu Yunyao changed into a new set of clothes and headed towards the main hall. After receiving the title of princess, she had never worn an imperial dress before. After much selection today, she finally decided to wear a more dignified outfit.

A smile immediately spread across Grand Princess Yi De’s face when she saw her dressing up like this. “Yao’er looks absolutely radiant in this outfit. Come, let your grandmother take a good look at you.”

Mu Yunyao walked to the side of Grand Princess Yi De and lightly spun around in a circle.

She wore a twelve-piece brocade skirt embroidered with exquisite cloud brocade patterns. As she turned them, the hem of her skirt swayed a bit like a blooming flower. She wore a cloud-foot pearl tendril hairpin. Every light pink pearl emitted a warm and gentle glow, making her cheeks pink and radiant. The tassels made of tiny jade beads from the red phoenix-beaded hairpin fell on her ears. When paired with her incomparably beautiful appearance, it made Grand Princess Yi De suddenly think of a praising phrase: “A beauty unparalleled through the ages, pleasing to the eye is this fair lady.”

“Grandmother likes me, so she thinks everything about me is good.” Mu Yunyao said with a smile in her eyes.

Xu Yanhan walked in from outside the door, bowing as she said, “Our Yao’er was born beautiful.”

Grand Princess Yi De signalled for Xu Yanhan to get up and pulled her to sit by the side. “That’s quite true.”

Mu Yunyao looked at Grand Princess Yi De. Her face was calm and serene, without the slightest abnormality. Still, between occasional flickers of her eyes, there was a trace of solemnity flashing through: “Grandmother, you must be busy enjoying the singing and dancing during the banquet, I’m afraid you’re not in the mood to eat, so you probably won’t have the appetite to eat anything. I made some medicinal cuisine, you and mother should try it first.”

“Alright.”

After finishing the medicinal cuisine, Grand Princess Yi De took the silk handkerchief and gently wiped the corner of her lips. “Yao’er, didn’t you just give me some pills to nourish my body a few days ago?”

Mu Yunyao’s heart trembled as she said. “Yes.”

“Take a bottle with you when you attend the banquet later.”

“Grandmother, today’s banquet …”

The Grand Princess Yi De smiled. “I’m afraid that the banquet today will not be peaceful.”

Mu Yunyao’s gaze darkened, and her heart was heavy. If the Li family and Imperial Concubine Zhen chose to make a move today, there was a high chance they would target Yue Wang’s identity and might even bring trouble to Yue Wang’s grandmother. At that time, would Yue Wang be able to withstand it? If the Emperor is suspicious, how would her grandmother handle it?

After changing her clothes, Grand Princess Yi De brought Mu Yunyao and Xu Yanhan to the Supreme Harmony Hall.

Apart from the Emperor, everyone else was present.

Mu Yunyao took advantage of when everyone was paying their respects to look at Yue Wang at the prince’s table.

Yue Wang just so happened to raise his eyes, and their gazes met. As their gazes met, warmth flowed between them, causing them to smile involuntarily.

After saluting, Ling Wang raised his wine cup and sat down casually. His gaze swept across Yu Wang and Yue Wang occasionally, and the corners of his lips curled up in an unspeakable smirk.

Before long, the announcement sounded outside, and the Emperor, wearing a dragon robe and exuding a majestic aura, walked into the main hall.

Everyone hurriedly knelt to pay their respects. The Emperor ascended to the throne and shouted, “You may rise.”

“Yes.”

“Imperial Sister, before I came, I sent someone to Yuhua Palace to check on you. Why didn’t you wait for me?”

“The Palace has had a lot of things to do these past few days. It’s been a long time since I’ve had such a relaxing time to enjoyed singing and dancing.” When the Grand Princess Yi De saw the wine jug at the Emperor’s side, she turned to look at Xu Li. “Your Majesty’s health isn’t good, so he shouldn’t drink alcohol. Go change the wine in that jug.”

“Yes.” Xu Li quickly got someone to change the wine into water.

The Emperor’s eyes were filled with warmth. After exchanging the wine for water, he said a few more words to Grand Princess Yi De, then turned to look at his subordinates. “Let the banquet begin.”

Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 593

~ CONDEMN YUE WANG TO DEATH ~

Having discovered that the Li family was secretly selling iron weapons to Northern Xinjiang, the two lost interest in continuing to stroll. After Yue Wang wrote his letter, Mu Yunyao immediately returned to the Imperial Palace in the carriage and had people secretly deliver the letter to Liyang Palace.

The next day, Min Fanghua came to pay her respects to Grand Princess Yi De, and Mu Yunyao went to help receive her. After the meal, Mu Yunyao accompanied Min Fanghua for a walk. They arrived at the lotus pond in the Imperial Garden and sat down in a small pavilion.

“Yunyao, His Royal Highness Yu Wang told me to pass along a message to you and His Royal Highness Yue Wang, saying that you should be careful in everything and not to try to be brave. He will secretly find a way to help.”

“Thank you, Princess Consort. I will certainly relay this to His Royal Highness Yue Wang.”

Min Fanghua smiled and nodded. “Yunyao, I’m not entirely sure what has happened, but yesterday was the first time I saw His Royal Highness Yu Wang with such a grave expression.”

“Your Royal Highness Princess Consort, if His Royal Highness Yu Wang did not tell you, it must be for your own good …”

“I know. I just feel that it’s a little unsettled. But let’s not dwell on that. Has your wedding date to Yue Wang has already been set? As I mentioned, once you and the Fourth Imperial Brother are married, I will send generous gifts. Have you finalized the date yet? I’d like to prepare in advance.”

“Not yet, but I don’t think it will drag on for too long. It should be around New Year’s.”

“Hmm, it seems like I need to hurry.”

The two chatted briefly before Min Fanghua got up and left.

When Mu Yunyao returned to Yuhua Palace, she couldn’t help but walk towards the side hall where the Poisonous Lady resided. As soon as she entered, she smelled a strong medicinal aroma. “What kind of medicine are you concocting?”

The Poisonous Lady threw a porcelain bottle at her. “Take a look. I just finished making some.”

Mu Yunyao took the porcelain bottle, opened its lid, and carefully sniffed its contents. Her eyes immediately lit up. “Mind-Nourishing Pills? I thought this prescription had been lost! How did you get it?”

“I found it while rummaging through my father’s storeroom. I also dug out quite a few medical books—they’re stacked over there in the corner. Feel free to take a look if you’re interested.”

Mu Yunyao hurried over and carefully read a medical book. The contents recorded in the medical text were miscellaneous, seemingly just random notes—scattered thoughts here and there without apparent order. However, after studying it intently, Mu Yunyao suddenly felt many previously unclear points become clear as day. “This... is this your father’s notes?”

“Yes, the old man had spent his entire life researching medicine and wrote these few books. The people from the Medicine Immortal Valley went to great lengths to search for them. I thought someone else had taken them away, but I never expected them to be hidden in the private treasury.” The Poisonous Lady paused briefly in her pill-making, sighed, and continued processing the medicinal herbs.

Mu Yunyao was so absorbed in Reading that she lost track of time. Before she knew it, an hour had passed.

The Poisonous Lady finished packing the pills, stretched her shoulders and arms, and noticed Mu Yunyao was still engrossed in the book. She interrupted, “Get up and move around a bit. Don’t stay in the same position for too long—you’ll get dizzy. If you want to read these medical books, you can bring them and study them at your leisure. With your current medical skills, you’ll master them in just a few days.”

Mu Yunyao returned to her senses and looked up at the sky, only then realizing how much time had passed. “I was so absorbed that I lost track of time. If your father were still alive, no one could surpass him in medicine.”

“My father was the type who couldn’t handle praise. If he heard you speak so highly of him, he’d be so pleased his beard would practically stand on end.” The Poisonous Lady said as she placed the medicine bottles one by one beside Mu Yunyao, “Isn’t the Emperor’s health in poor condition? These pills should be of some help to him. Send some to the Emperor and Grand Princess Yi De. Also, keep the rest for emergencies.”

To make these pills, she consumed a lot of precious herbs. Although these pills couldn’t save a person’s flesh and bones, they could save their life in critical moments.

“Thank you very much.”

“There’s no need to be so polite.” The Poisonous Lady waved it off casually. After washing her hands, she sat nearby, nibbling on pastries while sizing up Mu Yunyao. “When you came in earlier, I noticed you looked unusually grave. Has something happened?”

“How much do you know about the Li family?”

“The First Prince’s maternal family?” The Poisonous Lady pondered for a long while. “I don’t know much about the Li family, but I’ve heard an interesting piece of anecdote. Prime Minister Li Qingzhou had four sons, each of whom achieved great success, yet none of them had any children of their own. Once upon a time, the Li family even sought help from the Medicine Immortal Valley, but my father refused to assist them.”

Mu Yunyao suddenly raised her head. “Didn’t Li Qingzhou have two grandsons?”

“Those two grandsons were adopted from the collateral branches of the Li family. Didn’t you know that?”

Mu Yunyao shook her head. “I’ve never paid attention to these matters before. But now that you mention it, it is indeed quite strange that none of Li Qingzhou’s sons had biological children.”

“What’s the matter? Do you want to deal with the Li family?” The Poisonous Lady’s eyes lit up. “Do you need me to help you? I have recently researched quite a few poisons. Although they are still not completely colourless and tasteless, ordinary people can no longer distinguish them. They’re perfect for killing without a trace.”

“No need. Just keep it for yourself.” Mu Yunyao hurriedly opened her mouth to refuse. “The matter with the Li family is unusual. If you have any news, you must tell me. You absolutely can’t rashly offend them. Remember that?”

“Alright, you’re just like a busybody now.” The Poisonous Lady complained about Mu Yun Yao’s nagging.

Mu Yunyao glared at her, “Didn’t you say I’m a busybody? What about the octagonal scented sachet that was hanging behind your waist earlier? Where did it come from? Tell me honestly!”

The Poisonous Lady quickly stuffed the medicine bottles into Mu Yunyao’s arms and pushed her out. “You’re too young to be asking about such things. I need to keep working on my poisons—go out and play for a while.”

“Don’t you have connections with physicians and medicinal herbs? Help me investigate the Li family and see why none of Li Qingzhou’s sons have children of their own …”

“Got it! You talk too much.”

At this time, Ling Wang was pacing back and forth in his study. His face grew increasingly joyful until his eyes brimmed with ecstasy. “Grandfather, is everything you said true?”

Li Qingzhou, with his white hair and beard, sat smiling beside the desk, holding a teacup and nodding. “Of course. I have found a surviving servant of the Luo family who escaped by chance. Combined with the evidence provided by Consort Zhen, it is enough to condemn Yue Wang to death.”

“Great, this is great!” Ling Wang slammed a fist into his palm, the joy in his eyes deepening, “Grandfather, then what are we waiting for. Let someone take action quickly. When Yue Wang was in Jiangnan, he showed me no respect at all. I’ve been wanting to settle this score for a long time!”

Li Qingzhou’s face was full of smiles. Although he was already in his seventies, he still possessed an indescribable scholarly aura: “Your Royal Highness, do not rush. We are now at the most critical juncture—success or failure hinges on this very move. Wouldn’t you prefer to eliminate both Yue Wang and Yu Wang in one fell swoop?”

Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 592

~ CUTTING MEAT TO FEED A TIGER ~

When Cai Yi and others saw Mu Yunyao at the entrance of Ni Yun Fang, they immediately surrounded her. Their eyes were all red and filled with deep concern. “Miss, are you alright?”

Mu Yunyao stared blankly for a moment before warmth flowed from inside her heart. “I’m fine. I am sorry caused you all to worry.”

Ni Yun Fang in the capital had not invested as much effort as in Jingling City, but Cai Yi and the others still regarded her as extremely important, making her feel warm in her heart and a little ashamed. She was determined to pay more attention to this place after the Imperial Court calmed down.

“It’s good that Miss is fine. We have already prepared the fabric and embroidery thread. We waiting for Miss to take a look.” After hearing about what happened in the Palace, they were all terrified. Fortunately, it ended without any significant issues, and the Emperor’s marriage decree was issued, so everything was settled.

Miss had always been incredibly generous to them. Now that they could finally do something for her personally, they were all eagerly rubbing their hands in excitement. These days, to compete for the chance to embroider wedding dresses, many embroiderers have been secretly honing their skills, hoping to be chosen by Mu Yunyao.

Mu Yunyao and Yue Wang arrived upstairs and saw batch after batch of silk and satin, their eyes filled with smiles. “Fourth Master, please choose a piece of fabric too, then we can make your auspicious clothing together.”

“Alright.”

Yue Wang rarely engaged in such trivial matters, but with Mu Yunyao by his side, listening to her explanations of the intricacies of various fabrics, he found it unexpectedly enjoyable. Selecting all the fabrics and embroidery threads took nearly an hour. Just as they were about to head out for a walk, they saw Yu Yi hurrying in.

“Greetings, Master and Miss Mu.”

Mu Yunyao motioned for CaiYi and the others to withdraw, then offered a cup of tea to the weary Yu Yi, who looked pale and exhausted, obviously having rushed back from Jiangnan overnight.

Yu Yi took it and drank it all in one gulp. Then, he lowered his voice to express gratitude, “Thank you, Miss Mu. Master, you let Bu Xian Lou secretly suppress the Li Family’s grain business in Jiangnan, but little progress was made despite Steward Qin’s long-term arrangements. Later, people were sent to infiltrate the caravan and intercept some news.

The Li family’s caravan wasn’t trading grain but privately selling iron weapons.”

Yue Wang’s eyes suddenly turned sharp, his entire body radiating a chilling aura. “In the Dali dynasty, salt and iron were all official businesses, especially iron weapons, which are managed strictly. How could the Li family have such great courage to tamper with iron weapons?”

“The Li family’s grain trade operates in remote areas, especially in Heilong City, where the vast land and the population are sparse, making governance extremely lax. The Li family had found an iron ore vein and sent several people to secretly open the furnace to refine iron, then transported the forged weapons to the northwest before distributing them through various channels beyond the borders of the Da Li Dynasty.”

Mu Yunyao was shocked and asked, “They transported them out of the Dali Dynasty. Could it be that the Li family sold those iron weapons to Northern Xinjiang and Yunnan?”

Yunnan has vast grasslands and is mainly inhabited by nomads. After His Majesty ascended the throne, he once attacked Yunnan. In recent years, Yunnan has gradually regained its vitality. However, they only dared to harass the border in a small area and never dared to invade with a large army. The primary concern is Northern Xinjiang. A few years ago, there was a change in the royal authority in Northern Xinjiang, and the newly appointed leader of the Northern Xinjiang royal family had grand ambitions. Over the years, he had tried to reach the Da Li Dynasty’s bottom line and bought many iron weapons from the Li family.”

A flash of fierce anger flashed in Yue Wang’s eyes, “I originally thought that Jin Wang’s disregard for the lives of the people, blowing up the riverbank to destroy evidence, was extremely foolish. But unexpectedly, the Li family went even further, actually doing something as foolish as raising a tiger to invite disaster!”

“Your Royal Highness, the Li family’s caravan has done exceptionally meticulous in their dealings. This time, our investigation was a bit too aggressive, which attracted the caravan’s attention. Now, they have all hidden themselves and their whereabouts are unknown. The informant that provided information for us has also been killed.”

Yue Wang frowned, “Have you gathered any evidence?”

“Apart from a letter sent by the informant who infiltrated the merchant caravan, no other evidence has been found. Steward Qin has secretly arranged for people to head to Heilong City and Tianshui City. Perhaps some useful clues can be found in these two places.”

Yue Wang frowned and pondered, “Selling iron weapons privately is a capital crime, so the Li family naturally has to be extra cautious. Now that you have brought back the news, the Li family should be alerted, and it will be even harder to find evidence against them. Have you found out the quantity of iron weapons sold?“

“I don’t know, but this caravan has been around for a long time.”

“I understand. You should go down and rest first.”

“Yes, Your Royal Highness.”

After Yu Yi withdrew, Mu Yunyao extended her hand to grasp Yue Wang’s finger. “Fourth Master …”

Yue Wang held onto Mu Yunyao, his eyes gleaming like the edge of a blade. He said coldly, “I have been in Western Guangdong for many years and have had many encounters with people from Northern Xinjiang. The people of Northern Xinjiang are valiant, and many of the places have yet to be developed, so once the border people are caught by the soldiers of Northern Xinjiang, they will be directly cut off, bound to horses, and dragged away. Wherever the Northern Xinjiang army passed, there must be a river of blood flowing. I thought that even if the Li family were to act wildly, they should have a sense of propriety. But I didn’t expect that they would privately sell iron weapons to Northern Xinjiang. Isn’t this like cutting off one’s own flesh to feed a tiger?”

“We already know. We just need to think of a way to destroy the Li family.”

Yue Wang shook his head, his expression extremely solemn: “The Li family has cultivated its influence in the Imperial Court for many years, especially Prime Minister Li Qingzhou. He is adept and skilled in maneuvering. Over the years, through various marriages and entangled interests, the Li family’s power has grown deep-rooted and complex, and it may not be easy to eradicate them.”

“I really didn’t expect the Li family to be so patient. All these years, I’ve only seen Ling Wang’s overwhelming prominence, with no sign of movement from the Li family. Now that I think about it, the Li family has probably plotted for a long time.”

“It wasn’t until now that I understood that the Li family has completely treated Eldest Imperial Brother as a shield. On the surface, everything they have done is to support Ling Wang, but in reality, it is all for their own selfish interests. Yao’er, do you think I should report this matter to the Emperor?”

Mu Yunyao pondered for a moment before lightly shaking her head. “If it was in the past, I would definitely support the Fourth Master in reporting this matter to the Emperor, but now … The Emperor’s health is simply too poor. Even though I did my best to help him recuperate, the results were limited. Once this news is reported, I’m afraid the Emperor won’t be able to withstand it. Now that the Emperor is here, the Li family will not dare to act rashly. If something were to happen to the Emperor, even if His Royal Highness Yu Wang was able to fight back against the Li family, the Dali Dynasty would become a mess.“

Yue Wang nodded his head solemnly: “That’s what I’m worried about too.”

The Li family really disguised themselves deeply. Previously, when the Su family was in power in the Imperial Court, they seemed to be on equal footing with the Li family and even appeared to be overshadowing them. Later, with the struggle between Jin Wang and Li Wang as a cover, no one noticed that the Li family was feigning weakness and secretly plotting their own malicious intentions.

“Since we can’t tell the Emperor, why don’t Fourth Master tell Your Royal Highness Yu Wang? With His Royal Highness Yu Wang and Marquis Wei on the side helping out, it should be easier for us to deal with the Li family.“

“Yes, I will go to the palace early tomorrow morning to inform the Second Imperial Brother of this news.”

“Why don’t Fourth Master write a letter, and I’ll take it directly to the Palace. As you said earlier, the Li family has probably received the news. Entering the Palace at this time may attract the attention of the Li family.”

“Sure.”
Cutting meat to feed the tiger (食: feed) means cutting off the flesh of one’s body to feed the tiger. It is a metaphor that sacrificing one’s life cannot satisfy the other party’s greed and is just a waste of sacrifice.

Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 591

~ MU YUNYAO BEING SPANKED ~

When Mu Yunyao woke up, she noticed a figure sitting beside the bed. She thought it was her mother who was worried about her health. She couldn’t help but open her eyes with great effort and say vaguely, “Mother, I’m fine. Don’t worry…”

Before she could say another word, her body flipped, and she felt three buttock slaps.

These three strikes showed no mercy. Mu Yunyao, who was still slightly dizzy, was startled awake by the pain. She could have jumped up if it weren’t for her weak body. Then, a voice filled with rage suddenly sounded.

“You even learned to sacrifice your life for love! Are you stupid? Are you stupid? There are so many kinds of poison. Not to mention, three or two people, even the entire capital, can be poisoned to death. You useless girl, you still try to commit suicide, even saying that you learned how to use poison from me. Why don’t you learn from me and be as ruthless as I am?”

The poisonous lady was furious. When she finished dealing with the matters of the Medicine Immortal Valley, the poisonous lady hurriedly rushed to the capital. Before the toxic lady could even enter the Palace, she heard that Mu Yunyao and Yue Wang had committed suicide for love. The poisonous lady was so frightened that she almost fell off her horse. Fortunately, she heard that the two were rescued in the end, which prevented her from losing her temper and rushing to the Palace with poison powder in her hand.

Enduring her worry and anger, the poisonous lady entered the Palace and saw Mu Yunyao lying in bed with a faint sound. She saw her opponent lying on the bed, gasping for breath. She stayed here for nearly an hour, occasionally placing her fingers under Mu Yunyao’s nose to feel her still breathing, which made her feel a little more at ease.

She didn’t know why she cared so much about Mu Yunyao, but she didn’t want anything to happen to her. This feeling was indescribable, and she couldn’t even figure it out. But she always did things as she pleased. Since she didn’t understand, she stopped thinking about it and did what she wanted.

Mu Yunyao was stunned and did not respond for a long time after the poisonous lady finished speaking.

After the poisonous lady finished speaking, the rage in her heart subsided a little. She couldn’t help but look at Mu Yunyao on the bed and gently poke her spanked butt with her finger, saying, “What’s wrong? Do you know you’re in the wrong?”

Mu Yunyao buried her face in the pillow and didn’t respond. This was painful and embarrassing.

The poisonous lady panicked. “I was afraid of hurting you, so I specifically hit you in the fleshy areas. Could it be that I was too heavy-handed? Don’t scare me. Come on, let me take a look.”

Mu Yunyao was forced to turn around. She couldn’t help but frown and shout, “It hurts. It hurts! You’re being too ruthless!”

Hearing her full of energy, the poisonous lady breathed a sigh of relief and put on an interrogative posture. “I didn’t strike you. Otherwise, you would be beaten to the ground and unable to get up. Tell me honestly, what’s going on?”

When she suddenly heard about Mu Yunyao’s earlier accident, she was too nervous to think it through carefully. Now that she recalled, the entire matter left her with a strange feeling.

Grand Princess Yi De and the Emperor knew that Mu Yunyao and Yue Wang had feelings for each other. They hadn’t opposed it in the first place, so it was naturally impossible for them to have such an intense reaction now. They might have deliberately brought up the previous incidents just to show off to outsiders.

Mu Yunyao pouted as she endured the pain and secretly rubbed the spot where the poisonous lady had hit her. “Although Your Majesty and Grandmother don’t object to me being together with Yue Wang, those people outside don’t know. If Your Majesty rashly granted us a marriage, it would definitely cause people to feel that the Royal Family disregarded their dignity. After careful consideration, I finally came up with this bitter plan. If it goes as expected, the people should be happy to see me together with Yue Wang right now.”

The poisonous lady snorted. “You have such complicated thoughts that it’s hard to figure out. You’ve caused me to rush all the way into the Palace. If it weren’t for the fact that I still have some sense, the Emperor would have already ordered a hunt for me by now.”

Mu Yunyao was moved in her heart and said, “So I didn’t retaliate even after you slapped me a few times. Do you feel relieved now? Quickly tell me, did your trip back to Medicine Immortal Valley go smoothly?”

The poisonous lady’s emotions gradually stabilised. “The Medicine Immortal Valley is now in pieces and no longer has its former glory. However, my father’s medicine warehouse is still intact, and there are many good things inside that I have secretly brought out. I’ll make a list another day, and you can see what’s in it. If you want anything, just let me know, and I will have someone bring it in for you.”

“Alright, if I need anything, I won’t hold back.” Mu Yunyao didn’t refuse. She viewed the poisonous lady as a close friend or relative, just as she would risk her life to enter the Palace when something happened. If the other party was in trouble, she would do her best to help them.

The poisonous lady stretched out her hand and rubbed her shoulder. “I am exhausted after rushing back all the way. I will return to the side hall of Yuhua Palace to rest first. Do you have anything you need my help with?”

“I’m relieved that you’re back. Please help me look at His Royal Highness Yue Wang and see if there is anything wrong with the surroundings. I don’t want to be like Jin Wang, who was secretly taken advantage of by others.”

The poisonous lady curled her lips and said, “I see. Indeed, a girl cannot be kept when she grows up. I will go over to check now. If I don’t come back, everything is fine. If there is any problem, I will come to tell you. You wait for two-quarters of an hour, and then you can sleep peacefully.”

When the poisonous lady stood up and walked out, Mu Yunyao couldn’t help but blink when she saw what was hanging behind her. “Wait a minute, why are you wearing a scented sachet?”

“Scented Sachet? What scented sachet is this?” The poisonous lady used poison year-round. She never used scented powder or scented sachets to prevent unnecessary fragrances from interfering with her sense of smell.

Mu Yunyao pointed at the small of her back. The poisonous lady extended her hand and removed a small octagonal-scented sachet from the belt on her back. Her expression immediately darkened. “Hmph, that brat. I’ll teach him a lesson the next time I see him!”

Mu Yunyao blinked, and a deep interest ignited in her heart. “Him? Who is it?”

“Take good care of your body. Don’t inquire about it. I’m leaving.”

When the poisonous lady left, Mu Yunyao leaned against the bedside and chuckled twice. Seeing the poisonous lady’s expression, she felt that something was fascinating to watch.

Everything was arranged on Yue Wang’s side. After waiting two-quarters of an hour, the poisonous lady didn’t return, so Mu Yunyao fell asleep peacefully.

The poison she had taken before had been modified, and it didn’t have much effect on the human body. However, to prevent the imperial physician from discovering the flaw, it still had some impact. After being carefully nursed back to health by Grand Princess Yi De and Xu Yanhan for a few days, Mu Yunyao was finally allowed to leave the room.

Just as she arrived at the entrance of the Palace, she saw Yue Wang walking out from the main hall. After not seeing him for a few days, his expression was much better: “Yao’er, I asked Grandmother’s consent just now. We can leave the Palace to see what the wedding dress you prepared is like.”

Mu Yunyao’s eyes flashed joyfully. “Okay, then let’s hurry up and leave.”

Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife Chapter 590

~ SUICIDE FOR LOVE? ~

When Mama Qu had retreated, Grand Princess Yi De couldn’t help but laugh. “You little girl, you’re getting more and more mischievous.”

Grandmother wanted to graze and startle the snake, so I naturally came to add fuel to the fire. Now it’s up to the fish to decide if they will take the bait.”

Half a month had passed, and Imperial Concubine Zhen was exceptionally calm. But right now, time is pressing. The Emperor has started secretly arranging to take action against the Li family. To prevent Imperial Concubine Zhen from interfering, it is better to let her take action early.

With a face full of smiles, Imperial Concubine Zhen had someone take the ink chrysanthemums away after expressing gratitude to Mama Qu. Her face immediately turned ugly. “Mo Xin, Mo Xin...”

The maidservant hurriedly stepped forward and said, “If Your Majesty does not like this pot of chrysanthemums, this servant will move it to another room and will not obstruct your sight.”

“No need. I had already expected that my actions in the palace could not be concealed from Grand Princess Yi De, so I deliberately allowed Su Yuyi to see Mu Yunyao with such a high-profile action to prevent her from acting rashly. I had planned to wait longer, but Grand Princess had already given me a warning. There was no meaning in dragging it on any longer. Let them start to do it.”

“Yes.”

On the previous day, the Emperor had refused Yue Wang’s request for marriage and had even ordered him to be reprimanded. He had said that he coveted his niece, which was disappointing. He was punished by returning to his mansion for reflection.

The imperial censor, who had been making a fuss all along, quieted down slightly upon seeing the Emperor punish Yue Wang.

Unexpectedly, after returning to his mansion, Yue Wang refused to eat or drink and wrote a tearful petition, stating that when he fell in love with Mu Yunyao, she was still the Su family’s young cousin, and he did not know that Mu Yunyao’s real identity was his niece. Yu Wang also quotes from the scriptures to illustrate that the word “love” is the most tormenting. He fell in love with Mu Yunyao by mistake, but love is like spilled water, and it is difficult to take back. Yu Wang will only marry her in this life. If he couldn’t fulfill his wish, he might as well end his life so that he wouldn’t have any regrets.

This petition was sent to the Emperor, causing the Emperor to rage.

He issued an order to reprimand Yue Wang, saying that he had lost his dignity as a prince. He also ordered him to immediately go to the Imperial Court and enter the Ministry of Public Relations to help handle court affairs.

When Yue Wang entered the Imperial Court again, the officials who saw him were all taken aback.

A few days ago, they met Yue Wang, who was still standing straight and looking very imposing. After not seeing Yue Wang for a few days, Yue Wang’s body appeared frail and pale. He stumbled as he walked and could faint at any moment.

When they thought of the rumors about the other party’s hunger strike, many officials looked at each other in dismay. They thought that Yue Wang was only putting on an act to force the Emperor to compromise. However, judging from his appearance, it is probably true that he has gone on a hunger strike.

The Emperor was getting angrier and angrier. He did not even glance at Yue Wang during the entire morning court session. Not long after they left the Imperial Court, news came from the Ministry of Public Relations that His Royal Highness Yue Wang had fainted while dealing with official matters, and the imperial physician had been called to rush over.

The imperial physician had a grave expression on his face after his diagnosis. He said that Yue Wang’s pulse was stringy and rapid, his body was weak, and most importantly, he was overly worried. If he didn’t recuperate well enough, it might affect his lifespan.

Upon hearing the news, Yu Wang immediately went before the Emperor and kneeled to beg the Emperor to grant a marriage between Yue Wang and Mu Yunyao. At that time, the Emperor was discussing state affairs with the officials. Yu Wang rushed into the hall and knelt down to make a statement. He first mentioned that Yue Wang grew up in the Cold Palace and had trained in Western Guangdong. Because of the suffering he endured at a young age, he developed a stubborn and unwavering temperament.

Yu Wang also said that it was not easy for Yue Wang to have come this far. He had finally fallen in love with a woman, but there was a difference in seniority between them. However, emotional matters were not something that the human heart could control. Yue Wang has a deep affection for this love, and if the Emperor still does not agree, he might lose his son. Speaking of the difficulties that Yue Wang had when he was a child, Yu burst into tears, making the officials around him dumbfounded.

Yu Wang’s words seemed to move the Emperor. His eyes reddened a few times as his attitude was no longer as unyielding as before.

No matter how chaotic the rumors outside were, Mu Yunyao remained quietly within the Yuhua Palace as if turning a deaf ear. It wasn’t until this afternoon, after hearing that Yue Wang, who had stabilized a bit, had entered the palace again and begged the Emperor to grant her a hand in marriage, did Mu Yunyayo finally take action.

She changed into simple and elegant clothes, went to the kitchen to prepare some nourishing medicinal food, and had someone deliver it to the Emperor and Grand Princess Yi De. Then, she leisurely went to the Imperial Court.

From a distance, she saw Yue Wang kneeling on the ground. They had not seen each other for over half a month. At that moment, Yue Wang was incredibly thin, and his face was pale, especially his lips, which were chapped a lot, and a little bit of blood was oozing.

Mu Yunyao’s eyes flashed with intense heartache. She stepped forward, slightly lifted her skirt, and knelt beside Yue Wang, “Fourth Master, if we cannot be together in this life, then we will meet again underground. Are you willing?”

Yue Wang frowned slightly. Before he could speak, he saw Mu Yunyao take out two pills. “Yao’er...”

Mu Yunyao took one of the pills and put it in her mouth. “God’s will plays tricks on us, preventing lovers from being together. If I can’t be with the Fourth Master, there is no point in me living. I will not marry anyone, but you will do the same.” After speaking, she fell to the ground, her voice gradually weakening.

Yue Wang’s heart was filled with grief. He swallowed the other pill from Mu Yunyao’s hand without hesitation.

When the Emperor heard the news from Xu Li, he almost fainted. Once he regained his composure, he hastily asked the imperial physician to treat them.

Yu Wang ran all the way from Liyang Palace to the imperial study. When he saw Yue Wang and Mu Yunyao, who were unconscious but still clutching each other’s hands, he once again kneeled on the ground and begged, begging for the Emperor’s permission to have this pair of lovers.

The sky gradually became gloomy, and soon, it began to rain heavily.

Yu Wang said that this was the tears of heaven and couldn’t bear to see the lovers being separated. The Emperor finally softened his heart and asked the imperial physician to try his best to treat Yue Wang and Mu Yunyao while issuing an edict to grant them a marriage.

For whatever reason, the rain that had been falling heavily earlier abruptly stopped shortly after the imperial edict was issued. After several vomiting attempts, the imperial physicians rescued Yue Wang and Mu Yunyao, who had taken poison intending to commit suicide for love.

As soon as the imperial edict was issued, the marriage of the two was ultimately settled.

The rumors in the Capital kept changing.

In the beginning, according to the imperial censors, it was said that it was against ethics for Yue Wang and Mu Yunyao to be together. Later, thinking of the good deeds done by Ni Yun Fang and Bu Xian Lou and the achievements they had made together in Jiangnan, it feels wrong to take advantage of the kindness of others while talking about others behind their backs. Later on, hearing that the two almost committed suicide for love, the rumors wholly changed direction, and they praised the two for their loyalty and perseverance until death, which could be called a beautiful story.

After hearing about this incident, Ling Wang was so angry that he threw his teacup and once again provoked others secretly, intending to change the direction of the rumors. However, the people seemed to have believed this. Some even wrote storybooks to spread the love story between the two. The audience was filled for a moment.
